Sal was AWESOME on the guitar!!! It will be hard going into the Christmas season thinking about all three of them. Sal, Gianni and Ilona who's lives where just stolen.

FYI as of last week Carlo was still in SD jail but just now checked again and he's not there. Hope he is getting the proper treatment to stand trial now.

It's really sad I just hope if the retail market is making people work late this holiday season they are at least making sure the cameras are working in the parking lots and there is enough security to protect the workers and the shoppers IMO it's just common decency. There is no reason that a woman just getting off of working a late shift to do last min Christmas shopping for her kids would have been any different.

He is still there or am I reading this wrong?

Crap I entered his info 2x and said he wasn't there. You are correct he's still there and I have a feeling he will be for a long time. ARGH!!!!

Going back to Curious Me's post, I can't imagine he is getting much of any help in terms of getting better there.

While the jail does provide therapy and medication through the county’s Behavioral Health Department — there are four full-time mental health employees and two psychiatric doctors that provide 10 hours of clinical services a week — treatment at the jail is voluntary. And those with mental illness often refuse treatment.

I think even if he is currently at Patton it still shows he is jail custody because he is technically just at an extended doctors appt

He's good on that guitar. It takes a lot of practice to be able to play that song. Thanks for posting it.

Yes, horrible. With that type of diagnosis, I wouldn't want guns around. Still wondering why he had a gun handy.

This "sister" has a disconnect to life as her brother seemed to have IMO in killing his parents. Sadly the holidays bring out a lot of demons in those that have mental illness issues. So I see your connection...

Too sad that the holidays now bring out more depression, demons, and thievery than
good will and joy. I'm kind of afraid to shop during the holiday season now days.

I totally agree with you, Best. The malls need to make sure their cameras, lighting, and security are protecting all of us. Cameras not working...unforgivable.

It helps me to believe he made it to Heaven, and they, all three, are there together.
That's where I want to go, too.

I don't think he would show up as being in SD jail if he was transferred. At the very minimum the location would be changed to an abbreviation for Patton and not remain at the 3/PSU ward at Central jail. MOO

Another case where the defendant is headed to Patton due to mental incompetency.
Is it just me or does it seem like there are a lot more cases like this lately?

http://www.sandiego6.com/news/local...-is-incompetent-to-stand-trial-284661021.html

"Miller will be sent to Patton State Hospital for up to three years or until his competency is restored, the judge said."
I know that guy. There is a lot more to that story. The first guy he shot was his former business partner who bankrupted their company and then stole the IP and then sold it for millions of dollars, here is where the 2nd shooting comes into play because of his company failing his gold digger wife left him and took everything. The wife was staying with her brother who is a realtor and was selling Hans and the Wife's property against Hans' wishes. If I remember correctly the name of the company was Traversa. I'm by no means saying what he did was right but there is a big difference in what happened. I'm not sure if Hans is crazy but I know he had alcohol issues after his company failed. CM is a different type of sick I wonder if his family has been talking to dateline or 48 hours? I've got my CFA exam on the 6th so I've been studying and not keeping up with what is going on!

Omg it linked me to the wrong story! Haha I thought it was the biotech shooting in 2013 lol so many crazy people :/

I'm just a news reader worried about the future. Everytime I read about another defendant going to Patton State Hospital it makes me concerned. What can we do?!!

It seems there's a need to shift some federal, state, and county money in the budgets to expand mental health programs and facilities in the future. We need to do more towards mental health.

San Diego county will hopefully implement California's Laura's Law to help family members and the community be more proactive. I don't know much about it yet, but it sounds like a move towards solutions.

There's info and a fact sheet here.

I recently sat on a panel for prop 46 before it did not pass (thank god) parts of the prop would mean doctors would have to check CURES before prescribing medication and of course there are other dynamics with the prop but that was one of the points. The panel consisted of insurance reps, drug reps, doctors, trial lawyers, and others from both sides. My argument was that before something like this should even be considered for funding we need to implement something for CURES and gun sales. I don't think if someone has been prescribed drugs for psychotropic disorders should be allowed to buy a gun. When running a background check to buy a gun ATF needs to respond within 72 hours and if they don't the seller can legally sell the gun without the background check. CM bought his gun legally while being treated for mental sickness; Eliot Rodgers bought his gun legally while being treated for skitzophrenia, James Holmes was under treatment for mental issues that included being treated with drugs, and same goes for Adam Lanza. Everyone on the panel agreed except the trial lawyers haha it really bothers me when people see a family member with mental problems and try to bond with them over guns.
