NO parent blaming. Not even "I'm not blaming the parents, but...."

Don't go there.

In ER's manifesto when he was talking about his roommates he wrote that he'd enjoy stabbing them both to death while they slept. I can't help but wonder if he had already stabbed them really early Fri. morning as they were sleeping? That's the only way I can imagine him overpowering three young men. Unfortunately one of his roommates must have had a friend spending the night and maybe sleeping on the couch? ? That would have given him the whole day alone in the apartment to finish his crazy manifesto and email it to everyone that he knew, and prepare for the end of his "redemption."
Just a thought ~

....when there is no indication that he EVER made an effort to engage with one.
That is the cornerstone of the illness , akin to blaming a double amputee for not jogging every day!

The reason why is because mental illness , by many, is not believed to be valid and identical to medical. And Imo, an important point here.Until society makes that leap mental illness will continue to go untreated because of lack of resources ($) and the rampages shall continue, that is sad, if we would make less bombs ..................................................

I may be way behind... but....
Alan Duke's article at CNN.com - he reveals COURT DOCUMENTS as the source-

but this is the section of interest:

The divorce documents also confirmed that Elliot Rodger was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, a form of autism, when he was 7. "Elliot has special needs," his mother said in a sworn statement. "He is a high functioning autistic child."

If it is one thing I have learned recently, it is to only believe what you see - I wonder if these are public record... these reporters can put anything together -

It only seems possible if ER attacked each one of them when they were there alone, or while one was in the shower at the time and the other out ?running/doing something?. If two were present while one was being attacked, I would assume they would have yelled/screamed/got someones attention in the complex???

Too creepy to think any further on this - and, using the guy's own words, he was "twisted" all right!

This could be this one:

Now we have news sources reporting the family was struggling financially ?
But they are actually going by the divorce documents. Come on, their divorce was in the 1990's.
However "father" went back to court in 2009, to have CS reduced. Sorry I misspoke ~

It was 16 years ago that "father" was trying to get his child support reduced!
They are reporting the finance's of 1998!
Anything for a story, even if it inaccurate.

Do you have a link where the news is saying there is a current financial struggle?

The movie he financed came out in 2009. It bombed. So I suppose the money troubles could have been real. It's all relative. If a person is accustomed to a certain lifestyle, any diminishment is felt as a hardship.

I misspoke about it being in 1998. That was when they divorced I think. It was actually 2009 when his dad went back to court for a child support reduction ~
I was going by these

court papers

I finally fell asleep at 7 am after taking a sleeping pill at 10 pm. My hubby hates when I get like this but until I can make sense out of a situation, I can not shut off thinking about it. Does anyone have a list of the songs ER played in his videos? TIA

This has all the vids in a compalation with narration (music removed but it tells you which songs). Warning though, it is an hour long-

Hope this site is "OK" to link. If not just let me know or remove it please mods!

ETA- If you mouse and "scroll" through the frames you will notice the white pages, those are the ones with the video info.

Here are some links, but I think the one I saw earlier was on TMZ or radar online

Yes, I knew about 2009, and I believe it was true he was having financial problems then. So there is no news report of current financial troubles?

Generally speaking ...

I can only imagine it must be difficult for a psychiatrist to sit down with little-prince-"Johnny"'s parents and tell them that little "Johnny" is a very, very troubled young boy/man/whatever, but that is precisely the job of the psychiatrist.

But ... with the known stigma of the permanent attachment of any serious looming mental/personality diagnosis, I hope psychiatrists and parents aren't working toward an effort of under-diagnosing, at least on paper, any true diagnosis just to try to eliminate the connection of dots (from ins co, health org, when needed by LE, etc) and therefore the stigma from the-little-"Johnny"'s-of-the-world who also risk being the future perpetrators of horror incidences similar to those which we all find ourselves here today discussing. JMO

I also fear this might be happening a whole lot more than any of us want to know. JMO

I agree!

· The basic “rules” are the same in the field there might be subtle differences(like number of days) I just am doing this cause it came back first on Google! Ignore the state below and some terms are different (what invol committed is “called” but same premise everywhere !

Very nice composition! Thanks

Dear Mega Sleuths:

There is only one Internet Portal - only one forum where high level information can be captured, obtained, granted.

And here we are... (smile)

Okay, a question for the Mega Sluths - there is one musical video in the "Elliot's Adventures" set

- it's "driving on a foggy day in Santa Barbara."

This is the video where the music has been excised/muted for IP purposes.

Rather than display my dismay, I wanted to ask the team if we know what song is playing? Uncertain when they restricted this ( Grrr.... whio made that call, gee)Please be kind enough to let me know your thoughts.

Most respectfully,

The G

Not sure if you got an answer yet. Still catching up.

This vid still has the music, better listen fast though I am sure it will be snatched away soon (DarkTube seems to have a lot that YT pulls tho).-

Has anybody come across any information that Rodger ever saw a military recruiter or expressed an interest in joining the military? Playing a hunch here....

I wonder if he was on xanax(sp?) and combined it with some weird and wonderful bodybuilder drug? Or I am even beginning to wonder if it's possible there was a bad batch of something, and ER might not have been the only one affected....but I am waiting on details of another case, before I really explore that.

I mention the xanax because in little Fiona Chafoulais' case in France, her mom was taking that, and mixing it with another drug, which had a very bad effect on her. If you count burying your own daughter and forgetting where you put her to be a bad effect...:(

It seems strange that a few people who knew ER are suggesting there was quite a sudden and recent change in him, and that his fluent online communications were unrecognizable. I wouldn't have thought someone with Asperger's could suddenly change and open up like that?

I just wanted to add that it seems the only people who did stick to ER for any length of time, all seem to have been essentially kind and supportive people, willing to put up with his awkwardness.

So I do think if they'd had any inkling he would actually hurt anyone, they'd have said.

I do wish someone had managed to divert him from his most recent fixation. All his others had passed, and I think the 'beautiful blonde' one would have gone too, eventually. Perhaps he could have been guided into a less harmful obsession, where he stood some chance of success and satisfaction?

Personally, I don't feel he was lonely, despite what he wrote and said. I think he was only really at ease in his own company, but had found nothing to do that gave him any satisfaction as an adult. Except the carpentry work. Maybe that just wasn't on the radar for a child of his background, but it's a shame if so. There's nothing wrong with carpenters.....
