Hopefully, the police investigating were able to find the last place the family stopped for gas and/or a potty break to see if all the children and the two dogs were actually in one vehicle or not.. part of me wonders/hopes that Devonte was able to get enough supplies (food as requested) from the neighbor to make a run for it with his other siblings that are missing. Maybe the other three children didn't want to leave?

Absolutely, my rough googling showed around a 10/11 hour journey from home to where they finally ended up so they must have stopped somewhere, at the least for gas. Maybe they were seen somewhere and this is why LE are feeling all six children were in the car. I'm still dubious until they publicly confirm they were.

Yes, I am too. Hopefully, we'll find out for sure if everyone was seen in the vehicle before it went over the cliff. I find it hard to believe all six kids and two dogs were ejected from the vehicle at once...

I do hope there is video footage that can confirm that all the children were in the car at some point on the 10-11 hr drive, but even so, it would not necessarily be proof that the missing 3 were in the car when it went over the cliff. These poor victims could have been harmed during the journey, and left somewhere difficult to find. There are just so many layers of tragedy in the story, it is so hard and so very painful to try to comprehend. Truly heartbreaking.

Children who have had a rough start in life, such as Devonte, can have debilitated physical growth, and remain small the rest of their lives. This would be true for these individuals even if they are adopted into a caring family and given proper nutrition, and not adopted into a family that withholds food as a disciplinary tool as these children were. I hope these women didn't also keep the kids on some kind of "diet" so they'd always look good on camera (according to the two mom's tastes), but that belongs in the realm of speculation.

During an interview with police, Abigail told a detective that Jennifer was the one who hit her (although Sarah was the one who ultimately pled guilty), Oregon Live reported. Abigail said that Jennifer was angry because a penny fell out of her pocket.

The police investigating the case said there weren’t any other signs of abuse in the home. Det. Sgt. Larry Dailey told Oregon Live: “From what I recall, they were very anti-system folks. They didn’t like the school or that the police intervened, and they certainly didn’t like the outcome.”

IME, it's not uncommon for other siblings to disagree or outright lie about abuse within a dysfunctional family. Maybe

I don't mean to sound like I don't believe her. Just that I had not read it, or maybe retained it is more accurate. The earlier info I thought I'd retained correctly was that all but one boy had been "spanked" and that one mom was said to have witnessed the other mom spank the victim. But that should be considered speculation since I don't have a link, atm.

People who have spent their entire lives practicing gaslighting other people become really great at it.

People being gaslighted have trouble accepting that they've been duped once they figure it out, and they don't want anyone to know because they feel stupid and embarrassed. But they were tricked by a manipulator so they shouldn't feel bad about themselves, and they should warn others.

Trust the accountings of the kids, as told by those who have no bias. The reason kids continue to be abused is because society continues to fail them by not believing them, and by believing the liars and cryers.

Sounds like his "mom" forced him to hug the police officer so she could take a picture to portray her "perfect progressive family" appearance.

He was probably crying because he's literally hugging help, but unable to get help.

I envision a lot of emotional manipulation and coercion of these kids by the parents. Probably revving them up to feel emotional and "suggesting " they do certain things like hug someone but making the child feel like it's their own idea.

I don't get the feeling that this kid was in fear in those moments. But definitely emotionally manipulated. Had he lived (assuming here dead) I don't know how he would cope as a normal adult outside certain extreme hippy communities.

After reading some comments from friends of this family, I reserve judgment until all the facts are in. If these children were being mis-treated, it will come out. If these children were dealing with trauma and food insecurity, the onset of adolescence could make it worse, which will come out. All I know is the outpouring of love for this family, coming from their extended network of family and friends, is enormous.

One of the parents was convicted of a crime related to the abuse of one of their children. So yes. It is definitvie that they were being mistreated.

Is the other 3 kids are in fact in the water is their anyway for police to be able to tell? Like can they get divers to check? If they do have any hope of retrieving the kids from the water they need to do so sooner rather than later apparently you decompose faster in water not trying to be graphic. Maybe the neighbors seen the whole family leave thats why police think that all the kids were there.

Is Gray Hughes an investigator or a regular person giving his opinions?

He is a YouTube citizen journalist. His channel is interesting, but he doesn't verify his information, and seems to jump to conclusions. So you should probably take his videos with a grain of salt.

From what I recall of Oregon you cannot pump your own gas. They take that very seriously. So if they got gas in Oregon there should be a witness. Also the rest stops in Washington and Oregon are the best. Free coffee and cookies at many and I think they always have people on site even overnight. If the Harts traveled a lot they would know the areas and know where to park closest to the bathrooms & avoid interactions with anyone. That would have been a chance for the 3 to make a run for it. IF say one mom stayed in car with 3 and other mom escorted 3. I'm sure LE has thought of that. The restrooms are really great there, can't imagine making that drive without a few stops. Anybody know if there are missing flyers up anywhere?
My thoughts on the penny in the pocket are how dare she have a penny! Where did she get it? I'm thinking if the one child is asking for tortillas and peanut butter that they are not allowed any of their own money. It's a power thing.
Missing teeth child, I think she is the one in the rainbow wig in the "blah, blah beautiful" picture. It's not 2 front teeth but closer to eyetooth and next tooth over. Fine on a child but not on someone that has all of their adult teeth.

This family lived in the Twin Cities and got in trouble with CPS before moving to Oregon and then Washington. They were in the process of being contacted by CPS in Washington before the car went off the cliff with everyone in it.

They were temporarily famous for the photo of one of their sons crying and hugging a cop during the Ferguson protest. The photo is shown on the link here:

Also, according to local news (Minneapolis) the car was clocked at 90 MPH and there were no skid marks on the road.

Gray Hughes is a long time Websleuths member. One of the things that concerns me about his video is that he refers to the "car tracks" as if they were made by the GMC Yukon. The CHP, and others, have clarified that those tracks and the ruts near the cliff were made by the recovery vehicles. There were no unusual tracks made by the family vehicle.

If you read the comments on the video, he has acknowledged that now. But was slow to do so. He must not spend too much time on Websleuths, or he would have better information before he makes his videos.

All six of them looked malnourished, just like the Turpin children. They've had custody of the kids for 10 years. They should have been putting on a bit of weight by now.

This just reinforces my belief, that not only should we have free universal healthcare for everyone, but it should be mandatory especially for children.

They were probably never introduced to sports, bicycles, video games and all the other fun things kids do today. I wonder if the 19 yr old was ever offered driving lessons.

These parents were monsters just like the Turpins. Only let them out when they the Women wanted to do something that benefitted them. Again like the Turpins animals were probably better cared for.

I hope they are using divers to look for the bodies. Unfortunately it could take divers weeks or even months to find them. The ocean is big, and the currents will keep moving bodies around.
