JURY SELECTION STARTS, COURT DATE SET IN CHRISTOPHER LEE MURDER TRIAL

Preliminary jury selection in the murder trial of Christopher Lee started this week, but due to a conflict with the judge’s schedule, the juror panels will be called back to court October 3. Lee, 27, is accused of strangling his neighbor and former lover, Erin Corwin, 19, of Twentynine Palms, and dumping her body down a mine shaft east of Twentynine Palms in June 2014. Her body was found seven weeks later after an intensive search of 100 mines in a 300-square mile area in the Rose of Peru mining area. Lee was a Marine stationed at and living on the Marine Corps base in Twentynine Palms, and Lee and Corwin were next door neighbors at the time of Corwin’s murder. Lee has been held in county jail without bail since his arrest in August 2014.

So was the jury chosen and the trial starts Monday? Or were all the prospective jurors postponed until Monday and the whole jury process starts then?

We have a jury and 6 alternates. They will do motions tomorrow and Thursday. The trial will start on Tuesday the 11th.

Make sure to take notes and write your questions down. There should be a victims advocate there for you that will be your lifeline. The process can be very confusing and overwhelming. Ask ask ask questions. They won't come to you only because this is second nature to them and the lawyers forget we don't know and understand the process like they do. It will be interesting to see what they actually have as far as evidence. I mean, what they have entered so far is flimsy to say the least. Uncorroborated witness statements, most of which came after it was well known that Lee was a suspect. (It is well established that people lie all the time if they think it'll put a murderer behind bars, especially in the U.S.) Witness statements explaining a possible motive he might have had without coming near establishing intent at all. And double hearsay testimony about text messages that are claimed to have come from Erin, but for all we know came directly from her killer. I'm surprised they let that last one in, I mean that is a HUGE appeals issue for the defense.

They do have a lot of physical evidence, but all of it ties back to a vehicle that at least 3 other people had access to, 2 of whom have even more motive than Lee himself had. Very shotty work.

Oops I thanked before reading but totally DISAGREE with these thoughts. They have PLENTY of hard evidence on CL I don't doubt at least life if not DP for one minute. He is DONE, I only wish NL was done as well.
