I have a feeling when San Diego took the computers they weren't thinking that a killer had used them. Those computers were probably directly touched by quite a few investigators.

And a lot of people had been in the house and had probably tried to log in and see what the family was up to, in order to find them. That's the first thing I'd do if my son and his family were suddenly MIA. And later I'd probably kick myself thinking I messed up.

Being open minded means I can hear both arguments..... I have so far, and will continue. I don't know which is more likely, and I didn't get to hear all of the testimony this morning, so don't really have an opinion yet.....

Both the Pros and DT argued both points earlier: Jones (paraphrasing here) "there is no evidence CM shook hands with JM, or that CM was the driver of the Trooper." He found what he found (DNA). That is what I understood from the little video snippets I was able to watch.

I think the Jury will come to a conclusion, one way or the other. Just another "brick" in the wall, IMO.

Were I a juror and heard him say you can't find anything after people have been buried for 3 1/2 years, that would do it for me. And, the fact that CM's DNA is in the Trooper in a higher concentration than SM's would do it for me. Now, the defense has said they found DNA in one of the graves. Waiting to see what they've got. And, I liked Jones. Thought he was well spoken and confident.

I made a mistake. It wasn't the Nikki Hidrich case that Don Jones worked on it was this case People v Yablonsky:

"DNA analysis of the sperm cells was performed in 1999. San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriff’s criminalist Donald Jones testified based on his analysis of the DNA results that the sperm cells were from a single donor. Jones compared the DNA from the sperm cells to other DNA obtained from 16 blood samples apparently taken from the crime scene, and also obtained from known donors. Those comparisons did not produce a match.

In January 2003, another criminalist employed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted a more sophisticated analysis of the sperm and semen contained in the vaginal swab from Rita Cobb. This second analysis produced a complete DNA profile of 13 markers which then was entered into a nationwide database, CODIS DNA. Some years later,2 the criminalist was notified that the sample she had entered matched defendant."

So Jones's work from 1999 had to be redone. What year was he doing work on this case? 11 years later? I imagine he was more experienced by then.

Oh, that is because Joey told Chase to sign them himself, and backdate and delete them. He told Chase that right before he and his family vanished.

So 15 years later---not sure we can call him out for someone redoing his initial work, from when he was new on the job. I imagine he learned a lot in the ensuing 15 years.

It does look like the 2nd Feb cheque the amount isn't properly lined up in the printer in the amount box. It's printed over the $ sign.
