I heard a Homeland Security guy on KFI radio, named Mike Baker, with an interesting theory. He said that when the shooter put his info out on the dating websites, he was probably targeted by Extremists because he had several things they look for. He was a Sunni with American citizenship, a good government job, liked to target practice, and he was looking fir a wife. Those things checked all the important boxes for Al Queda or whomever, as making a perfect 'target' for them to radicalize. So they can easily send an extremist female to him by having her contact him online and easy peasy...

Interesting. A lot of the talk theorizes that she was the impetus. But he could have been targeted. It's so bizarre to me. Someone who lives all his life in U.S., good education & gov job that treats him well, accommodates his religious needs. And suddenly he wants to do jihad and likely die. She had to have been radicalized before they met at least in my mind.

I do think they had something else planned. Something bigger. I'm not even sure the attack they did was the focus of the plan. But they were caught and killed fortunately. But they had an arms and bomb stockpile that had been accumulated for a reason. I think the people there were very lucky although that is very hard to say as too many weren't lucky.

Just like in every religion - there are nut job secs, including Christians. Problem is...the radical Islamists have taken it to a whole new level and have set out to terrorize and destroy the non-believers. It's not crazy Christians, or nut job Buddists committing these massive acts of terror. It's the Muslims turned extremists - and those are the people we are afraid of.

The radical Islamists are just this generation's flavor, but actually on a much smaller level.

If you study history you'll see that Christians took it to a whole new level in the 1400s and 1500s. Remember the Salem witch trials of the 1400s? Burned hundreds of people at the stake because of the fear they were possessed or were witches. Hitler took it to yet another level in the 1930s to 1945. 25+ million people murdered. Look at Somalia with the ongoing civil war. Based on race, religion. Millions murdered and that's been going on since the 1980s. Look at Ireland and the decades of war within that one country (Irish Republican Army). The common thread is: I/We are right and you are wrong and you have no worth and you need to be exterminated and everyone like you or anyone that believes what you believe also needs to be exterminated.

It takes generations, several to many, to eliminate the scourge of a radicalized ideology, following events to conquer and re-establish order and peace. And during that time, there can be no "tolerance". Surveillance has to be robust. Historically, over time, this is the ONLY method that has ever worked to "change" and eliminate radical ideologies. Prosperity, even ENFORCED prosperity, has a way of conquering radical ideologies over time.

It's the idea behind many programs in the U.S. to divert the attention of young men from following a path of radicalization.

True, but today's terrorist have new means to destroy and conquer. Which we are witnessing.

This man had a good job. In a coveted area of the United States. He earned a pretty good salary, buffered by bonuses that government employees get. Vacations, medical insurance etc.

He is allowed to bring his Pakistan wife to America.

She gives birth to their child in America, all paid for via his job's insurance. He even gets paid maternity leave!!!!

Yet, instead of rejoicing, they start planning how to murder as many people as they can. Even with a new baby, that should have been their delight, they spend their spare hours building bombs, acquiring weapons and enough ammunition to take down hundreds or more innocent people.

I am furious at the two of them.

I don't see 27 virgins as a motive. I see hatred for the United States and everything we believe in as the motive.

Let me guess, the female killer was NOT vetted because she was a woman. Going with a man into this country.

Now we know.
Terrorists can come with pregnant bellies and smiles.

I so agree- there are reasons why FBI/ATF on scene so quick, they knew it was terrorsim pretty darn quick and are still playing like it "might"

I agree with this 100 million%. Security first. I'm surprised we know as much as we do. There may be accomplices out there. The less said the better.

Apparently shooting out of a speeding vehicle takes a skill set

I sure dont know but i think there would be kickback when shooting one of A15's. I think one of us picking one up (yuk they are just ugly) and firing I think we would fall over

Expert consensus seems to be there are definitely more and it was unlikely they were operating solely on their own. Also obvious the amount of weapons, ammo, bombs and bomb making equipment was being stockpiled for something else, likely larger.

This is the kind of informative post I want to 'thanks' but also the kind that includes information that sucks so much you don't want to thank. It's like hitting 'like' on a facebook friend's post when they tell you they have the flu. BUT i'm gonna hit 'thanks' because it was indeed informative! Just, ugh, so worrying.

I think a lot of western countries are on edge after Paris.

Slight OT: When I was in Salem I visited the memorial. At least one of the victims was put to death by pressing. Pressing! Until then I didn't even know that was a method of execution. Evil always finds a way.

The more the magitude of this marinates the worse it gets. IMO, this is a cell.

We have been hearing warnings about "cells" for quite some time, but I think it does not really register what it implies.

and we are totally powerless....talk about controlling .....................

and cant tell if like Paris was like a trigger worldwide to roar- they are all different but two 4 days apart is pretty stunning

Was she killed inside the car or out? I know I saw a different body (Syed) on the other side of the street in the live feed on CNN. He was clearly killed in that spot. But I am curious if she was killed in or out of the vehicle.
