either that or forgot about it since they didn't know of anyone missing.

I keep wondering if they found it, and planned to keep it. Then they heard about the missing woman and decided they'd better call it in. ?

while I agree with you that it is prudent, some ppl don't prioritize constant contact. its rare but exists!

Why doesn't she buy a $10 car charger?
It seems irresponsible to me, in this day and age, managing school and jobs without keeping ones lines of communication available and open.
I have four grown kids, I don't know how they would manage their busy lives without consistent cell coverage. That is bound to cause problems at school and work, sooner or later.
Someone should buy her cheap charger before it's a problem. IMO

The folks that turned it in didn't find the phone till Monday..by the truck...they say. So, if their story is true, somebody else had the phone Sunday morning when it pinged and put it by the truck on Monday.

Curious couldn't they review tape of where the truck was from the time the phone pinged until it was found Monday? Couldn't they see what cars passed? Giving them an idea of what they are looking for?

Considering the phone pinged Sunday morning miles away from the car, if it was her driving,(which I highly doubt) I dont think she even had the phone with her, so having a charger wouldnt even matter.

My battery runs out all the time. I just now even brought a charger to work. ☺

A"citizen" (which is odd wording) could have found the cell phone "near the truck" that night. It was never reported that the "citizen" SAW the truck, knew about the truck, etc at the time they found the phone. ***LE won't confirm WHEN the phone was found-- before or after the truck. They were asked at a press conference. http://kogo.iheart.com/articles/california-news-489209/streaming-video-news-conference-missing-gridley-15721903/

The "citizen" powered the on the phone at 4:33am to see whose it was, but it shut off. The fact that they had to power it on, probably means it was dead, and it shut off right away. It was never released if the ping came from the time when the "citizen" powered on the phone. I can see her phone being close to dead, if she was using it from the time she went out to eat at 6:00pm, until the time she left the house at 11:00pm. The drive from the house to the orchard wouldn't have given her much time to charge it in her truck. Maybe the "citizen" powered on the phone on the way to Del Taco- which is VERY close to the field, and open 24hrs, because they got the munchies, or maybe they were just running amuck, at 4:33am and that's when the phone pinged. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/aly-yeoman-vehicle-found_us_58e3b926e4b03a26a3665f68

A judge is required to issue a warrant for cell phone records to be released. (I know this because I wasn't even allowed to get my OWN cell phone records when I asked for them.) LE received and served the warrant for the telephone records first thing Monday morning. This is when they determined that the last ping was at 4:33am, IN OR NEAR the field, and organized the search party. http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article142483484.html, https://www.google.com/webhp?source...&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#tbm=lcl&q=del+taco+yuba+city

The EARLIEST I can find a news report on her being missing was on Monday the 3rd at 1:13pm. Maybe the "citizen" was going to keep the phone they found, until they saw the report? Maybe they just got around to turning the phone into "a cell phone store" Monday afternoon after they heard the report? The "cell phone store" charged it to determine who's phone it was, and turned it over to LE. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/aly-yeoman-vehicle-found_us_58e3b926e4b03a26a3665f68

LE questioned the "citizen" and they told LE where they found the phone. LE states that the phone was not found with the truck... perhaps because it was already found. Again they stated that they are not releasing the information on when the phone is found by the "citizen." http://www.kcra.com/article/yuba-college-student-reported-missing-from-gridley/9225137 After the truck is found, search crews were searching between the levee and Feather river, which indicates to ME that the direction of the footprints went towards the river. http://fox40.com/2017/04/05/investi...er-aly-yeomans-movements-before-disappearing/ She was last seen the house, and NOT anyone near the river, which leads me to believe that she never made it to the bonfire.

Again, LE is not releasing all of the info, which they have stated in a press conference. (http://kogo.iheart.com/articles/cal...deo-news-conference-missing-gridley-15721903/) Could the REPORTING be skewing our timeline because they are only reporting what they hear?

I know that I am assuming a lot, but what do you guys think??

I wonder if it was found in the camping/park area, otherwise what are the chances of it just laying around in an orchard and someone fonds it. Is it picking season?

I think you make some great points. Thank you for compiling all of those links too. I personally dont think she was driving that car or if she was she accidentally left her phone behind. To me its just so unlikely the phone happened to be within a square mile of where she was last seen when when it pinged.

My daughter has 3 chargers. She doesn't take them with her. Nor do I. It would do people a load of good to be disconnected once in awhile. A few years ago we didn't have 24 hour a day connectivity. And in every case on WS, cell phones don't keep anyone alive. Jmo.

After reading this thread, news articles etc I am STILL so darn confused over this phone. I don't understand what LE gains by keeping this info close to the vest.

I feel different about it, if my car breaks down or I wreck and end up off road where I can't be seen, I want a cell to call someone.
I turn it off at home frequently but do feel it offers me protection out in the world, I can call for help and be located with a working cell phone. I'm pretty cautious. I guess I passed it down to my kids because they all have chargers.

You may want to reconsider. Maybe they aren't on websleuths because they're alive. You don't have to use your phone all the time but it can definitely be a lifesaver, you can read stories all day of people saved by their cellphone.
Traveling in your car isn't the time to not be locatable or have access to emergency services.

Cellphones have long functioned as the front lines of emergency calling. As technology evolves and phones morph into ubiquitous, highly personal gadgets, they’re becoming genuine safety devices, crammed with features designed to protect us from accidents and injury. Between flashlights, heart monitors, global positioning data and text message warnings, it’s no exaggeration to say that cell phones can save lives.

This all sounds plausible, it is odd they released the ping time and location and haven't released when her phone was found.

After dinner she went back to the house where a party was being hosted. She was drinking and the son said that they tried to get her to stay the night because she had been drinking at their party. The son says his dad walked her out to her car and then she left. The son believed she would have taken the back roads to avoid the police. There are a couple of ways she could have gone to where the vehicle was found (if she was the one driving.) The thing I find odd is that it would have been a 20 minute drive according to a local and from the time she left the house to the video where the vehicle was left was 40 minutes. That is enough time to take her somewhere in Yuba City or somewhere in between YC and the vehicle.

A few things...Has there been any mention of her ID or purse/debit card? And, if she truly traveled only the back roads when drinking, it seems highly unlikely she would cross Hwy 99, <modsnip>

I don't think anything has been mentioned about a purse/ID/money. Which is odd...
