DNA Solves
DNA Solves
DNA Solves
I'm sort of puzzled because if there is trash in the area indicating that the homeless camp there, if a body had been there for the past 3+ months, I think that one of the homeless people would have tried to tell LE about it way before now. Or maybe they feared they would be suspected of the crime? I guess that's always a possibility.

You can't reason with crazy.

GE is a remorseless psychopath that killed the person she was most angry with, justifying her actions in ways you and I are not capable of, except as writers of fiction, perhaps. Michelle got caught within a vortex she probably had no role in creating.

I think we are interested in this case, partly, because we realize that any of us, our children, or our loved ones are as vulnerable to violence as Michelle was. When a mentally unbalanced person sees us as a threat, for whatever reason, any one of us could be murdered by an animal masquerading as a human being who won't shed one tear--ever. This seems incomprehensible at the same time we are reminded that senseless murders like this happen every single day.

I don't know if Michelle's death could have been prevented: by Giselle's parents, a warning from Scott, from her friends who might have told her to stop listening to her heart, and to run for her life instead, and fast.

I don't know if any of us would do anything differently ourselves, or to wisely advise others as a result of what happened to this young woman.

What have you learned from Michelle's death? Despite my sorrow at how inhumane people can be to one another, perhaps once someone is targeted by the cold, heartless soul of a murderer, their life's focus is to destroy you until they do.

I'm sickened by Michelle's death--she deserved better. At this point, though, I'm damned if I know how it could have been prevented.

But, maybe you do.

Great post. I'm afraid it only could have been prevented by going back and changing history, which is impossible.... It seems like Michelle was a nice, happy person who didn't see the evil going on in GE's brain and it appears she tried to be nice to her. If Michelle had broken ties with her (and Scott, whatever the tie is there) early on, maybe it wouldn't have happened. Who knows? What a sad world where you have to worry who your friends' friends are.

from the link (bolding by me):
"The gender of the remains will be determined on Monday at the Alameda County Coroner's Office in Oakland. Soon after that, specialists will try to identify the remains, but it's anyone's guess right now as to how long that will take.

"There's nothing that was with the body that says one way or another," said Sgt. J. D. Nelson with the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. "There's no jewelry that was found. There's not a tattoo to find."

Nelson said dental remains are available for comparison to records, but admits that if DNA is needed to identify the remains it could take longer.

Although the remains have yet to be identified, investigators had long considered her remains to be somewhere in rural Alameda County based on cell phone records."

So maybe we will hear at least if it was a woman or man today. How sad that whoever the person is, that the body was lying out there for so long...

I just saw the last part of a news report from outside the Alameda County courthouse. Esteban has a new attorney but I don't know if he is a public defender; not sure if she entered a plea. Kristyne Dinh was there but has been told by the D.A. not to speak about the case so she didn't appear on camera. Hopefully there will be an online link soon which can fill in the details.

From looking at the map and photos on the previous page here, I am actually slightly surprised the remains weren't discovered earlier since the area doesn't appear to be that isolated. I am confused, however, if they had been partially buried or was the body just dumped above ground?

I don't understand how people (like the homeless or whatever) could have been staying in that spot and not seen the body and reported it. It's just too bizarre and grisly.

Some rough people ride the trains--not legitimate passengers, but hoboes who climb on board. With that spot being so close to the train tracks, I wonder if someone could have pitched a body from a moving train? In that case it would not be Michelle, of course.

ETA: not all the hoboes riding the rails are murderers, but you do hear about some that are.

I got the impression it was dumped above ground. :(

I believe that's my problem with this scenario as well. Of course I suppose there could be any number of reasons why someone in a homeless camp wouldn't report anything.

Here's an online link with some info on that:
"Giselle Esteban, suspected of killing Hayward nursing student Michelle Le, delayed entering a plea at a brief hearing on Monday.

Attorney Andrea Auer said she just met Esteban that morning and needs time to go over details in the case before it is decided she will be Esteban's long-term counsel."

From the ABC 7 helicopter shots, the red arrow was where she was found.

From looking at this map it looks like if you turned onto Verona and went down to where the body was found you would have needed to pass right by that house there. If I lived in that house, and was home, I would probably be looking at any cars that passed that way since it's off the beaten track. I'm sure they are questioning the residents about any car traffic in front of their house.
There also looks to be small road/trail closer to where they found the body. Is that used for cars does anyone know? That is closer to the main road. Quite close actually. Makes more sense to have used this road/path if you were doing something evasive.

That's a hobo trail. I'm willing to bet it's going to turn out to be a bum that's found. GE would have some balls to roll past a house like that to dump a body.

I agree Jedi but she had some balls to accost Michelle in the parking garage too.

According to the article, Esteban's family members were in attendance. Okay, so she does have family.

Asked how Esteban is doing, Auer said "she's coping"....SHE's coping??? :banghead: Oh yeah, that's right, she's trying to cope with being a murderer I guess. That's a good lawyer-like response....

I wonder if GE registered any kind of emotion or response when she heard that a body was found? Might indicate whether it is Michelle. But--with her flat affect I wouldn't expect any kind of response at all.

Hmmmm...it's interesting that Scott Marasigan's family has custody of the 5 year old daughter, and not GE's family. I guess she (the little girl) would have had too much contact with GE if placed with GE's parents?

When I looked at GE's MySpace photos she had lots of photos with her daughter up until about 2009. So I would speculate that sometime between 2009 and 2011 things started going south for her because after that she did not post any pics that I remember. (of course she may have just not been posting pics there anymore) Maybe she started posting them on her FB or something.

I was looking at Google maps and it looks like that road where the body was found may go all the way through to Castlewood Drive. Does anyone know if it does?
It is pretty close to the tracks. Makes me wonder if it is Michelle. Maybe the body is of a homeless person that was living out there. Either way I hope someones family finds closure. Someone is missing a loved one.

I think that it is logical for a parent to have custody over grandparents. Since Scott is not in jail or a suspect, he should have custody. It is very difficult in other situations where the other parent has custody of a missing person's child when that parent might have caused the person to go missing.

While also considering the remains may be a homeless person or someone camping out near the RR tracks, it's the absence of clothing that brings some doubt in my mind. Unless other homeless would have removed the clothing for themselves it seems more logical that this is Michelle with the perpetrator removing them to try to avoid detection and/or identification.

It is odd that the clothes are missing. If I saw a dead body there is no way I could remove the clothing. If GE did she is even more deranged than I thought. That is a very cold thing to do in my mind.
