I really hope that Mitrice is alive. I hope that she's just lost and confused. Sometimes you come across a case that really bothers you and this case has bothered me since day one. Maybe it's the strange circumstances of her disappearance, maybe it's because she looks like Chima Simone from my favorite show Big Brother, maybe it's because like my sister she's gay, maybe it's all of the above, but whatever it is I really feel for her and her family. I wish I lived in the area so I could take her picture to homeless shelters, free clinics, hospitals, etc. The circumstances of her disappearance make me wonder if something happened to her at or after she left the police station but with all of the sightings of her I'm holding out hope that she's okay. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she's found alive and well. We need to get her picture out there so people can be on the look out for her.

Me too, me too, me too! Does she have a missing person poster that looks like she did when she went missing? I have folks in LA who could be keeping a lookout!

LovinTK - I'm with you on the police station thought. Just to weird for me... the camera was broke - I don't buy it, not for a minute.

Even without makeup and her hair done this girl would be recognizable. She has a very distinct look, especially her jaw area. This girl could be a model.

I really thought she would have been found by now.

I live in Ventura County and I have been watching out for her. I used to live in the Agoura area where she was released and there really is nothing around there. Maybe they could run a story in the Ventura County paper since there has been a potential sighting. She needs more press. I have felt so angry about the way this was handled. I pray she finds her way home or is found safe. It is starting to get pretty cold here at nights. I will keep looking. God bless you, your family and girlfriend Mitrice.

LovinTK, haha I loved Chima, even after her meltdown on the show. Mitrice does look a bit like her.

Anyway, last Monday I took Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon instead of 101/405 for my commute from Ventura County to Santa Monica. I just don't see how she could have possibly walked all the way from the station to PCH. It's way too long and treacherous with all of the hills. She would have probably been exhausted just from the walk from the the station to Piuma Road, which is about 1/3 or 1/2 of the way to PCH.

As I mentioned, I still think someone picked her up and she is hiding or is scared. If what the police said was true, that her mother wanted to teach her a lesson, I could see her going missing voluntarily because there is probably other stuff going on as well.

Or, she could have easily been hit by a car and relocated. This is unlikely. If she was seen at 6 in the Piuma area, someone would have seen this happen. The sighting in the Piuma neighborhood was not right off of the canyon road, it was somewhat deep into the neighborhood. If this is not a voluntary disappearance, she may have wondered further into this area, which quickly becomes wilderness. I don't think that happened though.

If she had some kind of psychological break, I don't think it would have lasted this long.

To me, the last option would be the worst case scenario, and I really don't think that is what happened. The sighting at 6am (if true) put that to rest in my mind. The opportunity for crime had well passed.

This is all so very heartbreaking.
I think of Matrice often and just wish she is somewhere safe and warm.
Hope today brings some poitive news on Matrice!!!

An editor at the Ventura County Reporter emailed me back requesting more information on this case. I hope they run a story on Mitrice. I linked the facebook page and Advocate article. I hope he can find out more about the possible sighting.

Where was this sighting? Is this one of the LA sightings, or the ones the morning after she was arrested?

Hi...saw Mitrice in the People Mag feature..and have been browsing thru this and catching up...

my "logical" ideas are >> it sounds as if she truly had a mental "breakdown"...she is of the age where schizophrenia often becomes evident, right?? From what I am reading here, it sounds like that >> ie, "I'm from Mars"

I do hope that she has just "taken off"...and will be found, I agree that they need to show the "arrest" picture as that would probably be how she looks now if she is out there??

I remember the Matthew Williams case very well....this reminds me a bit of that...overacheiver...much loved by family....and ? into thin air...

and the common "gay" factor.....which please believe me I am not "bashing" or slamming gay people...but honestly statistics show that they have a high rate of suicide, depression, especially among young gay people or "conflicted" young gay people whose families disapprove

I think Mitrice is a beautiful, gifted young woman who happens to be gay and schizophrenic (which just now has shown up)...may have been depressed in past...I have a feeling that she also may have been putting on a huge mask to the world. Some of her smiles look forced...she had a loving girlfriend but long distance..which means that the girlfriend may have only seen her when she is "up" and wearing her happy mask

Young adult and teen "overacheivers" can mask their inner turmoil it seems...I really "feel" that here...I am not psychic and I don't claim to be, but I try to look at things logically and choose the simplest answers (usually right)

so....hopefully that is what has happened....and she will be found

the other...very possible...situation is that she was accosted by a stranger on that lonesome stretch of road and ....sad ending.

I really really hope and pray my "first" scenario of breakdown, drop out is correct!

Hi, From the Advocate article there was a possible sighting in east Ventura County (Thousand Oaks) around November 16th. The area was rural. Park rangers searched the area and didn't find anyone. Not sure if it was Mitrice or not. Just hoping she gets home. I'm new, hope this reply works.

Family searches missing woman's car for clues

ATHENS, Calif. (KABC) -- The family of a missing South L.A. woman refuses to give up, and they're combing through her abandoned car for clues.

Mitrice Richardson vanished more than two months ago after being released from the Malibu-Lost Hills sheriff's station.

For the first time Friday, Richardson's father and friend came up with the courage to go through Mitrice's abandoned car that was in a police impound yard since her disappearance. Inside the car is a jumbled mess clothing, papers and CDs. They were looking for anything that might help them find her.

"This is the first time. It's awful bad. No matter what, I'm going to finish the job today," said Mitrice's father.

It was also difficult for Mitrice's friend Tess Moon. Mitrice was at Geoffrey's restaurant in Malibu. She couldn't pay her bill. Deputies found a small amount of marijuana and took her in to the Lost Hills sheriff's station.
She was released from the station after 12:30 a.m. with no cell phone, no purse and no car and 40 miles from home. That was the last time anyone is certain they've seen her. There have been friends passing out fliers and deputies searching with dogs and on horseback.

Her father knows police have supposedly gone through the messy car.

"Maybe something will ring a bell to me. I'm desperate for anything," said Richardson.

Going through the young woman's car was an emotional time for the father and her friend. Moon says she's never seen the car this messy.

"This is not like her to leave everything, her ID, phone. It doesn't sound like her," said Moon.

Mitrice was acting strangely at Geoffrey's telling people she was from Mars and was there to avenge Michael Jackson's death, but she later passed a field sobriety test.

"When I told the family I'm going to clean it up today, they said why. I want it nice and clean for when she comes home," said Richardson.

Detectives told Richardson never give up the belief his daughter is alive. He still needs help finding her but has never given up hope that she will return home soon.

I don't understand why it took them so long to go through her car. WTH? I really hoped Mitrice would have been found by Thanksgiving. I still believe she's alive out there somewhere.

I have my peeps in the L.A. area on the lookout. They think I'm nuts!

Me too. It's been far too long. I think she was in the wrong place at the wrong time and something bad happened. We just need to find out what.

Thanks LE -- great work :( :banghead:
