I just picked up some useful information. About 10 percent of all cars are red. About 76 percent are gray, silver, white or black. I suppose one could do a study on population density within 25 miles of where Erin's car was found and then deduce the number of red cars one might expect to find within that area. Of course, red is a sports car color. So you are likely to find more red cars in areas where the population is relatively young.
 
We know two apartments and two cars got search warrants. How do you explain that to your spouse? JMO
 
Did anyone watch JVM tonight? Wasn't there supposed to be another witness on the show?
 
Hello Fellow Websleuthers! I registered and decided to post based on another user's acute observation that there were many more lurkers than posters, so here I come, happy to join your community!

This case really resonates with me.

It's pretty conclusive that we know Erin was having an affair or otherwise relations with someone other than her husband. I can almost say that is certain. If not, her family would have spoken up with evidence to the contrary. And engaging in those relations doesn't make her any less of a person or make her less of a victim. But it sure does help point to areas of interest within the investigation.

I remember an article stating that the 2013 Corolla was "The Corwins'" car though I cannot link it now, but I believe that JC an Erin had one car that they shared. I don't believe that the position or potential moving of her car has big implications for this investigation. The point is, she met someone that she didn't want to share publicly that she was meeting, and then disappeared.

I believe that LE knows what's up and would not be searching in JT if they didn't have reason to believe she was there. I hope they find her soon. I agree with others that LE is building their case and that they are keeping quiet for a reason. As far as the spouses of Marines not speaking out- the spouses and SOs are typically expected to adopt the same standards as their husbands, meaning that if the Marines are ordered to keep quiet, so will their spouses and other family members.

I think that that the perp may possibly be a bit older than Erin, at least 25 and probably older. Maybe a commanding officer. I would be very surprised if it's someone of JCs rank and age. A younger perp would have buckled under investigation by now, and LE knows what happened and has a good idea of who they're looking for. May be two perps, one primary and one accessory.
 
A couple of other thoughts about the Military culture:

-If a commanding officer were somehow involved, officers beneath hum/her are expected to be obedient and obey whatever commands are set forth
-Don't know this for a fact, but I would expect that Marines are trained to handle interrogations (i.e., POW situations).

When I think of the red car, I think of the type of personalities that are "usually" attracted to the color red. Usually type A personalities, flashy, confident, definitely aren't introverts, like to be noticed when they enter a room, need a lot of attention, and strive to stand out from the rest. I think it would be a mistake to read too much into the color of the red car. My daughter has always wanted a blue card and, through some sort of cosmic joke, all three of her cars have been red. Go figure, LOL. So, people can end up with a red car because it's available and they like it better than white or black, not because they are specifically drawn to a red car.

Statistically, my guess is, cars on a military base are MUCH more likely to be red than the general population. Lots of young testosterone driven guys. I would guess that cars in a very exclusive gated community with older families would be less likely to be red - and retirement condo complexes would be even less likely to be red. I would guess more than 10% of the cars on a marine base are red.

Well, there's a reason it costs more to insure a red car. Because they are involved in more accidents. Because people who own them are more reckless.
 
i usually rent cars for vacations...and i think the car i was driving when i got a speeding ticket in VA was red.....must have made me feel more "reckless and speedy".....LOL

Welcome FuziePie! I really like some of your thought processes in the first post. :) However, I'm curious if you are thinking that a Marine would obey orders that make them accessory to a murder. Because, UCMJ is very clear that service members are expected to obey all legal orders, rather than all orders. In fact, as I understand it from my Uncle (retired DI), a Marine would have an equally strong duty to disobey an illegal order as they would to obey a lawful order.

Now, probably somewhere, there is a Marine who might do just that out of loyalty to the CO but they aren't supposed to.

moonbeams, do you know the housing section the Corwins live/d in? I'm asking because, the other day, I found a description of the housing areas (Lincoln Military Housing). Each housing section has a range of ranks assigned to it that apply to the person wanting (or assigned) to live there. Some list E-1 to E-5, whereas some list only E-4 to E-5 with another combination being E-1 to E-3.

Two housing sections that have been brought up in posts on WS are Condor Heights and Sunflower Terrace, both housing areas listed for the ranks of E-1 to E-3.
Iirc, the couple moved on base in October 2013. Jon returned from Okinawa in October and, on the same day, was promoted to E-4, Corporal. Every housing area besides those two incorporates E-4 and E-5's (indicating CH and ST are geared toward the most junior enlisted which would mean the marine's first and second years of service).

I'm questioning if the couple were assigned housing in one of those two areas despite that he was promoted to E-4 the month they moved in and they would live in that housing as E-4s the entire length of their assignment. It definitely could happen that way but seems weird to me unless housing is very scarce throughout the base.

Another puzzle is why the ages of the people who do or have lived on Jasmine Dr. (Street or Drive?) don't match the ages of the majority of junior enlisted people.
These issues are causing me to question if units D and F are in the same location where the couple was living.
Has that been an assumption or has their housing section been officially revealed?

It seems that while Condor Heights is inside a gated area and is listed as being on base, it really isn't on base base (if that makes sense). It appears the commissary, schools and working buildings are north of CH and one must go through another gate to get to the places that are located "on base".

Yet another housing area, Vista Del Sol, is described as being a fully gated community off base that consists of three separate communities.
