Finally, they posted a photo - and more information on his DNA.

Edit: There is also a full body photo and some pictures of his hiking gear at the official police website:

oh my goodness! Thanks for the update. I can't believe it's been almost a year already! Where does time go? :thud:

What a cute kid. He looks so young in the picture. I would say no older than 18, imo.

Finnish brand backpack? My first thought when I saw his photo was Denmark, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands?

His nose is very distinctive and this is not to be mean. Italians and Jewish people are known for their noses.

The name of the brand is from the Finnish language but otherwise it's not really a Finnish brand.
They have an online store in English, German and Italian.

After this, the field-tested Kaikkialla-products are obtainable at each one of the euro-family members – and this already in six countries: Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Tchech-Republic, Switzerland and Germany.

Lidl is in most European countries.

I just read about this boy (it popped up on yahoo) and was immediately fascinated. So many possibilities! And, of course, WS has been on top of it for a year already. :)

I haven't read this entire thread so this may have been discussed but it says very clearly in the article (on Yahoo) that after his father died he buried him then walked "north for 5 days" ending up in Berlin. Authorities have never been able to confirm his story. Shouldn't it be somewhat simple to prove/ disprove if a body is there at all by following the boys directions into the woods? He's far too old to have so little memory of his life. The German authorities say he has picked up on technology easily and it seems as though hes able to recount his fathers death, mothers death, life in the woods, his birthdate, exactly how long he lives in the woods, etc. but can't recall another single detail about his life previously? His last name? A relative? A city? Anything? This is just so strange.

No, there's Lidl in Ireland too, I was always under the impression that it was a German company but I could be wrong.

The linked article refers to it as a chain of German stores.

Fascinating article. Everyone should read it. I think there is a good possibility that this kid has a similar tale.

However, I still wonder if maybe he was the victim of an international parental kidnapping somehow.

That's what keeps me fascinated about this case. I'm hoping this kid is telling the truth and a family member recognizes him. :(

It doesn't look like he has facial hair so that's why I guessed no older than 18 even though some boys at his alleged age do have some facial hair. I haven't finished reading the Chameleon story (I only read page 1) so far.

I'm hoping somehow a child who was taken away from his bio parents or like you said, a parental kidnapping, can be reunited with his family.

Why isn't anyone looking for him? :(

Are his eyes blue? It is hard to tell otherwise. I thought he looked a bit like Steven Kraft, but he has green eyes.

It is really not uncommon for a homeless teen to give out a false name and identity. The idea that it may be close to his eighteenth birthday and he is letting them release his photo only now, made me wonder if he was running from an abusive situation.

Have they established that he is mentally ill? Not sure I would buy his story otherwise.
