Social media presence or not, these kids were still abused.
Maybe they documented stuff in the hopes that someone would see them and help them?

IMO

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you explain.

We haven't seen her in person.

I think I understand better now. My theory is that DT or LT had a cell phone lying around and the 17-year old was able to get access through an anonymous User Name and post online. Originally, I wondered how she got Internet access. They have I-Pads at the hospital and can communicate with each of the siblings.

This tweet also stood out to me:

1. Why in 3 years?
2. Posted at 4:46 AM

All the social media Turpin sites I believe the links have been removed. Three years might mean the time when the children all thought they would be able to leave their living hell and be happy and free.

Exactly. Reading through the comments on the reuploaded YT video were incredibly disheartening. People talking about how the house wasn't that bad and their house looks like that on a bad day as well as wondering why those kids didn't reach out if they had the internet.

My mom and dad were abused as children and they really didn't know until they were older. When you grow up a certain way, you think that's the norm. They're not going to reach out over social media if 1. They're pretty shut off from others so they feel nobody would believe them or 2. They don't know that it's bad enough to be rescued from.

The 17 year-old survivor had already attempted getting help in Texas and was returned. I'm hoping social media was an escape from her daily torture and she was able to find solace in it. It's not evidence that her and her siblings were not abused

Thanks. I did the same now and the titles of the youtube videos are interesting:
- it's over
- not for today
- where is the key
- you blame me
- so weak

Odd. The five titles I saw mentioned on Twitter were, in sequential order of when she posted them:
- Not For Today
- Give Me One More Chance
- You Tore Me
- Never Felt
- What's Wrong With Me

It's possible that "You Tore Me" = "You Blame Me" and "So Weak" = "What's Wrong With Me"

I don’t think the same person who tried to get help in TX was the one who got help in CA.

Hmm. If you search her pseudonym on Google images, then click on each of the stills from her youtube videos, that is what shows. Maybe she selected different titles for her videos
(different from the song titles I mean)?!?

I'm pretty sure you are correct. She would have been too young to ask about driver's licenses and apartments and such.

Ahh, got it. I think I got all the headlines confused since they said "Daughter tried to escape in 2010" and I assumed it was the same daughter. Regardless, I think it had to have been discouraging to all of the siblings! :(

Then again, maybe not. I just did a quick comparison of the pictures of her YouTube songs on Twitter and those on Google images, and none of them match - she has on different tops/shirts. (There was no image for Not For Today in Twitter). So it looks like there are nine distinct songs. I wonder how many she has written altogether? She seems to take after her oldest sister in this regard.

Is this a clever act by LT setting herself up for an insanity defense or is she really this far gone?

The sister of alleged house of horrors mom Louise Turpin has described her sibling as “living in a la-la land” and says the suspected child abuser believes “she didn’t do nothing wrong

Speaking to Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Elizabeth Flores alleges that Turpin is so disconnected from reality that she thinks she’s “going to get out and we’re going to play board games again,” like the pair did as children.

The possibility that it s an act crossed my mind too. I noticed that the sister expressed the hope that there is going to be a psych evaluation.

I think LT is insane, but I doubt she is legally insane. She knew enough to keep the abuse hidden and to unchain two of the kids when the cops arrived.

I feel as if a knowledge of current pop music on the part of the siblings could be explained away by (*drumroll*) - Radio Disney, what else?? I could see such a thing being permissible, with DT and LT's Disney fetish. As for the cell phone having applications like YouTube and Twitter, I'm not particularly bothered by that either, as many come free by default, and also basically provide a guide on how to log in and create your own screen name from the loading screen. I'm glad to see they had some normality.

I noticed there are two different images for "You Blame Me"; in one she is wearing purple with her hair down, and in the other she is wearing blue and has a red thing in her hair.

I wonder who else in the house knew about her videos and posts. I hope for those brief moments she forgot about the horrors and could be a normal teenaged girl.

Really? I just tried and I'm still able to access it.

The address still comes up but all the "Lacey Swan" tweets and images have been removed. All that is left is a few LS tweets when I try it now. And the profile is gone as well.

I wonder why she picked the name Lacey Swan.

I know I'm a bit late entering the discussion, but that never stops me. The impressions I got from what I have seen are that the parents didn't know that she had internet access or the phone. I know they had some experience with internet usage in the past because one of the relatives mentioned that they had talked to the kids on Skype until fairly recently. If the accounts were opened in December (I think I read that here), she may not have realized she could use the Internet with the phone before then. It seems like she kept the phone a secret from the parents because she always seemed to be rather quiet and behind a closed door when she was using it.

I think she may have taken one of DT or LT's old phones to use for pictures and videos, and just started posting them online when she somehow realized that she could get access through wifi with a deactivated phone. The most positive thing I got from what I managed to see is that her songs probably helped her maintain the strength to carry out her plan. It seems like she was working out a lot of her sorrow, frustrations, anger, etc. by writing and singing songs about them. That seems like one of the healthiest things she could do living in the circumstances she was. MOO

Wow, I can hardly believe this, but here you go:

Brave 17-year-old girl who escaped from House of Horrors and raised the alarm posted YouTube videos of her singing under an alias

Only the white dog could be a Bichon It could be a Maltese. There are no black Bichon's. Isn't the UK site known for releasing tabloid-type information? The video appears to be gone.

This is the best that I could make out with headphones on the dog video, slowed to 0.75 speed:

"I was just- just gonna tell you she's trying to get into the room. But it's impossible."
"Dad locked 'em/it [unintelligible]"

There's more talking in the background earlier in the vid before the door is opened, but it's too muffled to make out so far.
