Just watching Day 11 Part 3. Showing evidence photos. Female end of extension cord could be a GREAT source for DNA. A plastic housing like that could preserve trace DNA well whereas everything else was exposed to weather and decomp. Just a thought. Even though it was found outside the grave.

hmmm okay, and yes, I think you have mentioned this before in another post. Probably because I was questioning it LOL

So, from your posts Force Ten, I think you believe that Chase did this. What do you think the motive was? Or maybe I'm wrong and you don't or are not sure?
Yes, lock, stock and barrel. Absolutely guilty. IMO there were several contributing factors that coalesced into a perfect storm. The very heart of it all was Chase's gambling addiction and a lifetime of thievery and cutting corners. Chase saw a window (no pun intended) of opportunity with the QB and what he could skim off. Once Joseph saw the check cleared the bank he called the bank, twice. Then he called Chase.

Between this and the missing check(s) to MSM that Joseph now knew about infuriated him enough to put an end the the relationship, friend-wise and business-wise. Something else to add to the interview with LE, when Chase said his business was "done" he sounded pretty damn confident that he knew it to be the case. I now don't believe Joseph not only met for lunch (or whatever) to severe ties with Merritt, but to confront him and get his money back from the check that Chase cashed.

On the last call with Chase (5:48), Chase's phone either dies or is turned off a minute or less after, yet according to records Joseph's phone is still on the call for 2 more minutes. This means he was talking to dead air. Whatever Joseph said to Chase, this was the defining moment that set the next chain of events in to motion. I'm almost certain that Joseph said Summer's name, and probably more than once. It would send Merritt into a blind rage. It wasn't that Chase was out of a job now. It wasn't that Chase lost out on the opportunity to be dipping into millions of dollars that EIP would be bringing in over the next few years. Chase's rage and murderous motivation was over Summer Mcstay and that Joseph was "P***y whipped". Summer was the catalyst and he was determined on absolutely destroying her, as she, in his mind, destroyed and took away his livelihood. This is evident in the overkill she endured.

I have not a single doubt in my mind of this man's guilt. Aside from what we have seen of the overwhelming evidence, I have personally talked with a multitude of people who have been involved with this man on a close and consistent basis over years and even decades, who say he is absolutely capable of doing this.

Whatever the case of what happened at the meeting, we'll probably never know for sure but I do believe Joseph made it home. In his interview with detectives Chase made a major foul and stated the last time he talked to Joseph, he was at his desk. There is no way I believe that this was in a phone call, as Chase professes. He was standing over him.

I’m freaking out. I’m starting to think they weren’t killed at the house on the 4th. But they were abducted and killed later (5th or 6th) somewhere else (either the storage place or desert).
I don’t know. I thought I was so certain in what I believed and defense hasn’t even really started yet.
Someone pull me back!!

Thanks for answering me :) I thought you believed he was guilty, but every once in awhile you post something that makes me think you didn't think he was guilty lol

So you believe what Dan said about the 30K debt and that he was firing Chase?

RSBM

Funny how the little things in that interview makes us think more.

When he made that comment, and said something like because he said he had the drawings of some sort of electrical stuff on his desk at home, he forgot to bring them earlier that day... even earlier in the interview, he said that sometimes they would meet at his place, or Joey's or even half way ... I started to think that maybe that 5:48 call was saying, hey, I have those drawings... I'll meet you half way, I'm leaving now... and wherever they met is possibly where they were killed? ... I guess it depends on where and what is halfway... But that thought did cross my mind. Would explain them all leaving, just going for a ride with the kids, no need to throw shoes on the kids... not sure how we explain summer or joey with no shoes, except flip flops that would easily fall off in a struggle or with the violent nature of their deaths. Would explain why there is no blood in the house. Doesn't explain why there is none in the vehicles though.

No I don't believe what Dan stated to be factual. Mcgyver stated to several people behind the scenes that he used the sledge hammer to close the lid on the paint. But when on the stand, this was not the case. But I'm happy he was truthful in court. I wonder if we'll have the same from Dan.

I have to question my own beliefs in guilt when confronted with things that don't fit. Eventually they do, they have a way of being explained. Right now I'm conflicted about Summer's sweats. Something's off.

If CM didn't bring the sledge hammer then he hadn't planned out how he was going to kill the family, but did it in a moment of rage? And I assume there was no bleach type stains on the rest of Summer's clothing or it would have been mentioned. Something about the sweatpants didn't set right with CM. If he wasn't there then he would have nothing to argue about.

Thank you! I recalled the same but it’s good recall. Isn’t CM a felon? I know firearms and permits are more difficult to acquire legally in CA and recall previously believing this may well have been the reason a
Sledgehammer was the weapon of choice.

According to the lead Homicide Inv (Fisher) from SBSO, CM had already served 2 prison sentences PRIOR to meeting JM. Prison in Ca is actual prison, not a jail sentence. Some states call jail prison, just to clarify. CM actually was sentenced to prison, so that makes him at least a 2x parolee. Also, if you are convicted of a Felony in Ca, you can't own a gun.

Yep, 7 times in jail and twice in prison, '78 and '87.

Well yes and of course.
Summer figured out Chase. She certainly advised Joey that this was not a man to be in business with.
I think that finally, Joey decided to do something about the many problems with Chase Merritt- and told him that he was fired at the lunch at the Chic-a-Fil.

The one thing I have always found very intriguing about Chase is how deep rooted his animosity and dislike for Summer is.

He absolutely hates and despises her and it’s so ingrained that he can not even pretend in interviews when it would benefit him to pretend to like her.

Wow. I did not know that.
Can the prosecutors bring this up? Anyone know?
California is so frigging politically correct.
Ugggh. My opinion. I live here btw.
It's been debated in court about his priors. Mike made mention of it in his testimony and the defense went crazy. Yet the defense themselves brought it up in OS.

From what I've learned today from the CNN Documentary and the SBSO Press Conference of CM's arrest: SBSO Inv Fisher (he's the lead Inv on this case) stated the state has evidence, that they believe that links CM to the murder scene (home). SBSO served 60 search warrants in this case, not including SDSO warrants. It NOW makes sense to me why Inv DuGal (SDSO) testified that he was investigating a missing persons case vs a homicide case and the home did not APPEAR to be a foul play/crime scene on his original investigation. SDSO did not attempt to process the home as a homicide scene, due to the lack of any visible physical evidence. However, once the bodies were discovered and SBSO took over the case as a KNOWN homicide case, SBSO did in fact serve search warrants on their home (years later) AND processed it as a homicide scene. This was stated by SBSO Inv Fisher. If Inv Fisher states they were killed INSIDE their home and it points to CM, they HAVE to have some evidence collected that makes them believe that, IMO. We are barely into the beginning of this case and I believe we WILL hear what they collected in the home that points to their murder AND CM's involvement. There is just so much speculation, including me, that we will have to wait to see what the Pros Team actually reveals in court. The Prosecution also does NOT want to reveal "their hand" during Opening Statements, IMO.

The SBDA's Office also assisted the homicide team investigating this case. I assume their investigators have ALSO collected evidence in this case.

In terms of the potential for Chase to get a visa for Saudi to go fit the fountain - what are the requirements to be granted a visa by Saudi Arabia? Note: He'd get a passport ok - birth records reveal Texas, May '57.

Would Chase's criminal record make him ineligible for a visa approval by Saudi? I do think that if the situation was reversed, the US would not grant a visa for a Saudi with a criminal record to work in the US.

This would certainly throw a bucket of water on plans - no income for Chase to throw away $ at the casino, plus the inconvenience to Joey's fountain business.

Many of us have questioned that very thing. It seems so unlikely that the Saudis, of all people, would look upon him favorably. And why him, in particular? We all wanted to see the stamp in his passport. But, my understanding is that there's a paper trail that shows that he did indeed go there. Does anyone know differently?

After the lunchtime meeting with Chase, and before anything unfolded at the house, if my memory serves me well, Joey used his credit card for gas or something similar. I would therefore expect Joey was on his 'pat malone' by this stage. Or was this credit card usage, potentially also a fraud?
My understanding is that he did take gas on his way home.
