So they didn't assume [Corwin'd] voluntarily gone missing, even describing her vehicle as being "abandoned" (don't they mean parked!!) outside her home.
Briefly, the car wasn't parked in front but left a short distance away, altho she'd told people she was driving by herself to JT Park. But mainly, her friend revealed the victim was planning to go out that day with her lover, which he denied ... so LE immediately suspected him. He'd talked to various people about hiding a body, and was fascinated by mine shafts.

Sure, but it matters not whether her car was right outside house or short distance away. I was merely making the point (from reading a media report recently posted here and with not a scrap of knowledge in that case) about the difference in LE response to a female going missing.

Jin Fang's family/friends have made it abundantly clear that their loved one isn't voluntarily missing and was likely in danger

LE know that she was last seen with a man convicted of a serious assault (there's likely more they know about him that we do not)

It's known where her phone was last used. It's known where his vehicle was last seen. It's known where his phone last pinged. But have there been area searches ?? BOLO for vehicle...woman possibly in danger ??

It just seems without a family member of Jin's on the ground in CA making noise that very little effort has been made to find her

My mind keeps wandering back to this case where a woman ended up dumped in a mine right near this area.... the Rose of Peru mine is a few minutes away from where the last evening video was taken by JF.

Depths and dark spaces scare me but I'm hoping this mine and others have been boarded up/secured since?

Quite possibly, but I think it's more the vagueness of where/when she went missing. There are no facts to investigate, which is what LE need. I'm sure officers are keeping their eyes open for the vehicle.

There's a case in W.Virginia right now, woman missing with 3 small children. LE have put out BOLO asking for sightings, but there's no search because they have no evidence that she didn't just run away.

Mod Reminder:

To ensure that factual information is discussed on WS, links to MSM reports or LE statements are required for statements made as fact. The exception to this rule is when we have a Verified Insider that is a family member or friend of the victim or missing person.

The Verified Insider process is completely confidential and details can be found here: Verification Process for Professional or Insider Posters

In order to adhere to the standards WS has in place and best support families, any posts stated as fact when someone is not a VI will be removed along with any responses to those posts. These may be reinstated upon completion of the verification process. I have extended an invitation to @mark1969 to become verified on this thread.

Thanks for your understanding and feel free to use the report feature on this, or any post, if you have any questions.

Thanks,

We all know that LE, and people in power at large, respond to public pressure and interest around a situation, for better or worse. And people/the public respond to things/raise pressure by feeling emotionally pulled in by a story.

I think a key part of what is missing here (in the sense of the case getting more attention and movement) is a compelling story about JF and her disappearance - who she is, what she was out here to do, what did she hope for her trip, and what does her missing status mean to the people who love her?

Yes, in various ways, that storytelling could be easier if she had loved ones on the ground. But there are other options for how to tell this story and try to get it out online, in a way that compels traditional reporters and online storytellers to echo and amplify that story. Doing so would also raise awareness among the local population, and among potentially interested non-locals who would organize and put pressure on reporters and LE for updates.

There may be a reason JF's loved ones haven't chosen to share more about her and the trip and the impact of her being missing, or perhaps it's not something they've realized could help build movement on the case. Idk. But lacking a moving story about her and why her case deserves attention makes it challenging to create more public noise and attention that could compel additional press/LE action.

Thank you! Welcome to Websleuths! If you need help figuring out (for example) how to contact the Southern California Chinese Consulate or understanding how the various law enforcement bureaus interact (or how to contact them), please let us know. Feel free to contact me by DM (direct message). You do that by clicking on someone's name and clicking "start conversation." (Not everyone participates in the private/direct conversations, and sometimes it takes a day or two for someone to answer.

Could it be usefull to use drones and helicopters to search for the blue Toyota Tacoma ? Or do we focus on a storageplace nearby Julians or Mexican border where truck could be hidden ? Where would we start ?

I am tagging @KALIMOUSE to see if they can offer any advice re: using a drone, they have excellent knowledge about drones.

Edited for spelling.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure drones or helicopters could adequately cover this vast area. San Bernardino County is over 20,000 square miles, roughly twice the size of Belgium. And that's assuming that they didn't leave the county.

I do have one idea. Recently there's been some talk about using AI tools to search satellite imagery. From one article:

A researcher from AI company Synthetaic has created a tool that will allow users to find virtually any large object that exists in any satellite photo of the Earth within just one day.

Maybe you could reach out to Synthetaic and see if they would be willing to help look for a blue truck in a remote desert location somewhere in the SW US.
