She fought back tears, held her head in her hands and wiped her eyes multiple times as prosecuting attorney Donna Daily asked questions about February 26, 2013, the day Nichols went missing.

[...]

Whitmire explained it was abnormal that Nichols did not return home or call that afternoon. She said, "Marysa never wanted to make us worry."

[..]

The third and fourth witnesses called to the stand were Nichols' high school classmates. They were on a walk with their PE class that Tuesday and saw Nichols walking down by a creek behind Red Bluff High School.

much of the testimony centered around cigarette smoking during that day's testimony. The defense's theory on how Bealer's DNA came to be on the yellow tank top that Marysa was strangled with came from transfer and not through direct contact. Bealer claims Marysa bummed a cigarette from him.

I'm sure that a cute 14 year old girl would not bum a cigarette from some ugly old guy, let alone smoke on the same one that touched his nasty lips.

A number of experts took the stand Tuesday in the Quentin Bealer murder trial, including a forensic entomologist and sexual assault nurse examiner.

Bealer is accused of killing Marysa Nichols, 14, of Red Bluff, in February 2013. Her body was found behind Red Bluff High School two days after she was reported missing.

Doctor Bob Kimsey, a forensic entomologist, was brought into this case to help determine how long Nichols had been dead when she was found based on how long bugs had been developing in her body.

The prosecution called Rebecca Gaxiola, a criminalist with the Department of Justice, to the stand.

In possibly one of the most critical testimonies yet in the trial, Nichols' killer strangled her by tying her tank top in a knot around her neck.

Gaxiola testified that skin cell DNA found on that knot matches Bealer's.

She also reported finding a mixture of only Nichols' and Bealer's DNA on the tank top

Gaxiola described the yellow tank top found wrapped around Nichols’ neck. The tank top had to be cut up and taken apart for DNA testing, but Gaxiola taped it back together for the purposes of the trial.

The jury was shown Defense Exhibit 10, the reassembled tank top along with samples taken from the tank top. Photos of the tank top wrapped and knotted around Nichols’ neck were shown to the jury.

Gaxiola said when she untied the tank top a clump of Nichols’ hair was found.

Deputy District Attorney Donna Daly asked Gaxiola if she would expect DNA to be on the yellow tank top if someone had tied the knot to strangle Nichols.

“Yes, if the person wasn’t wearing gloves I would expect there to be DNA from the person who tied the knot,” Gaxiola answered.

There was tense and tearful testimony from the father of Marysa Nichols in the Quentin Bealer murder trial on Tuesday...

Later in the afternoon, the jury was shown video recordings of an interview investigators conducted with Bealer on March 2, 2013, just days after Marysa's body was found...

Debbie Bealer, Quentin Bealer's mother, was expected to take the stand after calling out sick on Monday. The judge read a stipulation, or agreement, between counsel of her testimony.

She will no longer take the stand for the prosecution.

It should be an interesting verdict. From caligma's links, Bealer took the stand for 2 days in his defense. Also the denfese called Marysa's grandmother Lucy Sousa.

"Sousa told the court Marysa's mother had said the teen came home from school before going missing.

This contradicts the prosecution's argument that Bealer killed Marysa near Red Bluff High School before the teen made it home."

This is one the most ridiculous trials ever...members of her own family don't think he did it...when the trial is done, apparently they have the wrong person, a lot more information should be coming out...it's going to the jury tomorrow...hoping for a not guilty so maybe the right person can be charged...the reporter posted so far, krcr tv will update their website in a bit which i'll post later...
