Things I have learned from my first WS case in 15 threads:
1. I'm definitely middle aged
2. I have a questionable relationship with zip ties
3. I have no idea why this happened to Sherri
4. Sometimes it is best to keep my "grand" sleuthing ideas to myself as things play out because
5. I can have a wonderful (I think) theory that turns out to probably suck
6. There are some really great people here

Woo-hoo ... you've been Websleuthed!

Started thinking again about the text KP received the morning she went missing and everyone thinking it was strange that she was asking him about coming home for lunch since he didn't use his cell at work.

Could it be that SP wasn't the one that actually sent that text but it was her abductors who sent the text using her phone? They could have been trying to find out how much time they had before she would actually be missed.

We don't know the make and model or year or condition of the suv.

So she could have been cuffed to anything.

Btw. Wouldn't zip ties leave plenty of skin cells behind?
Not if the zip tie attached a chain to the SUV/car. It also probably remained inside the vehicle.
MOO

Maybe an ER nurse could answer this - is it routine to weigh someone in an ER? I have been numerous times and I have been hospitalized numerous times (different hospitals), but I was never weighed, only asked how much I weigh.

Thx in advance
I'm not a nurse at all, but I'm a very clumsy person who goes to the ER regularly. Broken shoulder, arm, leg, elbow, foot (get the picture?) I have never been weighed. When I am triaged the triage nurse asks my weight and height(and sometimes throws me the stinky eye when I lie). But I would hope and pray a victim of an abduction beaten, bruised and looking emaciated would be weighed for sure.

Except we don't know that do we? Have LE not said they still don't know if it was known or random abduction?

KP was asked during 20/20 if SP knew her abductors and he said no. So to the extent you believe KP and SP, we have established that she did not know her abductors.

I have never been to a hospital or a clinic in my life and not been weighed. I believe it would be irresponsible of them not to weigh a patient. If a doctor gives drugs or treatment, he must know the patient's exact weight. They must also monitor weight, to see if there are any side effects of weight gain/loss.

Although they would weigh you if surgery is needed.

Yes, CG does seem to be pushing his involvement for personal benefit. There is little doubt, however, that his involvement added very substantially to the publicity and made Sherri a very hot commodity. But it is also possible that her hispanic FIL's Facebook post on Nov 22 which was shared 3800 times, less than 48 hours before SP's release may have been a factor. It is mentioned here but was actually quite a bit "stronger" if you read the actual quote: http://www.redding.com/news/local/P...-well-use-the-money-to-get-you-402495816.html

Or perhaps it was SP's holding the cloth and pretending it was her young daughter that brought some empathy/sympathy to at least one of the captors and led to her release, or a combination of many factors. I hope we find out someday.

I have been wondering if one of the captors started seeing Sherri more as a human after all the social media hype, and interviews with her husband. Maybe this was a first time offense for one and not the other?

Oh, there's really no need to weigh me ... I'm 125. *wink wink*

"Now, Nurse Stinkeye, why are you looking at me like that?"

I assume left handed is not a reference to political affiliations, but handedness?

I have wondered the same about KP. Never thought about SP.
I am a lefty. I won't even attempt to explain to "righties" how information has to be processed differently, or that we have trouble functioning in a right handed world.

Put it this way, as a child playing cards, my cards were always upside down. *pic on LEFT

I had to retrain my brain to hold them correctly. *pic on RIGHT That applies to pretty much everything in life...
Not trying to derail the thread, but it's a valid question IMO.

Maybe there is a thread for
lefties? If not someone could start one and I'd chime in.

Yep. My mom is left handed as well. :)

New California law or something.

So this is happening throughout the state to save reusable bags or something.

I guess we are trying to free ourselves from the Chinese market while saving the environment at the same time. Idk.

But some lawmaker had too much time on their hands. Lol.

The law bans single use plastic bags and allows stores to charge a minimum of 10 cents for paper bags or a heftier reusable plastic bag. The stores are not supposed to benefit financially from the sale of the bags. I'm wondering how that works as they used to give me the same paper bags for free that they now charge 10 cents for.

I can't imagine SP not being weighed, in the circumstances.

I go once a month to doctor and am weighed each time, though I barely fluctuate.

Anyway, jmo.

Lol. I will now become a longtime lurker at my local supermarket until they start resupplying the customers with free bags. Lol

Or I will have $500 worth of food in the cart and leave it at the cashier if they charge me extra for bags. Lol

Thank you for this! I think it's absurd to charge for groceries bags!

Couple of things missing off that time line.

Keith last saw Sherri at 6:50 the morning she disappeared (per his statement on 20/20).

AND

What time did Sherri drop the kids off at Daycare?
Really want the answer to this one. Has this time ever been posted anywhere?
I've been asking for this time line since Day 1 along with why didn't LE ask if anyone had seen her in the car that morning. One possibility is that she had a completely random encounter that morning and was followed home.

Thanks. My thought as well.

I'm never going to catch up, but wanted to post an idea. I notice a lot of people are asking why perps who did all these horrible things (beating, branding, etc) would let SP go alive. Just a random thought I had that could be true no matter who took SP or why they took her-- what if the person who released her was NOT one of the women who abducted her? What if someone connected to the abductors found SP (or found out they had her) and insisted on letting her go? Or what if a person who knew about SP being held decided to let her go without even telling the 2 women who had been holding her? Also, since there were two abductors, the two may have disagreed on what to do as far as killing her or letting live. Maybe the one who was inflicting most of the beatings wanted to kill her but the other one wanted to let her go? One could have gone behind the other's back to let SP go. These ideas fit with what the sheriff said from the very first press conference after her release that 2 abductors took her but 1 released her. Just some theories. Carry on.

I like it. :) I'm behind as well. Had to take a day off after that 20/20 interview. This is a very interesting thought.

Hi! Keith states next to phone, Sheriff stated on top of phone, neatly coiled. I could find both links for you if you wish
Sometimes I feel like this is done purposefully to Eff us WSers up. Just for fun😵

That could easily be attached by a zip tie and attached to the seat. (Don't newer cars have a car seat type hook welded to the car now?)

A zip tie would slide into the link of the chain and that hook very easily.

IMO

Those look like car seat attachment points.

I would ziptie through the chain holding the victim and on the other side I would loop though the bottom seat frame.

That would cause the victim to be hunched over towards the floor making it harder for other motorists to see whats going on. When it's time for the release, you cut the zipties with some wire cutters. JMO

You all are wordy. I've resigned myself to reading about every 10th page, so I'm sure I've missed stuff.

About the branding... we've had no clarification other than it was a message and not a logo? From the first mention of it I haven't thought of it as traditional "branding". I've pictured it more like something (words) cut into a part of her body with a knife.

I believe SP was kidnapped and held for 3 weeks. I also believe the ransom was paid. I just don't believe the rest of the story.
From the Sheriff, my paraphrasing - it was not words. it was not a symbol. but it was a message or it may have contained a message.
From (KP I think?) there were burns all over her body. KP said on 20/20 it was not on her face. The way he said it, his body language - there is something more to his answer. I don't know how to put in words the reaction I had to watching that bit - he was hesitant at best, to what should've been a simple answer. Was the brand on her face? No. But he didn't say that, IIRC he said something like - I will share with you, pause, head turn, it was not on her, pause, face. Just my shoddy memory here but it was the moment of that interview that jumped out at me, the way he answered it. I am NOT saying anything negative about KP! It is my belief that this time there was an agreement beforehand with LE as to what he would not say + what details were ok to discuss. I think he was tiptoeing around this + for some unknown reason it was not a simple answer. :waitasec:

When I hear branding, I envision something burned into the skin, hot enough + long enough to leave a permanent scar.
Could be the location, pattern or repeated marks taken as a whole = a message.
What are the possibles? No words, no symbols, but sends a message?
Numbers, date, dollar value, initials, picture that is not categorized as a "symbol", ideas?

Makes sense to me, except KP doesn't seem too worried about it. He didn't even say he hoped that LE find the perps in his interview. In fact, I am shocked by the number of photos they have released and shared of the family. So I don't know if they are too worried about the abductors.

Not sure why anyone would think the Papinis aren't "too worried" about the abductors. Keith said in the interview that yes, of course he was "terrified" by the knowledge they are still out there.

Despite being in a terribly fragile state emotionally and physically, Sherri has cooperated fully with LE by speaking with them more than once, sessions described by the Sheriff as intensely emotional for Sherri and for the LE interviewing her.

Sherri hasn't gone home, and all 4 of them (including kids) are in seclusion.

What more are they obligated to say or do? Keith has been admirably plain spoken about his feelings. Yes, he feels terrorized by the fact they're still out there, but that feeling is outweighed at the moment by his relief and joy that Sherri is alive, and that he won't have to raise their children without her.
