I think they were so stupid that they actually thought the phone would track them, only if it was being used. Once TB was dead they had to find his phone because they thought his phone may have had the gps location feature. (According to MS)

I agree.

I also believe that murder was planned, but not the way it happened. The unexpected shooting of Tim in the truck created chaos, but not all out panic.

MS was more paranoid since he had a long criminal record.
DM was, well, DM, and discussed pet lizards with LW_2 only hours later.

Millard texts that he's on his way to him, tells him "bring a#change of clothes." #Bosma

Now onto Sun. may 5. Millard writes "yeaow, you up negro? Mission day." Smich says this was re: scoping a truck. #Bosma

"So you picked the nice guy," Fraser suggests. #Bosma

Why would DM need to tell him to bring a change of clothes if that is normal for all theft missions as MS said?

Do websleuthers think that when they powered off their phones, TB was already dead ? I am not sure myself. The Crown did say in their opening statement that they believed that TB was shot within a few minutes of leaving on the test drive by two suspects -- DM and MS.

Such a good point!

All MOO.

I believe this was covered in MS's first testimony (but I could be mistaken). The change of clothes were darker clothes to be used at night when stealing the car. They didn't want to use the dark clothes to go on a test drive and arise suspicion. I could be mistaken and filling this in myself though.

Deleted to not confuse others as I obviously was confused.

ETA: Never mind. ..getting confused again! That would be super Sucker video at 9:20.

The phones were powered off or went dead at 9:20 and 9:23. Around the time they were at the bobcat dealer. Where MS claims he seen TB'S head resting on the dash and bullet hole through the window. Also where DM wiped off TB's phone and tosses it 250 meters from bobcat.

So yes, I think TB was dead when the phones when down.

At 9:20 or so, they were driving past SuperSucker, not yet at Bobcat.

Yes but if that was the "norm" on missions why was he told to bring them this time? He should just know to bring them

Respectfully, I hadn't heard of this case, but there doesn't seem to be any primary source about the wood chipper (in a quick google), just a lot of rumors. It sounds like a publication ban may be part of the reason.

Either way, in THIS case I think I'll have to agree to disagree with people who think the woodchipper was anything other than another stolen toy--otherwise there would have been blood/DNA evidence all over it. I believe that DM and MS were dumb. I don't believe they were THAT dumb.

Obviously if we hear more on other cases, I'll have to eat my words, but that's where I stand for now.

How about this article: http://www.foxnews.com/story/2007/0...to-killing-4-women-says-wanted-to-murder.html

Yes, I second guessed myself and went back and look. I edited my post to "deleted" so I didn't add to confusion.

Why would DM need to tell him to bring a change of clothes if that is normal for all theft missions as MS said?

I'm thinking because he was super controlling and micro-managing?

In general, most of the missions were done under cover of night--sleath missions. And so they may have already been dressed in dark 'mission' oufits from the outset. In the case of the 3500 mission, the scoping aspect of the plan was done in broad daylight in the case of IT and dusk if they had been on time for the TB test drive. They would have appeared more than a little suspicious if the 2 of them had arrived all decked in black as was their custom.
The reminder about the change of clothes was very much in keeping with the stated possibilities of a mission 'no go or an all nighter'.

Back in the very early days of this case LE mentioned in some interviews that the area of the Ancaster fair grounds was significant , and that they believed TB was killed a few minutes after he left home. (police wanted witnesses who may have seen anything around the Ancaster fairgrounds)

That stuck in my mind all these years mostly because it was never mentioned again. At least not until the trial and the Super Sucker video which is close to the fairgrounds

And I confess to this day I would not be surprised if the turnaround (and maybe killing) happened in the fairgrounds ... it is a large vacant area , gate open , and no people around at that time of day or year. It would also make more sense than doing the shooting and turnaround on a busier highway (by turnaround , I mean to retrieve the Yukon from the hayfield)

Sorry for the long answer Sphinx , but yes , back in 2013 police sounded very certain TB was killed minutes from home

And I find it hinky police (crown) kept a lid on the two extra truck sightings in the SS video , it would help fit those pieces together , and ironically it was Millards lawyer who pointed out the extra trucks to disprove MS' claim he was innocent and in the Yukon

I'm just pondering the differences in the Sachak cross vs. Fraser's.

Clearly a number of us were very disenchanted with Sachak's style and methodology. The repeated questions, the beating around the bush really had people worked up. He never really went to the heart of what we wanted to hear. In retrospect (duh) he couldn't and didn't want to get to the heart of it but he did need to get his client's story out there which annoyed us tremendously.

Fast forward to today and we have a Crown Attorney trying to get to the truth and he is direct and forthright. Not too many complaints today. We are hearing new evidence that for some, is sealing MS's fate. He is removing the doubt factor.

Face to face, we have someone going at MS in a systematic, thoughtful and seemingly forceful manner.

We are beginning to really see some truths. I think this will help the jury get past the muddled cross of Sachak and put a clearer and more concise picture in their minds.

What's good about the Crown is that unlike Sachak, they don't really have to worry about implicating DM when they ask MS questions. I think Sachak could only do so much before he'd be really implicating his own client.

It's just a reminder, have you never been reminding about something that's normal routine in your life? Take out garbage, pick someone up, groceries etc

Does that matter? Murder happened during a robbery they both planned. Anything within that is enough. Robberies go wrong. Emotions are high. Any chaos created therein was a chance they decided to take.
