Reference to the hard drives missing is in this article:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/dec/3/syed-farook-tashfeen-malik-erased-digital-footprin/

The Muslim husband and wife behind the mass shooting in San Bernardino began erasing their digital footprint a day in advance of the deadly attack, deleting email accounts, disposing of hard drives and smashing their cellphones, according to law enforcement investigators who are treating the probe as a counterterrorism case.

I DID hear this, I think on a news stream? I'm not sure if what I heard was true, but I did hear this for sure. They were apparently also deleting a lot of stuff from their online presence. These two were planning something for sure, but I don't think we know if it was this attack or if they were planning something else and did this attack instead.

I simply can't imagine extremists using (for example) match.com or plentyoffish.com to troll for people to recruit. They would only get to see someone's handle name, not their real name, and perhaps not even a picture. That just seems bonkers to me. There are so many other ways for those who are terror-minded to recruit or be recruited. Highly doubt a dating website would be useful that way.

I disagree, respectfully. They do not use match.com. They use Muslim dating websites, where lonely men are looking for love. I think we will eventually discover that this woman was radicalised before she even met her future husband online.

And this security expert, Mike Baker, knows what he is talking about. He said it is a known fact that extremist groups sometimes target people by this method. They were possibly able to get this radical extremist female into our country, legally, and to infiltrate a locked down Government building, and kill and maim dozens of innocent people. That is quite a successful troll. Why is it bonkers to recruit in this way? What is a stronger lure or temptation than 'love?'

I would not be surprised if rental car agencies now carry Terrorism coverage

Good one. Car rentals should ask if customer "has been out of the country in the last 30 days or been in contact with anyone that has...been making bombs" similar to my doctor's "questionaire" before they let you have yr appointment. If yes, then charge according to country of risk or ju"st quarantine (better yet, deport) them on spot.

I think they were planning something else but started with this for personal reasons. And luckily they were stopped before they were able to carry out the rest of whatever their plan was.

Did they think renting a car would help them evade police?

I wonder what kind of car they owned. Maybe their car was too small to carry all that ammo, guns etc. and a small car would make it difficult for them to move around.

I would guess because their own license plate would be connected to their names. I'm guessing the rental plate was connected, too, but it would take a few extra steps. Also perhaps they rented with fake names, or had another person rent.

They picked one of the most common cars for this area. On the news before they were captured, they kept saying that finding that particular car was like a needle in a haystack. So I'm guessing this car was indeed chosen as a method of blending in for escape.

I bet that if one co-worker didn't recognize the voice/face or whatever, it would have taken longer to get these two. I'm just so glad no other attacks took place from them, and I'm glad those bombs didn't go off.

Farook and one of the co-workers he killed, 52-year-old Nicholas Thalasinos, had a heated conversation about Islam, according to Kuuleme Stephens, a friend of the victim two weeks ago.

The guy was of the Jewish faith.

Stephens said she happened to call Thalasinos while he was talking with Farook at work. She said Thalasinos told her Farook "doesn't agree that Islam is not a peaceful religion."

He was killed. She heard Farook counter that Americans don’t understand Islam, and Thalasinos responded by saying “I don’t know how to talk with him."

As part of the complex investigation late Thursday, authorities were trying to piece together a money trail that would have enabled the suspects to acquire over $30,000 in guns and explosives. Public records show that Farook made approximately $51,000 per year as an employee of the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, making it unlikely he could have afforded such an arsenal out of his own pocket. There is no evidence that Malik had a job.

Officials were also looking for a man who bought the two AR-15 rifles the couple used in the attack. The Associated Press reported that Farook legally bought two pistols found on the couple, but an unidentified man bought the rifles.

Was she killed inside the car or out? I know I saw a different body (Syed) on the other side of the street in the live feed on CNN. He was clearly killed in that spot. But I am curious if she was killed in or out of the vehicle.

That's is exactly what I thought while watching too! Scary stuff.

I got the impression was one was killed in car and another on street

The hard drive missing is a problem IMO. I think for all the other stuff attempts to delete , forensically dont work!

Has anyone found any info about the wife? I'm reading elsewhere that many are speculating that Tashfeen Malik is a false name, and other sites are pointing out that this is not a female name. All speculation of course, but wow is it odd that we know nothing about her. Not even a photo of her. Nothing really other than her age and that she came to the US on a visa to marry. Are the Feds withholding info they don't want released to the public, or do they not know much about her? Scary if that's the case.

I wonder if his 2014 trip to mecca was when he was picked out, so to speak as mule to get her into the country. It that makes sense. It would be interesting to know which came first the trip or the on line connection I take that to mean the dating site. jmo idk

With the F.B.I. examining Mr. Farook’s electronic devices, analysts and agents have found evidence that at least a day before the attacks, he began deleting data leading investigators to believe that he was planning the attack.

“It’s not like he got angry and came back and started deleting and destroying things,” said one law enforcement official.

I wonder if she had a bank account that money was deposited into possibly from another country. jmo idk

Makes sense. Thought pondering in more ways than one. Another loop hole the gov needs to tighten up if radicals are getting into our country this way. I know I have heard that she checked out and didn't have a criminal background before being approved for the K-1 Visa, but really...How fully was her background explored? How many other loop holes are there in the system?

Before filing for a K-1 Visa a couple must have seen each other in person within 2 years prior to the filing. It is important to collect evidence of having met in person prior to filing and include this evidence with the petition.
An American begins the process of petition

visa, however some choose to hire an attorney to handle the paperwork and facilitate the process.

After the petition has been received by USCIS and proper fees collected, it is typically scanned and the proper background checks are initiated. Once a visa petition has been received by USCIS a notice with a receipt number is provided to the filer.
receives.[SUP][7][/SUP]

During this process a petitioner may receive a RFE if sufficient proof about the relationship or the accuracy of information is not provided.[SUP][8][/SUP]
and provide information about how to schedule a medical exam with the panel physician, how to schedule an appointment for a visa interview at the Embassy, and the required documentation to bring with the foreign fiancé(e) to the interview. Prior to the interview, the foreign fiancé(e) will have to apply for the K1 visa.[SUP][9][/SUP]
c. Additionally income evidence is reviewed to insure that the petitioner meets the minimum income requirements. The current requirement is that the income of the petitioner meet or exceed 100% of the US poverty guidelines. In some cases a co-sponsor can be used to meet this requirement.[SUP][10][/SUP]

Once the interview is finished the Consular officer can issue the visa, if the officer is convinced of a bona fide relationship that meets all legal requirements. The officer may also request that further evidence be submitted before making a decision. If the Consular officer does not think the relationship is bona fide or finds some legal impediment to issuing the visa, the petition will be returned to USCIS and recommended for revocation and no visa will be issued.
A K-1 visa is printed on a self adhesive label, similar to a tourist visa, but annotated with the name of the petitioner. The label is placed into the fiancé(e)'s passport. It is valid for one entry into the United States within six months of the date of issuance.
The total time from filing of the initial petition to the actual issuance of a visa can vary, but recently has averaged around eight months.

Interesting. A lot of the talk theorizes that she was the impetus. But he could have been targeted. It's so bizarre to me. Someone who lives all his life in U.S., good education & gov job that treats him well, accommodates his religious needs. And suddenly he wants to do jihad and likely die. She had to have been radicalized before they met at least in my mind.

I do think they had something else planned. Something bigger. I'm not even sure the attack they did was the focus of the plan. But they were caught and killed fortunately. But they had an arms and bomb stockpile that had been accumulated for a reason. I think the people there were very lucky although that is very hard to say as too many weren't lucky.

This is a war between God/gods if you will and as usual mankind, the workers bees, are the pawns - think of planet earth as a chess board. I believe many people sense it is time to chose whom you will serve.

:cow:

At this point the focus on it may be mixed motives, it is IMO kind of like make apriority - and I think we should move on to the this is terrorsim and quit pondering if it is mixed

The rental car was due to be turned back in that day - i would think if I were planning this for next week I would rent the car for two weeks!

i kinda am leaning that another attack had been planeed the altercation happened and they decided lets to there and then our real target.

But if your real target needed the 12 bombs why leave em at home

have we heard anything from grandma regarding the infant

stup[id question, might they have left earlier than planned (not killing more) -- I wonder if "rain" (Sprinklers) might make them not work as good or somethig.

the visualization of water all over the place with the amount of blood around created quite a messy image in my mind............
