I'm coming to my WS family for help. My friend is the unnamed victim in this story. He was a gentle, peaceful man. We are beyond devastated.

I am looking for help from more experienced sleuths. Where do I go to research whether this animal they just arrested has a previous record? What is the best method for tracking hearing dates, other court appearances, trial dates? I want to be front and center. TIA.

Oh Jaime! I'm just reading this and wanted to let you know how very sorry I am for the loss of your friend. I'm going to go ahead and read through the thread now but wanted you to know your friend and his family are in my prayers. :rose:

There is new information, but it is too infuriating for me to discuss. This is now international news and Kris has been identified publicly. I do appreciate your support from the bottom of my heart.

Jaime, I'm so very sorry to hear about your friend Kris. It's so sad to lose a friend, and especially a good friend in this manner. Kris looks like a big teddy bear of a man whom I'm sure you have wonderful memories of.

Rest in Peace, Kris
:rose:

Krah's attorney is grasping at straws. If the police felt there was anything damaging in the photos, an arrest would have been made on the spot at the pier. Krah's attorney is saying Krah "remained at the pier for a short time and drove back to his home in San Diego; anybody could have done this."

Weren't there witnesses who could place Krah at or near the scene of the murder? And since the crime happened near a bank and parking garage there should be surveillance cameras in that area that need to be checked.

Witnesses said the stabbing happened near a parking structure and a bank.

At the end of the video at this link the reporter says, "And police say there were a number of witnesses and they were used to track Krah down. He was arrested in San Diego County."

There are cameras EVERYWHERE. 5th and Santa Monica is a busy intersection and Santa Monica is PACKED with people on Saturdays.

Decorated Navy Seal Kills Man After Bar Fight on Santa Monica Pier

It is a tale as old as men in tall ships sailing the sea. Shore leave, bar fight, murder, and flight from police. A decorated Navy SEAL beat and stabbed a man Sunday after a bar fight on the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica police said Tuesday.

Theo Andrew Krah, 28, was arrested in San Diego on Monday. He fled back to the Naval base where he lived, two days after he and the other man had to be separated at the Santa Monica Pier by the SMPD. They then proceeded to meet each other nearby and continue the fight, this time to the death.

The murder happened at a parking garage less than half a mile from the Santa Monica Pier. The two men did not know each other prior to meeting on the Pier.

I don't understand what they're talking about. What a poorly written article. First, Kris didn't drive. He took the bus to/from work every day. He was going to a concert on the Pier -- there are frequently shows there, both on the Pier and in the concert hall. His girlfriend was supposed to go with him, but decided not to, so he went by himself. Had she gone, she would have driven both of them there and back.

Second, the article isn't clear. What bar? On the Pier? On 5th? There is a Mexican restaurant at the very end of the Pier and there is the music hall (which serves alcohol) and one or two other places, including a Bubba Gump restaurant, but the Pier isn't full of bars. It's a family destination on Saturday afternoons, which is when this was.

If Kris was at a parking garage on 5th, it's because he was walking past it or cutting through it. The cameras will tell the story. This individual tracked him by foot or car, in my opinion. It's what he was trained to do.

From MapQuest.com ... shows one of the routes that Kris could have taken to the murder location (1300 block of 5th, near intersection of 5th and Santa Monica Boulevard) from the Pier. Would have taken 19 minutes or so without stops. This route would have been packed with people (and security cameras) on Ocean as well as near the 3rd Street Promenade, which is a famous pedestrian mall. Somebody saw something.
