LAWRENCE, Ind. - Tennessee police arrested two people Monday night on charges of killing a Lawrence infant in September.

Prosecutors say 9-month-old Aiva McGee was abused. Court documents said the abuse occurred in late September when 18-year-old Corey Bullock was babysitting Aiva. She died Oct. 2.

22-year-old Apryl Hammer, and Bullock took off when they knew charges were being filed.

Newtown Families File Lawsuit Against Gunmaker

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut/AP) — The families of nine of the 26 people killed and a teacher wounded two years ago at the Sandy Hook Elementary School filed a lawsuit Monday against the manufacturer, distributor and seller of the rifle used in the shooting.

The negligence and wrongful death lawsuit, filed in Bridgeport Superior Court, asserts that the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle should not have been made publicly available because it was designed for military use and is unsuited for hunting or home defense...

Police officer shot, killed overnight in Tarpon Springs (FL)

A Tarpon Springs police officer was shot and killed overnight, and a suspect has been taken into custody, authorities said.
The shooting happened at 3 a.m. at or near 199 Grand Boulevard, a few blocks from the city's Sponge Docks. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and Tarpon Springs Police Department are investigating.
Investigators are also working a nearby second scene on Athens Street, where the shooter fled in a white Hyundai sedan. The shooter crashed into a power pole and snapped it and then crashed into a pickup truck, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Cecila Barreda said.
Authorities haven't said whether there are any other injuries or identified the officer or suspect. Bay News 9 has learned that the officer and the suspect are both male.

KALKASKA CO. -- A white female body has been found in Kalkaska County located in a wooded area Saturday evening.

According to the Kalkaska Village Police, the body was discovered around 4 p.m. near the Boardman river, just north of the Kalkaska McDonald's.

The body has been sent to Grand Rapids for an autopsy.

KALKASKA CO. -- The body of the missing Kalkaska woman, Connie Snyder, has been found.

The Kalkaska Village Police confirm Monday afternoon that the body that was found Saturday around 4 p.m. near the Boardman River is Snyder's body.

Snyder's body was sent to Grand Rapids for an autopsy where her identity was confirmed.

The cause of death is still under investigation.
