Tammy's thread is now located in the Cold Case Forum. Same link.
This is not breaking news but a follow-up to a previous case that Websleuths' members played a major role in solving. And Websleuths is in the news again this weekend and that is always breaking news.

"Of course they thought I was a lunatic and they blew me off for a month," she said. However, working with Dyson, she was eventually able to get a report generated about Alexander's disappearance. Police could find no such report from 1979.

The information was posted on NamUs, and, shortly thereafter, a California resident, Carl Koppelman, saw the report and considered Alexander a match with photos he'd seen of "Cali." Koppelman is a member of Websleuths.com, a network of online volunteer investigators who pore over reports of missing persons and dead bodies that are unidentified.

Koppelman contacted Nowell and others, then they reached out to the police. A DNA comparison with Dyson provided the proof that "Cali" was Tammy Jo.

June 10th is the unveiling of Tammy's new headstone at her burial site in Livingston County.

BBM Are you saying that there must be a Websleuths thread already open for us to post a link to the "Breaking News!!!" thread? If so, I wasn't aware of that.

Hi TedMac :)

Yes, AFAIK, there should be a link to a WS thread.

If there isn't a thread for the topic you're posting on, you can start a new thread, and include the link with your post.

I'm not a Mod, but I'm pretty sure that's the correct answer. HTH!

:)

Updates: South Side on Lamar evacuated after bomb found
WFAA Staff, WFAA 4:32 a.m. CDT June 13, 2015

DALLAS – One or more suspects are in a standoff with Dallas police after launching an apparent attack on the department's headquarters before leading officers on a chase.

Police evacuated the South Side on Lamar apartment complex across the street from Dallas police headquarters in the 1400 block of South Lamar after one or more bombs were discovered outside DPD HQ.

According to Dallas Police Chief David Brown, four suspicious bags were found outside the building and the department's bomb squad has confirmed at least one of the bags contained one or more pipe bombs.

Brown warned if nearby residents hear explosions Saturday night, it may be the bomb squad performing controlled detonations on the suspicious bags.

Firefighters pull body from Missouri River

"After about two hours of searching the Missouri River between Cooper’s Landing and Hartsburg, crews found a body floating in the water early Monday morning.

The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death. The body was “badly decomposed” and appeared to be an adult, said Roger Jaeger, spokesman for the Southern Boone County Fire Protection District. It was not clear whether the person was male or female."

Woman's body found floating in Huntsman Lake, Springfield, Va

"SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WJLA) - Kayakers paddled upon the body of an adult woman floating in Huntsman Lake Sunday, authorities said."

"At approximately 1 p.m., first responders boarded an inflatable boat and closely examined the woman's body. She was floating face down about 15 feet from the shoreline. It appeared she was wearing blue jeans and a grey tank top. The main question: was this purely accidental or something sinister?

"The person was clearly dead and had been here for some time," Fairfax County Police Department spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said. "Are there any missing adults? Has anybody called-in today or recently, regarding somebody that might be missing...? That's where [our detectives] begin and then they'll go from there."
