My thoughts EXACTLY...3 counts of neglect....2 when he left BOTH kids 'home alone' while going to the bank....1 leaving Hasanni 'behind' SHUZ...:behindbar
Go easy on me, I'm only related to cops so that doesn't give me any souped up knowledge of LE really, unless I ask...and they'd laugh at me over the "I need info for my forum' thing. Old skool cops (the ones in my family, suck)
The only knowledge I have of child neglect/abuse stuff comes from dealing with a situation where I took in a relatives child after they almost killed him, and what I've learned here.
here's my take...
The Fremont thing, leaving them while going to the bank, is kinda a waste because nothing happened (that we know of). Yes, the child was at risk, and Social Services could remove the child for that, but it probably wouldn't amount to a jailable (is that a word?) offense.
On the other hand, he freely admits that he left Hasanni standing by the back door of Shuz, even if he didn't. That's a confession in my book, especially if it's all over news video's. And, as a DIRECT result of his actions, this child is now missing. The proof that he commited a crime is in the fact that Hasanni is gone if you accept his account of events.
Endangering the welfare of a child?
Abuse of a helpless or dependent person?
Neglect?
I wouldn't know exactly what to call it out there because the Code of Law is going to read differently in different states but SURELY there are several criminal codes he violated just by leaving Hasanni where he SAYS he did.
I'd like for them to lock him up for the 'leaving him by the door' story because I want to see how the story changes then. How would he back peddle his way out of that? Then he would have to change his story to get THOSE charges thrown out. The only way would be to say his original story was a lie. He confessed. I've seen murderers convicted on nothing but a confession for God's sake. And here in South Carolina, neglect can carry up to a ten year sentence. If they locked him up, put him in GP, and made the d@mn charges STICK, LR would not be a happy camper after living in a cage for a week or two with twenty guys who believe he killed a helpless child. Common sense would dictate that self preservation would kick in at that point and he would be forced to concentrate on a different set of issues other than the crime making headlines. Then he'd be forced to concentrate on getting the neglect kicked, not the murder. That's when he'll screw up and hang himself. IMO.
I'm not for one instant suggesting that LE should make things up or fudge. That would make me a hypocrite for sure. I simply believe that surely the DA would stick a neglect charge. I just tend to think it would be a good starting point if they wanted to put pressure on him. They need a charge with 'teeth' and IMO neglect is it.
