Originally this case was posted by Ada Wong as a possible match to a UID. That match was ruled out as can be seen here.

We closed that thread and am started separate threads on each case, the Missing and the UID (you can find UID case here now)

Grimm phoned her mother periodically during the following 18 months. She claimed that she was in Wichita, Kansas and was doing well. Grimm refused to divulge her address and her mother said that her daughter sounded afraid during the conversations. Grimm called her mother for the final time during October 1987 from an unknown location. She has never been heard from again.
Grimm may have resided in Wichita with Robert Masters, who was employed as a truck driver at the time. Foul play is suspected in her case.

Here are higher quality versions of pictures 3-5 on the Doe Network. I figure they may help someone while doing comparisons.

Bumping for Linda. It's been 8 years since the last post on this thread.

I was reading up on this case and I think she never left Perris, that she was kidnapped and held, and that she was forced to make calls that placed her far away, and that the fictional owner of the Hawaiian estate in Magnum PI was posing as an equally fictional trucker… I was thinking that this kidnapper lacked imagination and watched too much TV…
But, near the end of the article, it seemed like there might be evidence of an actual trip with a real person, beyond what was said in the phone calls. Did I misread that part? Because I’m not ready to believe that…
I don’t think she left the Perris-Huntington Beach area, and her kidnapper had some sort of identifiable link to her; if the police investigated, they might knock on the kidnapper’s door. Hence the travel ruse...
in this scenario, the kidnapper probably had a garage to stash the car in during the years he was missing...then when the victim was probably long dead and the assailant was perhaps preparing to move out of his home, the kidnapper abandoned the car...interestingly, in September a body was pulled from a lake in Hillsdale, Kansas (and a car was later recovered)...it was a 64 year old man named Robert Masters. Linda Grimm would be 57 now if she were alive...
she was said to live in rural Hillsdale (which is just over two hours from Wichita)...
it would be nice to know a little more about the Robert Masters in question...I guess there are possibilities, he lived in the country, farms are rural. He would have been seven years older than Linda Grimm. But what did he do? Was he driving a truck?..
It might be worth passing information about Linda Grimm (and the story surrounding her disappearance) on to the authorities in Hillsdale or the county involved and perhaps do some cursory inquiries to see if there might have been any possible connection...
either way
may she rest in peace
