Police reported the firearm used to kill Tristan Beaudette has NOT been found. Also, that the killing is being investigated as a homicide at this point. Will be interesting to read the autopsy report when that becomes available. Also, Malibu Creek is closed until further notice. Police are still reporting that the shot appears to be done from INSIDE the tent.

Also, Allergan has a medical device office in SF Bay Area- Pleasanton.

The fact that LE is still reporting that the shot appears to be done from INSIDE the tent rules out target practice, stray bullets, accidental shooting. If they haven't found the weapon well then it can't be a suicide. So that narrows it down to targeted, a hit or random act of violence. IMO

Hi, guys. Don't you think if it was a random shooter, and he killed the man by accident, or a random shot that hit him, the shooter would have the nerve to go back again and be shooting, yet once again, and so soon? He has to know they are totally checking out the campground. I hope that question made sense, I had a hard time framing it correctly. Thanks, everyone. Katt

Even if it was a deliberate shot, it seems kind of weird that he'd be shooting at people again so soon.

Credible evidence is coming forth from the public … about other shootings in Malibu Canyon.

A Malibu man says his car was shot … and the front of it by a bullet … as he drove through the canyon last Monday morning.

And a Simi Valley woman says she was camping in the park … sleeping in the back cargo deck of her car on a rainy January night.

"Meliss Tatangelo says they were awakened by a large thump …. but went back to sleep.

Later that morning … they discovered a bullet hole in the back door … and a large bullet rolling around inside the cargo area.

It had been fired at close range into the car with two people in it. "

WOW
Ok this keeps getting worse and worse. And the more I learn about these the more I think there is some connection in at least some if not all of them.

We listed 4 shootings earlier that we collected from all the prior articles and now from this updated article there now appears to be a 5th shooting on June 6, 2018. We had not seen anything about that one yet that I know of.

If a June 6, 2018 shooting happened then that is the 5th different one. The 5 shootings are the one Monday, the tent killing on Friday and the 3 ones mentioned below in the article.

And not only that. We now know the Monday shooting the guy was driving his car while being shot at so he could have been killed too. So in at least 4 out of 5 shootings the people could have been killed according to their own statements (one was killed). Maybe even all 5 when we find out more about this June 6th shooting.

This is crazy.

"Nicole Nishida, a sheriff’s department spokeswoman, said the three other shootings “occurred nearby within the sheriff’s jurisdiction.” Nishida said the shootings happened June 6, 2017; July 22, 2017; and June 6, 2018."

Maybe this shooter's goal all along was to kill but his strategy wasn't working so it escalated to an up close and personal random killing?

Police are still reporting that the shot appears to be done from INSIDE the tent.

Again, would bet some money it was someone at the campground who was ticked off at him for something that happened earlier in the evening-- loud kids or he yelled at them for something or whatever. IMO this proves definitely not random

Correction. According to CBS, TB's brother, Dylan, reported "there were two holes in his tent, one in the top and one in the side, but police have not confirmed whether those were bullet holes." Would like to edit the post above, but not sure how to.

TB's brother, Dylan, also a scientist:
"Slain scientist Tristan Beaudette's brother is opening up about why he thinks his older sibling was murdered while sleeping next to his young daughters on a camping trip in a California park. “Based on my conversation with my brother-in-law, who was there, who found him, and who was awake shortly after the gunshots went off, there were no sounds nearby,” Dylan Beaudette, 37, told RadarOnline.com...“There were shots in the distance, a bullet went through the top in the tent, and a bullet went into [Tristan]. And that means that someone was firing horizontal from nearby. ” Words of DB. Murdered Scientist Tristan Beaudette’s Brother Offers Theory On Tragic Shooting

Also, the media video shows one set of shoes outside TB tent. I wonder if there were 3 sets (to include the shoes of TB's kids). If not, and if the shoes are TB's, a passerby may only thnk one person was in the tent????

Malibu State Park campground closed until further notice but all of the hiking trails remain open. Hopefully, any hiker is made aware of bullets being fired.

That could be.

The fact there were so many similarities in some of these shootings indicates at least some of these could be tied to the same shooter. Early morning hours, same general area, a shotgun used in at least two of the shootings which is kind of unusual in itself, etc.

For the tent killing I am not yet convinced it was not a shotgun there either. Wish there was more details provided from LE but for now we will have to rely on gathering all the information from all the different articles.

The article below has pictures of the shotgun slug that was found in the back of the MT lady's car that was sleeping/camping in their car in Jan 2017. Its interesting to see that it was a shotgun slug she found in back of the car after it penetrated into the car. You can tell from the video of the hole damage and from the size of the slug. WOW

He was shot in a tent with his daughters. It's not the first shooting in the Calif. park, cops say

So if that's true we are back to possible target practice. Maybe someone who goes and practices shooting illegally before going to work. It seems all these shootings are around the same time of day, early in the morning. Have they all been on a weekday?

For those that dont know shotguns can shoot either a single large slug like the one I just mentioned in the Jan 2017 shooting or more typically shotgun shells are loaded with multiple small BBs. The size of the BBs can vary depending on what kind of shotgun shell you buy. They are called like 6-shot, 7-shot, 8-shot. The higher the number on the "shot" the smaller the BB. But you can also buy shotgun shells loaded with a single large lead slug. And that is what we are looking at that hit the MT lady's car in the link back in Jan 2017.

The article quotes MT's Facebook, where she posted a video of the hole in her car. Is the other picture supposed to be the bullet that was found? I've never seen anything like that from a shotgun, but then I don't have a whole lot of experience with them. Can anybody who knows more about it enlighten us?

eta: oops, I see that while I was typing my question, you did enlighten us :D Thanks!

Not directed at you, Creepcrusher, but you’ve got me wondering about park entry.
Can someone just drive into the park in the wee hours of the morning or is there a booth? If the latter, does one register (show ID, provide license plate number) or just pay a fee? If registration is required, I would think this was someone posing as a camper (arriving the afternoon/evening prior) or someone who snuck in.

I thought I read earlier that a campsite must be reserved. Presumably only the driver or reservation holder might be asked for ID but not occupants of the vehicle, right?

Yes that other picture is from a single large lead SLUG fired from a shotgun. The reason I know this is I have a shotgun and have fired slugs like that before in it. Those types of shells are typically used for deer hunting or other large game.

Some shotguns also have gun sight Scopes on them which can allow them to be more accurate at a distance. Shotguns are not known for their accuracy but with a scope on it they can be pretty accurate.

His Brother said there were 2 holes in the tent. It's possible there was a shot fired in the distance and it woke Tristan up. Maybe he sat straight up because he was startled and the 2nd shot hit him in the chest. Being that BIL said the shots sounded like they were coming from far away I'm going to guess it was someone shooting their gun off for fun or a random act by a killer but I don't think he was specifically targeted.

I'm not sure how it works there. I've seen some campgrounds where you have to pay/show id to camp, but late at night people can still drive in and out of there without someone guarding the entrance.

Campsites are reserved and some campsites allow day visitors to have passes so they can park in the campgrounds. Campers and visitors need to give car info when they check in. I do not know how CA campgrounds operate but here in OR this is how we roll. Our campgrounds are monitored by the park hosts 24/7 and during the daytime the state park workers are in control.
