Why would Rebecca kill herself & try to make it look like a homicide? That's quite an accusation to make against a deceased woman who is not here to defend herself.

Maybe she felt anger at JS for blaming her for Max's death. Maybe she had other issues with JS that were ongoing, and when he lashed out at her over Max's death, she replied in kind.

The video showed her tieing the knots, then loosening one and taking the right hand out, then reinserting it after repositioning both hands behind the back. That's their theory and they're sticking to it!

They also said they didn't know if even Rebecca could repeat the knot scenario. I found that statement, made more than once, very interesting.

If anyone HAD told Rebecca she was to blame, they probably would not admit it, once they learned she was dead, probably had killed herself. Most people would not want to come out and say that they said the one thing that might have driven someone to suicide.

The circumstances of RN's death were odd to me from the get-go. Now that the tube of black paint, two paint brushes and "message" on the door has been factored in, it just went to bizarre. IMO

Rebecca is a victim. Whether she killed herself or was murdered, she is a victim. I thought we didn't trash victims on this site? There is NO evidence she was at fault or negligent in Maxies fall or the aftermath.

That's one pretty unique suicide to say the least. Not only was she in the nude, but she supposedly took a t-shirt and put it around her neck? And I bet years from now they will be justifying other people bizarre "suicides" as saying-see, RN killed herself that way, so what's so strange about this one?

I think LE was being respectful of RN. Blaming her wouldn't serve any purpose at this point. It's pretty easy to draw the conclusion that Maxie's fall could have been prevented if only he had been supervised.

Hmmm. And why wasn't his caring, loving parents supervising him?

The police said the railing was on 20 inches high at the point he went over. Hmmm, why didn't the home owner that have small children in the home replace the bannister with a higher/code specific railing.

Hmmmm....parents...some don't care and want others to raise their kids...and have someone else to blame when things go bad......hmmmmm

In that case it was very poor judgement by Jonah to put the kid in the care of someone with no common sense. Buy a damnm nanny, bigwig. Why put the girlfriend with no common sense to work in the first place?

Rebecca was a grown woman, trained in a medical field.

I think it is absurd to blame Jonah.

I can certainly understand them being upset. I would think that the list could be very short however.

Sorry you guys, no way Im believing all this lol.

He needed supervision but it sounds as though there was none whatsoever. What a shame.

My goodness! I certainly wish I had your ability to see through walls as you do! You may be perfectly correct in the end but your "absolutes" are a bit difficult to swallow.

Yeah, this theory of the tying doesn't make as much sense to me as what I've read from several other posters. They suggested that she could have tied her hands and then stepped through them, to move her hands from tied in front of her to tied in back of her. If she left enough slack, it would pretty straightforward to tie her hands, then tie her feet, then step through her hands. I'm assuming she'd have to have placed the noose on her neck before starting to tie her hands, though maybe there's another way to do that too.

I know from reading Ocean's post that people who commit suicide by hanging do tie their feet. I don't understand why, and I feel like a lot of other "non rational" suicide behaviors can be understood, if only in the mindset of someone who's in a lot of pain. For example, committing suicide in the nude could be a way to link death with birth, sort of like leaving the world as you came into it.

Perhaps, in the end, it doesn't matter why she made the choices that she made, only that they were the expression of a tremendous amount of pain.

The more fantastical, fictional conspiracy theory side of me has thought that BigPharma + the deaths of the child and girlfriend of JS could have something to do with some revenge against JS. But I'm pretty sure that's just a tv/book explanation, and not what happened here.

No proof she was in the bathroom. It sounds as though the child lay there quite some time without first aid and she was the only adult around. If I were his parents, I'd most certainly blame her.

Is a video recording of Rebecca on the toilet necessary in order to prove she was in the bathroom when Maxie fell?

When did they say he was trying to slide down the bannister? It was stated he ran and fell off the top of the staircase, tried to hold on to the chandelier, which broke and was flung against the opposite bannister, then falling to the floor. I also feel Rebecca had the right to go to the bathroom. Were you there? Do you know if Maxie was horsing around, or needed to be supervised more closely? I would think that blaming Rebecca for an accident is akin to playing God. Not even LE placed blame on her shoulders. Again, WOW!

I think it is obvious that he was horsing around if he ran hard and fast enough to fall from the upper balcony and landed out far enough to reach the chandelier.

And of course she has the 'right' to go to the bathroom. But this is a 27 room mansion with a HUGE staircase, and a very high balcony. Not your typical family home. Maybe she should have waited until the 13 yr old was out of the shower so Max could be supervised more closely.

I am not 'blaming' her for the accident, just saying that she was in charge of Max that day. And he was in a dangerous situation being so high up, when he was such a rambunctious kid. So I can see why she felt somewhat guilty and why she felt bad.

There is no evidence whatsoever that Rebecca was "raising" Maxie all by herself. I left my children in the care of others all the time. If one of them had died for lack of supervision, I guarantee you I would place blame.

If anyone HAD told Rebecca she was to blame, they probably would not admit it, once they learned she was dead, probably had killed herself. Most people would not want to come out and say that they said the one thing that might have driven someone to suicide.

How did that message get erased, I wonder.

But, in my experience, they rarely call the spouse a person of interest, publicly, even if they are one. They avoid doing so for strategic and legal reasons.

I am sure they looked closely at the homicide question. They poly'ed the brother, looked at all of the hospital tapes to verify that JS was there throughout the key times, interviewed friends and family members.

Also let's not forget allegations of past violence, intimidation and a climate of fear regarding past intimate relationships of JS. He had to have been a person of interest, or else this SD LE crew really are the donut-scarfing Keystone Kops they're caricatured as.......

LE had no way to prove whether Rebecca was in the restroom when Maxie's accident took place. Wherever she was, it was for an extended period of time that his brain was deprived of oxygen.

It's not all that difficult to supervise a kid inside the house. btw, one of my son's has ADD and he was no more difficult to manage than my other kids. All it takes is common sense.

BBM - OK, I'll bite - so where was Rebecca when Maxie's accident took place?

I cant imagine a good reason for LE to declare it a suicide if there was something else that occured. So there must be solid compelling evidence. And I think the entire case is tragic.
