Sorry if I confused anyone. When I said "army" I meant the generic term, an organized collective of people armed and trained for warfare. Any military branch would qualify as such. I would also find it difficult to believe there are any people calling themselves "Marine Brats".

Uh, yes, there is such a saying as a Marine Brat. Military Brat is the term most used which encompasses the Armed Forces, and Army Brat is an endearing term used for "children" of soldiers of the US Army.
Thanks for explaining your "generic" term.

Why? I'm proud to say I was an Air Force Brat.

Hubby just laughs at me. He thinks I'm nutty anyway because I follow these cases and talk about them all the time and think I might be able to do something and/or make a difference. He just thinks the whole concept of people thinking dead bodies are mannequins to start with is funny, seeing as how no one we know has ever seen a real mannequin dumped in a ravine, in the desert, on the side of the road, etc. So he cracks up at my sense of humor when I tell him I'm looking for one and how disappointed I am that I never see one.

I forgot about the fact that CL is still in the reserves and can't go off the grid. Yeh, he'll have to show up for the court date if he wants to keep his honorable discharge intact.

A mannequin showed up in my garage one day (assume it was from thieving teenagers, probably mine, didn't ask) and I used it on the front porch for a few years at Halloween, and then threw it away in a dumpster upside down with the legs sticking out. I was a bit worried someone would think it was a dead body. Lol.

Heck, he could even be helping the investigation right now by begging the Sheriff's to release more information to the public to get more sightings and possibly tack down a search location. Is his army career really worth all this?

MARINES! He is in the marines. Ya know - once a marine, always a marine. :)

I have a couple of Navy Brats of my own! Agree with all of the above.

Thanks for clarifying, Mrs. Gladden!

I'm glad he honored Erin and respected her family's wishes. This is a point in favor of him...since he seems to draw either approval or scorn. Curious to see where he pops up next! lol

However, I'm disappointed that means fewer people looking for Erin this weekend, and now the areas near Pioneertown and the horse ranch will remain unsearched. Why, oh why, LE??? What lead are you pursuing??? (I know they won't tell us...just frustrated with the lack of progress in this case.)

Praying LE's group find her!!

How on earth does it "honor" Erin to not be looking for her?

Yes, the air force is a recognizable division in the military. Marines aren't all that well established.

I really don't get why we're fighting over what branch of the army he's in. It's not that important. What is important is that the army seems to be far too important to him than it would be to a normal person in his situation. That's all I'm saying :moo:

Not to mention he needed to say something about his missing wife, a lonnnnnnnnnng time ago

The whole reason is because of the mention of the word Army. He is a Marine. Your usage of your "generic" word might be correct in your vernacular, but it is incorrect militarily speaking.
So, moving on......

With all due respect, he is not in the Army! Armed forces - yes. Army - no!

It's not that the armed forces are more important to him rather they drill it in your head from day one - you are a Marine FIRST and everything else is secondary. Perhaps he has asked to talk to the media and LE and or his superiors have requested he not do so. What is it that you want to hear from him? That he wants his wife found? Well of course he does but going in front of the media probably will not make that happen.

The more accurate generic term would be "military" to be honest. For example, the Marines is not known as a branch of the army. It is a branch of the military. The Army, is a branch of the military. The military is a larger force. The Navy, Army, Coast Guard, Air Force and Marines are subsets of the military.

Also, I completely disagree with your opinion regarding the Marines being more important than his wife in regards to JC. We all have no idea what LE knows and doesn't know. From very early on, this case appeared to very much be one where the victim was most likely dead (very sad to say). I would think that JC would only cause himself more grief by speaking up. He is going through so very much dealing with possible infidelity and loss of the one that he loves. He does not need the media hassle as well.

I would also like to add, if you have never been a member of the military... Please do not take speaking against their advice as a light thing to do. Things are not always that easy, especially considering we do not know anywhere near 100% of the facts.

Iirc JC did one interview in the very beginning, might link might be in my timeline early on. He didn't show his face but a reporter talked to him unless I am dreaming. I don't blame him for not talking, i can't imagine the questions and what could he say. Please bring my wife back even though it appears she doesn't want to be with me!!!

This may be the report you're thinking of: http://www.kmir.com/story/25930731/wife-of-marine-still-missing-husband-speaks-exclusively-with-kmir

army

Oxford: "An organized military force equipped for fighting on land"
American Heritage: "A large body of people organized and trained for land warfare."
Merriam-Webster: "a large organized body of armed personnel trained for war especially on land"

Maybe a Marine might disembark from a naval vessel or perhaps an airship or helicopter, but when they fight in a war, the fighting they do will always take place on land. They are a land-centric fighting force that only uses naval and air vessels as quick transportation to land targets. They are "An organized military force equipped for fighting on land", or an army.

I heard someone say these things before, probably you, so I'll just let you know why this is coming up again. Someone found this article : http://www.sbsun.com/general-news/2...marines-pregnant-wife-taking-new-twists-turns in which an army spokesperson advised the media that Jon was told he was fully able to talk to the media but that he declined to do so. I am just wondering why anyone in this position wouldn't plead with the media on a daily basis to get the word out about your wife whose gone missing, let alone not talk about it at all ..

Correct, an organized military force. A subset of the military.:deadhorse:
