I'm sorry there is still no sign of John. I can't imagine how his poor wife feels. :(

On another topic, this is a little OT, but interesting. I thought I'd post it ahead of Obama's SCOTUS nomination. Paul Watford is in the running, perhaps in the top three. He is a judge on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. The video posted earlier in the thread of John's attorney arguing his appeal on 2/9/15 shows Watford asking very astute questions. When his photo showed up in recent articles, I thought he looked familiar. The court denied the appeal and it was filed 3/3/16.

Thnx so much Lilibet for this post! Very interesting. Good eye!
Just amazing how the world works.

It seemed like a very "small world" moment to me. Merrick Garland turns out to be the nominee, but it had to a huge honor for Paul Watford to be considered.

I have missed a few days of checking this thread. Where is JB?

Still no news from JoyM?

I check the blog, FB and Google every day. Nothing. No Joy either. I feel for them all. You never expect it to go this long. :( I hope they get answers.

I still wonder why we haven't heard anything from Joy in so long? I know she's not obligated to update us. I just really hope she is alright.

I think Joy mentioned that layoffs were happening at her work, so I wonder if she's had to deal with job hunting. That would be all consuming, I'm sure. I miss her presence and hope she's all right too.

My thoughts as well, Xara. Joy was so good about updates. This silence is worrisome.

Such a troubling case all the way around. I really hope and pray that this is resolved.

Hello... I've been following this case with great interest and just noticed on the news that the body of an unknown man was recovered in the Bay Point canals yesterday:

It sounds as though it was not a homicide, and that the body may have been in the water for quite some time based on the physical decay of his hands and skin. Do you think there's any chance it could be Mr. Beck? I know he was last seen in the San Francisco area, but I was wondering if it's even remotely possible that the currents might have swept him all the way to the East Bay inlets? It seems like a long shot, but I would love to hear your thoughts.

Welcome Sleeperlabs :) Thank you for the links! Definitely interesting. Would be hard to say if it could be John. Hope it's not him. So sad for whoever it is though.......

Welcome and thanks so much for your post, sleeperlabs. :seeya: We would have missed this if you hadn't seen it. I don't know about currents but I do remember that one of the searches on John's computer was Martinez, which isn't terribly far from Bay Point. BART actually goes to Bay Point/Pittsburgh from the same 12th St station in Oakland where John started that morning. Could he have retraced his steps to go there? Let's all keep an eye on this story!

I thought it was strange that one of the stories commented that no one had been reported missing in Contra Costa county recently. Hmmmm...maybe they need to check other counties and think outside the box like you did, sleeperlabs. Good sleuthing! And while I hope it isn't John, it's someone's loved one and I hope this person can be identified.

Thanks! Your post motivated me to send an email with links to the FB and blog about John.

The Contra Costa Canal is man made, and the way it is configured it would be unlikely for a body to arrive in the canal because of currents, but someone could certainly fall in or enter on purpose. It's hard to tell how deep it is, but it seems deep enough to drown in. There is a trail that follows much of the canal, but the part where the body was found is not accessible to the public.

Gosh, that's very narrow indeed. Interested to see what's happened there.

Still so sad about Mr Beck. I wish for a resolution soon, for the sake of his ones.

In the meantime, authorities are working to determine the man's identity, but there has been a hang up: his hands have deteriorated so badly that it has proved difficult for doctors to lift good fingerprints from him.

So how long would someone have to be deceased/in water for their hands to deteriorate to this point?

Wish they'd release a description of the man....
