I guess this is actually where Fleming was spotted at the bus stop... about a mile from where his vehicle was found/where he was hiding.

Calvine Road and Elk Grove Florin Road

Makes more sense... not sure where the 'Cosumnes' or the 'Elk Grove Woods' comes in.
Cosumnes is the name of things out there. Cosumnes River College, Cosumnes River Fire Department etc. I probably misunderstood what you meant by that.

The Elk Grove Woods thing just sounds like something a kid would say to describe the dense bushy area he was hiding IMO

Do they usually do a booking photo straight away or would they have let him clean up and have a shave at the police station? There doesn't seem to be any photo of him when he was arrested. JMOO

In general you would think the booking photo would happen right away. But maybe in this case he asked if he could clean up a bit and they obliged because he was being talkative. Something like that.

Well, if they give that luxury in CA, take it away. You get arrested & there's no luxuries. jmo

Check out Maricopa mugshots. It's on the floor funny. Ooops, I did that face? Many, many LE jail bookings across the nation, have some gems. jmo

Oh, if you have had a recent picture taken, someone might provide it also. If that's a CA jail booking photo, it also might have been from a previous booking I've found in my travels.

I tend to think it was how he appeared upon booking. It sounds like he understands 3 squares a day and lodging provided. Of course his lawyer will twist this fact during trial.

I think there was some misreporting by the media or they were given bad/confusing info by LE...

Although...

Officials said Fleming admitted to moving a couple of times, and occasionally emerging to buy food and water.

Hello all,

I live in the area, am very familiar with the case, and attend Cosumnes River College.

I put together a couple maps of the area to help everyone get a clearer idea of what the area is like.

Below is the map of where Orville Fleming's Truck was abandoned, which is shown by the blue circle. The red shows possible areas that he may have hidden in. There is a lot of overgrowth, with walking trails along the edges.
FlemingAbandonedTruckMap1.jpg

The bus runs very close to where his truck was found abandoned, and it's been confirmed that he was observed getting onto the bus and followed until he exited at Cosumnes River College, where he was arrested.

I also wanted to point out that there is a Goodwill in the area, which is in the shopping center across from Cosumnes River College (CRC). CRC is a main hub for the buses in Elk Grove, allowing for people to transfer between E-tran (Elk Grove) and Regional Transit (Sacramento). Here is a map of the Goodwill in relation to the College. The Goodwill is the smaller circle.

I think it's very well possible that on a previous occasion, he could have freshened up at CRC after getting clothes from the Goodwill. We're in the middle of finals, so students are very preoccupied. There are many bathrooms on campus that he could have used, as well as vending machines, etc. There's also a large parking garage on campus that he could have used when walking back to the bus from the Goodwill.

His first court date is tomorrow, May 20, 2014 @ 1:30 P.M.

Crystal... thank you very much!

"...it's been confirmed that he was observed getting onto the bus and followed until he exited at Cosumnes River College"

Not sure if it's important, but where was this confirmed? So did he get on the bus at Calvine Rd & Elk Grove Florin Rd and off at near CRC?

It's confirmed in the link you posted.

:) ... there are a lot of news stories that say he was at the bus stop at Cosumnes River College, just that others said he was at another location, but I think this answers my question..

Then, on Friday, a Sacramento County sheriff's detective spotted Fleming getting on a bus at Calvine Road and Elk Grove Florin Road, about a mile from where Fleming ditched his truck. Investigators followed the bus to Cosumnes River College where Fleming was arrested without incident.

Just got back from Fair. No time to check web when kids are showing livestock. Under a bush in the river bottom. Wow. Crazy, guess they brought the wrong dogs to look for him. Good job MR. Detective, waiting and watching. Good job. All I can say is he did not plan the event.

Yeah, and some magical water source to boot! Unless he was drinking from residents hoses.

Wonder if he was staying at a homeless encampment. The next town/county over from us has several along the railroad tracks and down by the Fair grounds. We get several fires a year that come from the camps. The (Joeys) just get up and quietly walk away. Also wondering if he grabbed MREs from his truck and some bottled water. That way I guess he could have just been filling off water sources in the area. Who knows its all speculation. I am guessing tho the homeless population may have been helping him and not knowing what he had done. Oh and if he had his red bag with him, that would have had his shaving kit in it. Guess we will find out soon enough. :moo:

Some news is saying the same about homeless camps nearlby...

...and, I didn't catch it all but there were some pics on the news last night of trash in that area

He shaved his mustache, and neighbors say the homeless are known to camp out near the tracks.

Since there is so much garbage and debris in the area, it’s unclear where his exact spot was. Deputies had searched the area without finding Fleming.
I don't know what to think about this though, he stabbed her, it's not like it was an accident ...

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department says it appears former Cal Fire chief Orville Fleming attempted suicide after the murder.

A much different picture of Fleming is emerging that is far from cold and calculating. Detectives confirm there are indications that Fleming tried committing suicide after allegedly murdering his fiancee, Sarah Douglas.

Orville "Moe" Fleming, the former Cal Fire Battalion Chief charged with the murder of his girlfriend, made a brief appearance in Sacramento Municipal Court this afternoon.

His attorney asked for a delay of Fleming's arraignment until next week.
Fleming, dressed in an orange jail jumpsuit, told the judge he doesn't have money to hire a private attorney.

Guess he didn't save any of that $130k/yr he was making.

Cal Fire had issued BOLO's for Fleming in Santa Cruz, so they were on the lookout for him.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating whether state firefighters had sex with a woman who later was stabbed to death in the home she shared with a battalion chief.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said this week that it has asked the CHP to investigate, although authorities say they have not located a video.

The former Cal Fire battalion chief accused of murdering his fiancée will stand trial for the crime.

Orville Fleming appeared in court today and faced his victim’s family. “I wish he would just plead guilty so we don’t have to go to trial, and all the details of the murder,” said Trudie Werly, Sarah Douglas’ mother...

Fleming will be back in court for his murder trial on March 17.

Sixteen state firefighters have been placed on paid leave in an ongoing investigation that grew out of what California fire officials say were unfounded allegations of a sex tape...

The investigation began in May after fire academy instructor and battalion chief Orville Fleming was charged with murder in the death of a former escort who became his girlfriend.

Fleming's estranged wife said she had viewed a video showing the victim having sex with firefighters on fire trucks. Upton said investigators determined there was no tape. She said the allegations involve unrelated policy violations.

Cal Fire officials put 16 workers on administrative leave Monday as they prepare to receive results of an investigation into allegations that firefighters had sex with prostitutes at the Fire Academy in Ione...

Cal Fire asked the California Highway Patrol to investigate those claims in late May, and results of the investigation are expected in early January, Cal Fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said Monday.

“Based on the preliminary information from our investigators, we did move forward with placing 16 of our employees on administrative leave,” Berlant said.

Two state firefighters have been fired and another has resigned after an investigation prompted by the slaying of a CalFire battalion chief's girlfriend.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection began serving employees with disciplinary papers on Wednesday. Spokeswoman Janet Upton tells The Associated Press that 13 other employees face discipline including suspensions, demotions or reductions in pay.

Fifteen of the 16 were instructors at the department's fire academy.
