The first story you linked was a statement from Patrick saying there were 5 according to him, then he goes on to say that one of them was the preliminary hearing... that is the video you linked earlier. That preliminary hearing did not look at all like it was Merritt's fault IMO

The second link... is wiki lol But I am curious to know all 5 attorney's if you know them. I know that Maline was part of a team of attorney's, or maybe it was just him and another guy? I don't really know.

These were the attorney’s involved with Chase..

Robert Ponce, David Call, Jimmy Mettias, Sharon Brunner, Jim Terrell, Rajan Maline, and James McGee.

THIS!

From Sequieda's testimony:

The agreement as he understood it was: Metro was going to do all the sheetmetal work, Joseph was selling and handling whatever invoicing, and Mr. Merritt was going to do the plumbing, the pumps that operated the water features, the electrical, etching, rocks, tile, etc. and he was going to videotape them, crate them and ship them.

Merritt was already not doing the welding, I even recall Carmen saying they had welders there. It seems to me that Chase's roll had already changed, but even the Sequieda's knew that Chase was getting 65%. And you are correct, according to Sequieda Jr and Carmen, Sequieda Sr was ticked that he didn't know the selling the prices of the fountains and thought he should get a bigger cut (whether it was because they were doing some of Chase's jobs or because they didn't think they were getting a big enough cut is up for debate) If Joey was really looking at signing a large contract to do numerous fountains, or business was picking up, restructuring this way or finding more welders/contractor's was just going to have to happen. Would anyone expect 1 other person to be able to make all of those? Then ship them off, and then install them? Highly unlikely. IMO

Yes, good points! I had no idea until the trial that MSM was as involved as they were with the fountain business. And Sequeida Jr. and Carmen's testimonies were very eye-opening.

I want to know where the Sequeidas were on Feb 4th-8th :D:D:D:D:D

Makes one wonder if there were other parts of the testimonies by Sgt. Smith which included misleading/misinterpreted/distorted information.
I don't find it misleading at all. Chase had stated he might have went to see his sister. This solidifies that he hadn't been to her home in 5 years, which is central to the ping data. Where is it misleading?

I've just looked it up. The hearing was on Feb 14th. The tapes were handed over to the defense on Feb 13th because there was no court on 11th and 12th.

Thanks so much for this video. I had seen it but didn't study it. People have complained about the snail's pace of this trial. Now, amped up to weeks not months. I like this judge. He is patient but no pushover. He calls the shots. And listens to every little detail. Shot down most of DK.....but not all. And, I have to say , I like all the attorneys, both PAs and DTs. They, IMO, are both doing due diligence. Makes me proud to be an American.

First of all CM is playing poker in the card room which is separate from the casino. The Indian casinos have limited video surveillance in those areas because there’s no casino money to protect as there is on the casino floor. The video they do have of the area is soon purged. I also notice many of you wondering why CM’s phone was disconnected from cell towers for long periods of time, it’s because most all card rooms in the area durning that time jammed cell phone reception in order to prevent cheating at the poker tables.

I disagree with some of the above comments. I am pretty certain that they do surveillance on the poker tables. They check for card counting and other cheating methods, routinely. And if someone has a big win, they will review the tapes before letting someone cash out 500k in chips:

"You can bet on it: if you hit a big jackpot, or get on a major hot streak, security has its eyes on you. “When someone is winning a lot of money, they’re always going to get checked by us,” Derk says. “They’re not going to know it, of course. Say a guy wins $100,000 on a blackjack game. I just want to make sure that it’s legal, that he didn’t cheat, that he didn’t count cards or something like that.”

Derk says in that instance, security will do a player evaluation: They will review his/her play on video for signs of cheating or card counting. Then they’ll check out the player. “We have a database of bad guys that are out there and what kind of scams they pull, so we’re gonna check for that,” Derk says."

Thanks @Mica :) Maline came on at the same time as Mettias, right? Ok wait.... Mettias/Brunner/Terrell must have worked together because they all appeared at the preliminary hearing ... Maline wasn't there.

Why were Ponce and Call "fired"? If you recall? I know Mettias asked to be dismissed when Merritt refused to waive his right to a speedy trial.

The police asked him his whereabouts.

If it was that simple as gambling in one of the casinos there would have been footage of him going to and from, and he would have told them in a nano second.

He didnt say he was at any of the casinos because it never happened.

On the 4th he was busy doing other things, and that's why he is on trial for murdering 4 people.

He has given no one an iron glad alibi because he has none.

So to say he was at the casino is absurd.

I would like to hear from Sequeida Sr. I thought maybe they didn't call him because of health reasons or whatever... after seeing that they called Merritt's sister, that is no longer a valid excuse IMO ;)

Maybe the defense will call him LOL

Ponce was released because he had a lot of documents to review and required a delay to do so. As a result, Chase elected to go pro bono to speed up the process due to his heart condition and for lack of finances to cover costs.

David Call was released when Chase hired Mettias. In May 2015, Merritt retained Mettias and David Askander to represent him. Mettias brought aboard Victorville attorneys Sharon Brunner and Jim Terrell to assist, then Rajan Maline after Terrell left the defense team.

Whenever I loathe about the sound quality and clarity of the McStay trial, I think it is probably the Arias trial that did it. Just think! That was in 2013! There were 5 HD cameras in the front of the courtroom capable of switching between the defense, the prosecution, judge, witness, gallery and I think it was also hooked-up directly to the projector or TV via HDMI for crystal clear exhibits! Not just focusing on the TV. All 1080p and crystal-clear audio too. It's 2019 and how can Law & Crime allow only one speaker to work for 25 days (26?)! Anyone know if the audio was any better since the break? I also noticed, it seems much more HD on the live-stream.
I have been off the grid for many years. This whole L&C channel is new to me. Just wondering? When did this all come about? It seems to be in it's in fancy?

Thank you so much! Didn't need to google haha

Thank you once again for keeping it real.

But he was aware there was a problem, no? CM messed with the QB prior to the disappearance. Was it Feb. 1st or 2nd? I would think Joey would have mentioned his suspicions to PM. JMO The confirmation with the bank might have happened after speaking to PM, but I don’t recall any testimony of fraud by any bank representative. Until there is confirmation, it’s only speculation.

I wish I could recall this better, but I seem to remember that Joey and Patrick usually spoke every Friday. I thought Joey became aware of the discrepancy on the morning of the 4th? So, likely he didn't realize the problem until after he'd spoken with Patrick. However, I'm not 100% clear on this, so any input is appreciated!
