Asked if it was known how long Marysa had been dead, Nanfito said that when she was located "she was very obviously deceased.

Askedif parents should be concerned, Nanfito said that any parent should be guarded when it comes to their child, however, there was not any reason to raise or lower their guard at this time.

Nanfito said the investigation is in its early stages and was not willing to say whether the crime may be connected to reports of a white van parked near schools in the area over the last six months or an attempted abduction of a 15-year-old girl near Metteer School within the last two weeks.

basically, the rumors were that she was found in or near the creek (accurate, info release by LE later),

that her cloths were found not far away,

that she had an older man BF and

I read some stuff on twitter which suggested she was tortured (posted by very dramatic teenage girl who share Marysa's love of the band New Direction so take it with more than a grain of salt)

ALL of that except for her body being found near the creek should be considered rumor til it proves to be more than that.

Wow, I hope the rumors on twitter aren't true. How awful. But all the tweets from the "directioners" (fans of One Direction) paying her respect and sending prayers to her family are very sweet. Rest in peace, beautiful baby girl.
 
If true, it really disturbs me that she had an "older man" bf. She was 14!!!:banghead:
 
I wish we knew f she had a cell phone, if t was on her or found with her?

I have seen nothing aside from that one post on social network by someone claiming to know her that speaks of a bf and he s termed an "older man"

I am left to wonder, was there a boyfriend? Is he an older boy or man?

Was the creek an assignation place?

wish we had more information about Marysa in general and her normal routine.

Very sad, she seemed very bubbly from her photos and was well thought of by many peers it looks like.

I was wondering the same. How old was this alleged boyfriend? Because "older" could be 16ish and not necessarily an older "man". I looked at her twitter account (she hadn't updated it in months) and I didn't see anything about a cell phone (I know, I'm grasping at straws for information) but that doesn't tell me much. I'm wondering if she knew her killer or not.
 
This RIP Marysa page has a video from last nights vigil...warning--it is heartbreaking seeing her friends. There is also a comment about a car wash fundraiser for Marysa's family tomorrow at the Red Bluff Home Depot from 12-3pm.

The press conference will not be live stream, or at least I can't find anywhere that is, but Red Bluff Daily News will put it on youtube after it is over.
 
BREAKING: Red Bluff police have surveillance video of a "person of interest" in the Marysa Nichols homicide case. Police provided a brief description: White male, 30's, stocky short build, red shorts, tattoo on ankle. Tracey Leong is at the press conference right now. Full details tonight at 11.

Not sure if this was a sexually motivated crime or if Marysa knew her killer but I was looking at RSO's in the area of the school. http://www.familywatchdog.us/ShowList.asp

I haven't seen the video of the person of interest but the description released on twitter.....

the man is described as in his 30s 5'10" stocky, red goatee, red shorts of sweat cutoffs with colorful tattoo on lower left ankle

he may just be a witness, but the department wants to know what he knows since he was within a minute of the same area as Nichols was in
