While I still believe the cause is an accident, it seems everything is still on the table. We're seeing LE checking the nearest registered sex offenders, so they seem to be covering every angle.

As to the accident, I can see from the 10-11 minute clip of the terrain that a car will be easy to spot in MOST places, although there are some areas off 89 where someone might have gone off and can't be seen. I have two cases of falling asleep while driving so I know the car can go quite a distance. One was my experience - at 25 mph I went thru a chainlink fence and kept going till a large oak tree stopped me. The other was some military members who went off the road outside Vegas - they managed to get a lift into Vegas but had difficulty finding the vehicle the next day because of the car's distance from the road. And if it was foggy that night coupled with alcohol could Kiely have taken the wrong road by accident? If so, could she be off another road that isn't part of the logical path home?

As far as something more nefarious, the car being burned is not out of the question but I would have thought that would have been noticed by now. If it was in this immediate area. The water is one place to hide it. Other than that, behind a vacation home out of sight of the road. As mentioned before by @SteveP hidden in plain sight in a public parking lot. That can be in Reno, Vegas or any other city nearby. If it is parked in lot where there is a 24 hour retail store it would be less obvious. And if the plates were switched it could very well be there a while.

ADMIN NOTE:

Please stop the ongoing speculation about creme brulee. The only known fact is they supposedly made it that afternoon. There is nothing to substantiate that it was drug related.

Surely it's none of the college's business?
What happens in a students private life shouldn't affect their academic life.

As long as there is no major criminal behaviour, refusing to give a statement is fine. If they don't want to and are not legally obligated to do so, it is a valid choice.

When it comes to "character," it does not need to be criminal for a college to withdraw a letter of acceptance.

Without sidetracking this too much, college letters of acceptance for Blair Hornstine (2004) and Mimi Groves (2020) were withdrawn after 'character' issues received wide exposure in the press. Hornstine for plagiarism, Groves for a video clip.

The concern is not entirely unfounded, but since someone is still missing, I would hope they would still call in any tips, anonymously if necessary.

BeReal is not like Snapchat or other apps. You have no control over when to post a BeReal pic. At random times of day you get a notification from the BeReal app and you have 2 minutes to snap a pic with your phone and post it. Once that 2 minutes is up, that's it. You cannot delay or post it later. The whole point is that there are no filters or time to edit or stage pics - thus "Be Real".

No one has said that a BeReal notification randomly went out during the party. I think one person mentioned they hoped it would.

If you regret the BeReal you posted, you may delete it but it doesn't delete itself like Snapchat does. And if you do delete your latest BeReal you cannot delete the next one. And so on.

I've been told you can delay, though it will notify all your friends and will be marked as delayed (mark of shame in social etiquette, I guess).
I was just reading up on it and everyone in the same geographical area will get their notification at the same time. Though as you mention, the time of day is spontaneous, so you can't plan for tomorrow. This would mean that everyone in their area would've been prompted at the same time of day, so a bunch of users may have all planned to delay until the party. MOO

I'm late joining this thread and impossible to catch up so sorry if this was mentioned already!

I'm really hoping this turns out to be an accident however one thing that I find just too coincidental is the time factor. She texts her mom she'd home in 45 mins and at that (almost) exact point (within the 45 min/hour) the phone dies. What are the odds? So this is the timeframe something happened but could go either way:

1. She did indeed leave to get home in time and if a car accident, water would have to be involved to render the phone dead in that timeframe. An offroad accident wouldn't kill the phone.
2. She did go to leave but IF with someone else (friends, older adult, etc.) who didn't want her to, they shut off the phone as that was their 'window of time to get her' before she leaves to go home.

I wonder the ability to look into the phone status at the last check in. Perhaps within the system there is an ability to see some of the phone status. Cold it be possible that along with the location the phone would logged battery percentage? Mable not seen on the find my phone app but within the packet of info sent to the system? Just speculation on a feature on my part, but i would like to have more info about the phone and I hope LE does!!

I would think that the only reason anyone should worry about having college scholarships revoked is if they are named as a suspect or person of interest in this case. Unless named in the press, I don't expect a list of invitations to the party and RSVP's from attendees exists anywhere, so there should be no reason for anyone not involved in her disappearance to fear talking to LE about anything they may know. JMO

MOO As we go into two weeks since KR disappeared and the case is seemingly at a standstill, due in part IMO to the reluctance of attendees to come forward, my vengeful side is wishing LE would go a step more assertive.

Wishful thinking I'm afraid, but I'd like to see LE start posting whatever pics and videos they have - they're fair game if they come from sm - and ask if anyone recognizes themselves or others to please come in and talk as potential witnesses. IMO there's a fine line between protecting one's college applications and obstructing an investigation and the line appears to be getting thinner.

Maybe AWP will find something or one brave person will come forward with the piece of information that busts the case wide open. All MOO and not holding my breath...
Good article btw.

Two weeks after the suspicious disappearance and possible abduction of California 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, the investigation led to the arrest of a local sex offender on unrelated charges, police say.

"The operation, which occurred on Thursday, Aug. 18, resulted in several sex registrants being found in violation of their terms, with one arrest being made and criminal charges to be filed on another," the Placer County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday morning.

Those videos show an awful lot of steep hills, sharp ledges and dropoffs, small rocky bluffs surrounded by brush, and other places where a person could fall and be hard to find.

That wouldn't explain the car, though.
Yes though on that road (HWY 89) at least, in many cases, there are houses or even a park like area just beyond where you see a "dropoff." I think the areas all along the expected routes home have been exhaustively searched. Plus we are in peak hiking season so there are lots of people out on trails as well.

If she used an app like Life360 it tells parents or whoever she's linked to her battery percentage. Not sure she used this though, can't find a source/article to find out.

Again sorry if already discussed... I always think LE know (or have a semi-suspect or idea of what happened) and suspect foul play more when a reward is offered. It seems reward offers only come in certain cases where people and info are required, especially to get someone to talk and get info via association. MOO

There is a reason no one is talking. First, I don't believe there were in excess of 200 people at this party. The amount of cars alone would have been staggering. There are approx 800 or less parking spaces at a typical Wal-Mart. Imagine what 100 cars looks like parked. Regardless, we only have on picture for reference and a little over a dozen kids. I would imagine there were more, but no where near the amount told by SS. Also, you have to consider from a young persons perspective. I'm not implying that SS did anything to her, but is not being totally honest. Had there been even a hundred plus people, someone would have spilled by now. 50 even. There is no group of teens and young adults, so tight, that they would all cover and with that many people, someone knows what happened or where she is at, or at the very least who she left with. The mafia would have a hard time keeping 50 peoples mouths shut. From the beginning, I have assumed that the party was much smaller, and by the midnight hour, was smaller still. Someone will speak up for lack of wanting to go down for someone else. With a much smaller crowd, it is also more likely that more than a couple of people were aware of her presence and what she was doing around midnight/30. Even people who witnessed something that should not have been happening may be keeping tight lipped because of what even an idiot perceives as culpability. My thought, keeps going to more testosterone than estrogen in the group, mixed with adrenaline (fighting), and the pure stupidity of young men when in a group, most likely led to a very bad situation for a child who was far too young to be left in those surroundings.
I have also wondered about the amount of people and the locations they came from. I do believe they could maybe get local teens/ppl to keep closed lips and delete social media posts, but SS said people were there from Folsom, Sac, SF & Reno, and were unknown people. While news probably spread FAST in Truckee, it would have taken other cities longer to have heard about the situation and some who have nothing to hide wouldn't be deleting their posts and with no emotional or social connection to the girl most likely wouldn't have even thought twice about leaving the SM posts up, yet nothing can be found. UNLESS every person that was there was really tight knit with the community or someone there.

The reward is from her family and friends. Not LE.
