BBM -- outdoorspeople tend to already own everything they need.
Mr. Carbuff is a serious hiker, and that means a section of our basement is taken up with stuff like this -- several sleeping bags, at least four different types of camp stove, cooking gear, at least six tents of varying sizes and weights, stuff I don't even know the name of. He wouldn't even have to pack the ordinary stuff like first aid kit, compass, etc. because that lives in the pack he uses most often. There's a shelf in the pantry full of dehydrated meals, packets of peanut butter, powdered sports drinks, etc.
It does take a few minutes to put the sleeping bag and tent in compression stacks and so forth, but I would bet he could pack and be out of here prepared for a couple of weeks in the wilderness in less than half an hour if he needed to.
