I tried linking the article from a site called blink on crime, but the forum blocked it, I believe. I'll try to get the source to you.

Don't worry, nursebeeme posted it. I just wanted to make sure that the info didn't come straight from the imagination of a poster on some random site. (No, it didn't. :)) Info from some sites can often derail the search for the truth, if they aren't scrupulous in differentiating theory, make believe, speculation, etc. from information that at least has a real source standing behind it.
I appreciate the information. It's certainly intriguing and may be important.

Thanks so much!!
Oh my, she looks so carefree and happy.
But, it does seem she was heading toward home (I'm assuming that is her home we are seeing) and something caught her attention and drew her away. The way she moves her hair out of her face, and turns her head, it does seem like she hears something and is looking to see who it is or what it is then heads that way.
My opinion only.

I have a comment about the video... I think this particular clip was taken from a neighbor's camera as it is shot facing her home....????? the spokesman would not comment on the angle....

So the house she is skipping toward was not her house? It looked as if she was on track skipping toward her house?? Or whatever house the camera was on, and then she got sidetracked. It seemed this was when she slowed her pace, and moved the hair from her face. If the camera wasn't on her house, it sure looked like she was heading for whoevers house this was.

Bless her heart, that video makes me so sad. :( Such a vibrant little girl, skipping along.

I agree and this appears to be the confusion. When watching the tape it appears Sandra is GOING home, not leaving. Yet LE keeps saying the tape is of Sandra leaving her home? Doesn't make sense. If she is LEAVING her home and the camera is ON her home, we would be seeing her back. Instead we see her heading straight towards the camera.:confused:

I'm thinking this is the camera that is attached to her house pointing toward the front porch and front yard.

Maybe they consider she is leaving her home because IF this is her home, she bypasses it and continues on

It could be the house across the street from the camera is her home she was leaving?

Great quality CCTV. I'd like to know what brand that is.

This is a good point. She is heading towards her home, but then leaves it as she turns away. Kinda weird wording, but I don't know how else LE would say it. I don't think LE wanted to say that she was "sidetracked" in the beginning or that she was called away. So I guess the wording makes some kind of sense?

I probably just missed it, but has there been any comment/speculation/ LE statements etc. referencing this case in relation to the young boy named Kyle who was kidnapped and held captive for over a year in this same city?

I wonder if there is a different door to her home that she decided to use instead of going in the front door.

Sometimes, my kids and their friends will come straight thru the garage or around the side gate when they arrive home from playing elsewhere. They like to play in the back yard.

Does Sandra have younger siblings? Could she have been told not to use the front door so as not to wake a sleeping baby, or some other reason?

Susan

Thermal imaging is very effective in finding decomposing bodies. The gasses create some heat, etc.

(snip)
Making an aerial reconnaissance--Using thermal imaging from the air, freshly turned dirt appears colder when scanned as compared to densely, compacted dirt. Conversely, a decaying corpse gives off heat which may show up on a thermal imager

Thanks, SuziQ, for knowing this and posting it; but, of course, I'm so sorry about its possible implications...

The camera angle is really confusing.
"Sandra's grandfather recently installed surveillance cameras on his mobile home after the tires on his truck were slashed, Chavez said - a rare crime for the area that the family has speculated might be retaliation for him trapping cats that trespass on his property and taking them to the pound.
The surveillance cameras have been helpful in showing Sandra on the property at about 4 p.m. Friday. A second camera, which faces the entrance to the park, does not show the girl leaving that way, Chavez said - which would have been unusual."

Okay, by "property," do they mean her grandfather's lot or the Orchard Estates property? By "on" the property, do they mean on her grandfather's lawn or porch or do they mean within the mobile home park? Could this be footage of the second camera facing the entrance to the park, and the footage, then, shows her going away from the entrance??
Maybe I missed it, but do we have a map showing her grandfather's trailer in relation to the entrance to the park? Has anyone come across a picture of her GF's trailer to see if it has a porch and planter similar to the one in the video? (I'm looking, but if anyone already has one handy, it would save me some time. :))

Here's Sandra's living situation:
"She attends Jacobson Elementary School and shares a mobile home with her mother, three older siblings and grandparents in a mobile home park full of friendly children."

"Mobile home park full of friendly children"? The article also states that her aunt says all the kids there play together. So why do the Slayters say she only had adults for friends??

The more I think about the Slayters, the more I get concerned about the age of their son. One of the articles (with the picture of them at the prayer vigil) said Mr. Slayter is 44 years old. The only moms around 44 (that I have run into personally over the years) having a child near Sandra's age ALSO have several other children, and for some of them the youngest was even a surprise. I know it's totally possible the Slayters could have an eight year old son. Some of you may even be 44 with an 8 year old...I'm just saying that would be unusual - especially as an only child. I also think that if their child was Sandra's age, they would have mentioned it immediately because then everything sounds more normal that Sandra would be over there.

I'm REALLY curious to know his age!

Ugh! Now were going to be stuck on what camera and where instead of other information we could get from that video! Wish they would just say where that camera was. Also the neighbors have a camera on their house too?

Okay someone help me out here: Sandra left her house went to a friends came back home for a few minutes and than..... So was that her coming home the SECOND time? If she got distracted the first time I don't get it...
