Central California kidnapping: Person of interest in custody, 4 family members still not found

this article states: BBM
"Warnke wouldn't identify the type of business the family was taken from but Naindeep Singh, executive director of Jakara Movement, a Punjabi Sikh community organization in central California, said their family told him they were taken from their gas station and convenience store."
OK so it looks like they had a trailer office on their property... im sure this has been noted

Is that guard dog chained up? Or not really a guard dog?
The dog seems to be chained up. He barely moves far from the entire time. Could also be why the Suspect was not fazed much when he looked out back.
Snipped by me

I thought that as well. Then I tried to rationalise it by thinking, well they were only open about a week so the cameras are a new thing, maybe it's a habit that he looks at them, hasn't got used to ignoring them yet. And they're motion activated so maybe he gets a phone notification when they switch on, so maybe that's why the camera was in his mind so he looked up at it. But I still think Hmmm. There are possibilities.

MOO

Edited to add - I'm hoping the suspect just admits it all and lays everything out. :( just give it all up. Please.
I have had cameras for 7+ years and still routinely look up at mine. Looking for spiders who like to block my view or if they are coming loose or need to be cleaned etc.

My best guess on leaving and coming back so quickly IF there was no other person involved is, maybe the Suspect asked them about their Money ATM/CASH etc and one of the men responded "I don't have it with me." or "I don't know the pin." Maybe even accidently said "My wife handles the finances" so he went back and got her? Just my guess on that part.

That makes sense.

@Sundog , however, raised the possibility of mixed motives that could include hate based motives. Say, the main motive is financial, but the ethnicity of the victims serves as an aggravating factor for the perpetrator. This leads to a more severe crime.

Unless he posted racist rants on social media, it could be difficult to prove the presence of mixed motives. At the same time, I think his social media postings need to be reviewed for that possibility.

Early on I wondered if a secondary motivation could have been a hate crime, but now, after the press conference, I just think this guy was mentally ill. Seriously so.

So it was approximately 2 hours between the perp taking all four of the family members away in the black truck until it was found on fire. 9:20 a.m. the mother and child were taken from the business by the perp, and just over 2 hours later the black truck was found on fire.

unsure if this has been posted, but probably

The reporter says that LE announced at the press conference yesterday that a farmer found one of their cell phones in a rural area. I assume that was a cell phone of one of the victims.

I was thinking about the fact that the two men were seen leaving the business with hands tied behind their backs with zip ties. So was this crime planned, I doubt the business would have zip ties just lying around, so did the perp bring them with him? I think so. Were the victims randomly selected and the perp planned on using them on someone that day? With a gun in his pocket?

Was he out looking for someone to rob that morning and they were selected due to the location and access and isolated area?

Edited to note that LE released information regarding the farmer finding one of the victims' cell phones during the press conference yesterday, not new info released today as I originally posted.

Hinky meter went from 0 to 50% post press conference. Doesn't mean anything other than the timeline and some of the circumstances relayed to the public give the appearance that other variables could be in play.

Ambiguity tends to torture the critical mind.

JMO.

I am guessing that the perpetrator confiscated all of the hostage’s phones???
Was he smart enough to have them all turned off??? Most likely … especially after family started ringing continuously trying to get hold of them…..

Is there a chance that Police could follow the initial “pings” for at least the direction they were first headed??? If the phones weren’t turned off immediately ???

Do those “track my phone“ apps you have linked to your other devices work if the phone is turned off ??? I guess not! But it could show the location where the phones were turned off…??? And hopefully that may be after they left the office …

I saw that too, but I think the door is on a delay. Stays open for 30 seconds or some such.

JMO

It's weird the way you could see it closing the second time, but not the first. Based on the time on the first kidnapping video, it was still open appx 45 seconds after he opened it.
