Your emojis make me lol. Only freight trains would run through there. I’m totally just theorizing an area here...Maybe someone else has a better possibility? I do think the search is too focused on hiking trails IMO

Amtrak passenger trains run right along the coast down there. My husband took it from Oregon to see his family (he loves trains). Even if just freight trains run on this track, I’m not sure this lagoon is too likely anyway. It seems kind of far afield to me.

Is everyone just taking LM’s word for it that he went to Solana Beach with the little boy? What if he went to a closer beach? Would the little one know the difference? Somewhere along the way would be a lot more convenient for what we are thinking IMO.

Hi @Lilibet. You must be just catching up on this case. No, we aren't just believing that the husband went to Solana Beach, but he did supposedly tell LE that. (see news article below) Hopefully, they checked out his story. We, here, are just trying to figure out where he might have gone the day after the argument with his wife who is now missing. All kinds of locations have been mentioned here, not just beach areas. LM mentioned a whole bunch of hiking spots in his interview. Her family and searchers have searched for her for two months now, even at Glamis, but Maya has not been found yet.

:( Just realized it's two months today.

"Officers also impounded a black Lexus SUV, which the husband was believed to be driving on Friday, January 8, the day after Millete was last seen, according to family members. The SUV had a personalized license plate, MAYLANI."

"Larry Millete told officers he drove his four-year-old son to the beach in the Lexus on that Friday, according to family members, who also said they tried unsuccessfully that day to reach the husband on his cell phone."

“They left at 6:30 a.m. in the morning to go to Solana Beach and they didn't come back until about 5 p.m. in the afternoon,” Drouaillet said."

There's a March for May on Sunday March 7th at 3 p.m.

Hi @Curious Me! Yes, I’ve been casually and occasionally, but not deeply reading the thread, so I’m admittedly not up to speed, :) but I am aware that various areas have been searched. I wasn’t so much wondering if “everyone” on the thread believed LM, but the lagoon idea in connection with going to Solana Beach seemed to go in that direction and that made me wonder what the consensus here was. It all seems like searching for a needle in a haystack. The San Diego area is so vast!

When we had our fifth wheel we would park for several months each year at Santee Lakes RV Resort while we visited San Diego family. Santee is only about 20 minutes from Chula Vista. I think a location fairly close is likely. I also wonder if places MM frequented would be chosen. I kind of doubt it but that’s JMO.

If there was any familiarity with the Santee area, there might be some possibilities in the hills beyond the residential areas (there are dirt roads the SUV could probably handle), but not as a random choice. Then hop on the 52 to the 5 up to Solana Beach IF that was the real destination. But again, there would have to be a reason to search in the Santee area.

It’s all so very sad. :(

Hi Lilibet! Both you and I have mentioned 52, and I agree it looks like a good possibility for part of the Perp's route. I had speculated remains might have been dumped just off 52 in one of the more gulch/ravine areas parallel to Mission Trails area. You make a very good point about the type of vehicle used; some of these roads would be risky for anything other than a 4WD. As such, if the Perp were driving a sedan (let's say), off road would be unlikely. I still think a very quick dump and dash is what happened. As far as the husband is concerned, I remain open minded and am waiting on more information from LE. We've been on enough threads to know that anything is possible, and we can sometimes be very surprised by the eventual outcome.

Let us hope that May will be found soon, and the family can get some closure.

Just my thoughts/opinions, he probably did go to some beach with son early in the morning just for optics for the cameras, and anything or anyone that needed to be moved would be thursday night. I do remember there are alot of annoying toll highways around there, so assumptions would be traffic cams all along the highways. Thats if he even took them. Probably stopped by the a carwash do get some detailing done. Probably didnt take all the kids because it would throw all sorts of red flags.. "how come mom aint coming". BUT could also be true it was a school day, and they had distant learning that day.

all MOO

Nothing new, but a good recap:

This Cali Mom Vanished 2 Months Ago. Her Husband Has Stopped Cooperating.

Amateur opinion and speculation
Well, LM did actually respond with a text. That's something.
He's comfortable with using the my kids wording. We all might be "misconstruing" the things he said about Maya in his interview? Poor guy. o_O He doesn't mention her at all in this text. Two months today... don't tell me those kids forgot their mother just because they're busy.

"Larry Millete, who has never been named a suspect in the disappearance of his wife, said in a text message to The Daily Beast that the ordeal “has been difficult for everyone.”

“My kids and I are coping as best as we can,” he wrote. “I keep them busy, which in turn keeps me busy.”

"However, he declined to say why he’d stopped cooperating with police. “Everything I say or do seems to be misconstrued or conveyed differently,” he wrote, adding that some media coverage had “manipulated the public’s opinion.”

My response to LM (although I don't know him personally):
LM, this isn't about YOU. This is about your wife of 2o+ years who is missing. Stop whining about yourself and start being useful in the search for your wife. Grow some! (Rude, I know.)

Amateur opinion and speculation

The news article seems to be saying, perhaps in error, that LM went to work (that Friday?) when he told LE he went to the beach. Maricris set it straight though saying they both took off from work to prepare for trip to Big Bear.

"He said he believed his wife may have left for some alone time the next day, when he was at work, before returning to their bedroom. Drouaillet, however, said the couple both took Friday off work to go to Big Bear."

“We had plans and she had been looking forward to the trip,” she added, saying that days earlier May had been asking everyone to order their snowboarding lift pass so they’d be ready when they got to the California resort town."

"At 11:18 p.m. on Jan. 9, Drouaillet called Chula Vista police to report her sister missing..."

IMO, she should've been found by now if that was the case, especially if it was alongside a busy highway. Hwy 52 gets backed up with traffic during rush hours, and there's houses overlooking it. I do agree with @Lilibet that someone would have to drive on the remote back roads and have a vehicle that could handle it. Any car parked alongside a busy road would get noticed, especially with vanity plates.

I'm sorry, my post wasn't very clear. I did not mean she would be dumped on the side of the road, but rather rolled down an embankment in to a gulch/ravine that is not a trail. So off-road, down hill in to an area not foot travelled.

ETA: I wonder if 52 has cams?

Amateur opinion and speculation

Going back to the water/earth debate, I feel she'll be found at a hiking place.
My reasoning is, imo this was the result of a heated argument and the disposal could have still been affected by anger towards her: 'you want hiking? Hike this!' moo

I personally rule out garbage dumping, too impersonal after so many years together moo

Water imo would need longer time away from car/toddler.
Jmo MOO

I’m starting to wonder if MM isn’t closer to home than we originally thought. I know I’m all over the place, but after thinking over everyone’s else’s ideas and theories, I have another one. In the beginning the searches were closer to home because everyone thought she was just missing on a hike, right? I think whomever said he did it quickly is correct. I don’t think he buried her though cuz that would waste too much time, maybe he hid her in brush or near an embankment of some sort? My other possible scenario is that LM left around 6:30 with the intention of dropping the body off before sunrise to avoid sightings. There are other reasons why someone would move quickly as stated before, decomp, risk of getting pulled over...etc.

Perhaps another search close to the mountains is due, but on a Jeep trail. Two things that stand out to me are, his resentment in the word “Jeeping”, also and his perceived excitement (“Exactly!”) when the interviewer said that MM would need her car to go on Jeep routes.

Thoughts?

That's a possibility for sure. I posted a sig alert map (did you look at it?) that shows cameras on the freeways including 52, but there's helicopters reporting traffic on a daily basis. There's sometimes homeless camps in the canyons that you might not expect. Soon, with fire season approaching, there will be controlled burns which means people from the fire depts. roaming around those ravines. Hopefully, it's only a matter of time before she's found. All JMO.

Just examples from past:
- 3 Controlled Burns Conducted In San Diego County | San Diego, CA Patch
- Press Release Cuyamaca Rancho SP Prescribed Burn 2019.2020ADA.pdf

Sunrise that day was at 6:51am so that is 21 minutes to drop her, hide her and go.
I'd guess that means she would be very close.

Open a map of Chula Vista, and look east. There's your wilderness, your blind (no cameras) roads, even a gorge or two. Also, lakes. Much closer than Solana Beach or anywhere else we are looking at now...and much less traveled. Still. IMO, she would have been found by now if she had been left out there.

I went down the rabbit hole about the car navigation on lexus, but don't know the exact type.
I think someone who knows cars could delete history but LE would know when it happened (I'm assuming obv after Fri. Not sure it can be retrieved, does anyone know cars?

Also, if you have an ipad/android tablet and use it without sim offline aeroplane mode perhaps, can that be tracked?
Thinking that 4 yr old kids are often entertained with them on car journey, my kid definitely moo

Yes, a clever forensic specialist could retrieve erased data, with effort.
A child of that size and age could easily sleep for hours if given a small dose of child's Benadryl. Not saying that happened, just thinking of all possibilities and scenarios.
