It would make sense to me that those are the most recent photos the extended West family have if they didn't see the boys in 2020 due to COVID. I'm not sure that's a fact though. If they didn't see them in 2020, is there a Gma mix-up then? ie: It seems as though most have assumed that the Gma who last saw them in Dec. was Gma West. If that has been clarified, I missed it. MOO
If they didn't see them 'due to covid' why did they have the other kids on the 19th. This whole Covid excuse is getting old. MOO

I just saw a youtuber and he had a vid of the police chief talking about the case. He said they found a piece of a ?giftbag with the name of one of the kids on it? Has anyone else heard this?

Yes that’s one of the first searches & PC with Chief Jon Walker (old news). The gift bag was one of the many gifts a young gal from the neighborhood placed on the stone fence out front on day 2. It had somehow made its way down the road to the open desert & found during the search.

In a statement, the extended West family said:

Orrin and Orson West are still missing and there have been no promising leads that we know of. As we, the extended adoptive family, face uncertainty of their whereabouts — we are both grieving and deeply dedicated to the search for the boys. A search that has been made complicated by certain individuals and entities creating distractions all with the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. This most recent statement is not written for or by the adoptive parents but we as the extended adoptive family have been terrorized as if that is the best way to help find the boys.
Law enforcement continues to investigate the missing brothers. On Feb 1st, the California City Police Department was seen imaging device at the West home.

Saturday, the West family released another statement:

"What has continued is the alarming number of threats of physical violence (including death threats), intentional harassment and misinformation..."

This behavior being targeted towards the adoptive Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins of the missing boys is misguided at best because none of us are persons of interest or suspects in terms of the disappearance."

"Unfortunately I think sometimes a rumor mill can arise from that, where we see YouTube pages and private pages pop up with various accounts of information," Kelsey Brackett, Community Relations Specialist for the Bakersfield Police Department, said. "I think it's important for people, I do plead with them to please be patient, please wait for law enforcement to do their investigations, to follow up on all leads."

"In the last month or so we've received calls regarding criminal threats, we've received calls for checks for welfare, we've received calls for trespassing and also for verbal peace disturbances in the area," Brackett said.

"However when they're putting those efforts into threats or harassment or trying to intimidate some of these families or even witnesses involved in these cases, it really takes away law enforcement's time to be able focus on our missing boys," Brackett said.

Adopting children to sell them makes no sense. With that much paper trail left behind? No. If you want to sell a child, you kidnap a child, you don’t adopt and leave a paper trail behind. I honestly don’t understand how this theory could even make sense.

I've been listening to other people about the missing kids. Tonight someone said maybe the adoptive parents hadn't attached to Orrin and Orson as they were adopted. He thought this might explain their lack of emotion during the interview. I don't buy it. I've always keyed into the details and logic people use. The details mentioned by TW were just weird.

Someone else said the ground penetrating radar was a performance for the ABC news crew. That one almost sounds plausible. Dunno though.

What do you guys think?

I really don't see LE asking for a warrant to use such machinery for publicity, PR reasons or anything like that. Plus if it had been, it at least would've been more exposure if we're talking about the national ABC and not the local 23ABC so win-win imo

I have had step-children that I have been as attached to as my biological children. And have friends who have adopted children who are showered with love, affection, and they are as bonded with their children.

It is not an issue of "adopted or biological", we have seen biological parents who are just as cold and distant, Casey Anthony, Lori Vallow Daybell, just to name two.

You are exactly right!!!! IT IS AN issue with the type of ADULTS in their life.

MOO

I think that the children might be telling the police whatever their parents told them to tell the police. If something bad did happen to Orrin and Orson in their own home, the children were surely aware that whoever harmed those little boys would not hesitate to do the same thing to them. If so, the other kids may not be choosing to lie, rather choosing to obey someone that they were afraid of. MOO

I asked about the age range of the other 4 children earlier. IIRC, the oldest is 10, the rest younger. I don't believe children in this age range would know the exact date of Dec 19th as the last time they saw their little brothers. Now, I'm sure LE had someone skilled speak to these children and they could have determined the date based on what they said, matching it up with already told statements. I still think it's odd they would indicate Dec 19th at that age. IMO

They probably didn't indicate Dec. 19th, but something more like, "The day we went to Sonic" or something like that (I have no clue if they even have Sonic in CA, just an example).
