I know I’ve said before that I believe Ilene was alive and safe or something along those lines but honestly that was wishful thinking and I was still relatively new to sleuthing at the time I said things like that.
I now believe however, that Ilene was abducted and murdered on the day she disappeared. A girl matching her description was seen entering a van with several unidentified juvenile males on San Ramon Boulevard sometime between 2:50 pm and 3:10 pm on the day she disappeared. Other witnesses might’ve seen her entering a mid-1980s white four door American made Sedan near John Mape Park on the path she usually took home.
Whether these sightings are true or not idk but I thought I’d post them since I’ve been doing more research on Ilene’s abduction. I also don’t believe Ilene’s disappearance is connected to any of the other missing girls. Not even Michaela, it looks like her killer, David Misch, was in prison for drug possession when Ilene went missing.
In regards to Tim Bindner, I don’t believe he was involved in any of the cases mentioned previously. I think he was just very creepy and wanted to involve himself with the families due to his fixation on each case.
I believe in the realm of already named suspects, James Daveggio seems like a very likely candidate. I doubt his wifey Michaud was involved obviously but he remains a suspect in the case. Per this Unsolved Mysteries summary about the Misheloff case:
“Daveggio was known to abduct young women who were outside during the daytime; he was also known to strike during the fall and winter months. Some of his victims were also around her age. The other abductions that he committed took place close to where Ilene was last seen. Also, he was living in Pleasanton, five miles from Dublin, at the time of her disappearance. He also had a girlfriend in Dublin at the time.”

It seems Ilene’s dad also believes she’s deceased and hopes her remains are found but doubts it since it’s been so long since her abduction. I hope so too.
