FYI: An inmate at Angola costs the state an average of $23,000 a year. A young lifer will rack up more than $1 million in taxpayer-funded expenses if he reaches the Louisiana male life expectancy of 72.

HB850 focuses only on the Avoyelles prison, which would be owned and run by a private company.

The bill’s sponsor, state Rep. Henry Burns, said the state needs the dollars that would be derived from the sale and privatization. He said that money could be used for programs that ease an inmate’s return to society with the goal of reducing future crimes.

“Is it about the money? Well, definitely it is about public safety,” said Burns, R-Haughton.

WHY? 14 years old..

Ok, ok Foxfire! Why? 14 years of age? Just been mulling over doing a lil investigation of my own, is all. ;)

Hi, just checking in.

I've noticed around town that it's mostly the women who are talking about Mickey. I have heard from several women I see regularly -clerks - employees at shops, etc. It's obvious that this would be the feeling, but universally the main point I have heard is that the women are so very proud of her for fighting back. I guess this speaks to the fact that women are much more afraid of being powerless than men, and are rallying around the fact that Mickey kept her power.

If you think about it, Mickey never surrendered her power, not even at the very end. From what we can tell, she never gave that surrender that BSL was looking for. His need for power was denied. I'm not saying that Lisa didn't fight - we just don't have the details - but the evidence of Mickey's fight will be visible on his body for the rest of his life.... like the mark of Cain in the Bible. This big man ran up against a smaller woman and found that her will was every bit as strong as his. He probably thought at one point, "this isn't fair!" He was probably blown away that she didn't follow the "script."

LMSAO, careful what you ask for, CC. Let us know what you discover..

Keep in mind that many of the tell tell signs are present during early childhood. Age 14 seems to be the age of culmination..

Good to see you back, Chicken Fried..Hope you enjoyed your little sabbatical.
At the national missing/murdered persons conference each year, the number of women in attendance is prolly 10 to 1 over the men. Guess, women are more apt to act out and express their true feelings than men.
Someone PMed me on WS the other day, assuming that I was a woman. I didn't say yea or nay.

Crimson clover, excellent question that has been puzzling me for years.

When 61 year old serial killer Gary Michael Hilton, was asked by the jailers at the Dawson Co., GA Corrections facility, "If you are so damn intelligent, why did you get caught"? He responded, "Yall haven't caught me since I was 14 years old"!
Months later I learned that he had shot his stepfather in FL, at age 14. He was placed in a low security mental institution and simply walked away. GMH, later received his GED, joined the Army, and was special forces trained. I think you prolly know the rest of the tragic story.

This statement by GMH, haunted me for some unknown reason and raised my curiousity. So I researched it.. As with McDuff, Ridgeway, and numerous other prolific serial killers. The age of 14 years, comes up time and time again...Guess, this is the age when most cross the threshold from fantasy to reality..
Maybe that's when the push of testosterone comes rushing forward?? Just guessing..

Not only do we not know if they collected/retrieved a knife, we do not even know if it was his semen on the washcloth. As well, unless she was physically able to see the knife through her blind fold I don't know how she would identify it. There is though the possibility that any knives they retrieved were sent to a forensic lab. They did collect his clothing and I would assume any clothing from the female. As well there were 2 phones ripped out of the wall. He did state originally that his prints should not be on the phone, then changed that to it might be on "the phone" as he "may of moved it during their struggle". He only changed this after he found out that they were going to take his fingerprints.

We as well do not have access to the doctors report, any forensic reports, or follow up interviews et al.

The victim herself told the detectives that she was "not raped". It is surprising the number of people that do not realize rape can be in the form of anal, oral, and vaginal. I saw it stated right in this forum that oral sex is not a form of rape.

Many rape victims are hesitant to testify for a variety of reasons. Considering that rape, especially 13 years ago, was often a he said she said, taking this to court often puts the victim in the position of being the "defendent" throughout her testimony. For anyone that has followed the Sandusky trial, the trauma that was evident to the victims during their testimony was heartbreaking.

We have absolutely no other information besides that which is included in the initial report from LE. Why would that be many would ask?

Probably because he accepted a plea deal and it never went to trial. MSM has dropped the ball here as they have not requested these reports through the FOIA. As well, we have no incident reports with respect to his ex-wife, Lisa Pate, Mickey Shunick, or incident reports from Texas.

In fact, we do not even have the Plea Agreement from the particular incident of which is being questioned. I am certain that this Plea Agreement would as well be a sanitized version.

I would like to know why?

bbm

It is just incomprehensible to me!

Never brought in on the warrant from the Feb 2000 assault on his PREGNANT WIFE...
Am I understanding it was still active EVERY TIME HE WENT FOR HIS MONTHLY RSO status update???
(seems like they should check these guys monthly for outstanding warrants)

Ft Polk never pursued him for RAPING a woman while AWOL? NO COURT MARTIAL?

NOTHING???

I'm not sure I believe this civilian police vs military stuff.
My son's friend was at Ft Lewis. 2009-
The friend's room mate... I will call him "Rob"
raped an x girlfriend while on leave for Thanksgiving in ANOTHER STATE!
(This "rape" began as "consensual" but he wanted to "do things" a little kinky when she said no he did it anyway... )

Lemme tell you... I can not even repeat the things that "Rob" had to deal with when he returned to base!!! Most of it was from the guys in his infantry unit or bazillion or whatever you call it.

Maybe it wasn't cool that the CO turned his back and allowed it, but... just wow!
They DID NOT assault this guy... but he "paid" for his actions against the x girlfriend...
I think the Court Martial was probably the LEAST of his worries!!!

How has BSL been able to fly under the radar and get past the "gatekeeper" without a wingman???

Yep, I remember that was all around the same time. I thought he had said he already had a couple names of interest at that point though and I was just curious if BSL was one of those.

If you mean A.C.I., I asked him that around the time of the arrest. I linked his reply:
