BBM: I wonder if that is why a good many of the perps we find out about are later described by co-workers and neighbours as shy, loners, very quiet, never socialized with other neighbours etc. It creates a good environment for them to have few people if any coming into their homes or bothering them.

It could be.

Or it could be that part of what is wrong with them mentally is a lack of social skills, leading to being socially isolated.

What worries me a lot is the thought that she is being held by someone, and it has been announced that LE now suspects this (and hopefully will soon be gaining ground on the perp), the person holding her gets spooked and decides to silence the best witness to the crime. :(

Are there any neighbors who refused to let LE search?

Also, if she went to someplace like LA, which was suggested at one point as someplace she wanted to go, I don't think she would be noticed there. It is a long distance away and she would blend in. Even San Francisco. Not saying she did, but also not so sure she would be noticed.

Good points. I find it interesting that LE is saying that they believe she is being held against her will. That is kind of a bold statement to say to the community. I wish we could know what they know :)

Totally agree. It struck me as very bold since they have been more or less saying they don't know what the heck is going on for the last week and a half. They must know more than they are letting on as far as leads or evidence. I just don't see them making a statement like that without something to back it up, even a little. It would be much safer to just say they don't know.

From what I read they all cooperated.

Thanks for the reply, I was mainly addressing the portion i bolded about not having time to undress, fold clothes, toss the bag all from within the confines of the vehicle. Plus I don't think the phone was discovered right away. If they only have a triangulation as opposed to GPS that also raises some questions about how and when they found the phone in relation to it being tossed. Again MHO only.

My own theory is that the perp got the bag out of their vehicle as quickly as possible for fear that Sierra had a GPS locator with geographical limits programmed into it. Those GPS locators are now so common, you can buy them at Wal-Mart.

As for the cellphone, I think LE wanted to wait a day or two before getting the subpoena for her cellphone ping records, just in case she was a voluntary runaway. If LE immediately subpoena'ed cellphone ping records for every single teen who is missing for a day, the cell companies would be deluged with subpoenas.

Even if the cellphone only pinged off a single tower, that's usually enough to show movement over a distance of a half mile or so (sometimes less).

Again, I think that if the cellphone pings had suggested any sort of movement beyond the field where it was found (less than half a mile from Sierra's home), LE would have made a general call for security footage.

They haven't.

Right, another reason I doubt this was a neighbor. I am kind of stuck on her leaving with someone on purpose and now, not sure if she is staying away on purpose or out of fear or coming back, or if she can't come back. I think she did get right into a car or truck at the place where the dogs lost her. But the whole thing with her bag and phone is weird-did they "turn" on her at once? Or was it, as someone suggested, some girls, who taunted her by tossing out her things? Who knows...hope it is all known soon, or at least, at some point.

I believe the cell phone was disposed immediately and the purse just followed along the route they were going. An attacker would get rid of the phone due to all the coverage they give on the pings these days, and also as its her only form of getting help. I think the purse could be even removed immediately due to him/her being worried that SL could have had a weapon or mace. I can say from experience my purse/bag was of immediate interest to the perp.

I can envision a scenario where she thinks she wants to go somewhere, to get away from something. I do think that some of her Tumbler stuff could be interpreted this way. That doesn't mean she doesn't love her family, just that something in her situation is wrong. Maybe someone agrees to help facilitate that ... brings a change of clothes, even ... a way to start fresh. But maybe that person envisions himself (???) as part of that fresh start, and then she ends up confined by that person. In that event, tossing her phone and purse might have been staged—to look like a random abduction, even.

I know it is routine, but it is frustrating when LE says LD tests were taken but won't talk about results...:(

iirc, LE did not reveal the location of the bag even to say on which side of the street it was found. Do I have that right?

Suppose it was found on the opposite side from where her cell phone was discovered.

If so, it could have been tossed later, even much later. Instead of trying to figure how fast an undressing might have occurred, consider another path: Toss cell now for obvious reasons, then toss the bag later after 'whatever' had occurred, on a return trip.

Evidence left for a reason?

Santa Cruz County deputies on Sunday investigated a possible sighting of Sierra LaMar, after a witness called 911 to report seeing a teen hitchhiking on Holohan Road that looked like the missing 15-year-old Morgan Hill girl, authorities said.

The witness reported that the girl had backpacks with her and was near the intersection of East Lake Avenue when she got into a black truck, sheriff's Lt. Bob Pursley said.

Holohan Road how far is that from Morgan Hill? "A fruit stand" Could this even be a possible scenario considering the time that has passed from the day she was accounted missing?

Holohan Road is the cross-street for East Lake (which turns into the two lane highway 152) that winds over Hecker Pass and into Gilroy/Highway 101. The fruit stand is actually a rather large, covered, year-round stand thats been there at LEAST since I was a kid so nearly four decades. If you stay on Holohan it turns into Airport Blvd which takes you to Highway One (at which point you're either headed to Santa Cruz to the North or Monterey to the South).

I would take this one with a grain of salt...Sierra looks like 90 percent of 15 year olds in Watsonville. I was born in Watsonville....it's gone downhill in a big way...tons of crime, gangs. The Mayor declared Watsonville a 'safe haven' for illegal immigrants a few years back...it's literally the armpit of Santa Cruz County.

Remember the family and boyfriend are not POI so they must have passed it.

Are you getting tired of saying that yet?

I think traffickers usually prey on kids who are not likely to be missed. Runaways, kids with substance abuse problems, throwaway kids, etc.

The last thing a trafficker wants is to have a girl on his hands that people are actively looking for. Too many better and lower risk targets in the world.

Actually, a girl of about Sierra's age went missing a year or two ago up in my neck of the woods (near Sacramento). She was at a dance and met up with a guy she knew online. It's all been rather hushed-up in our community but evidently she was kidnapped and found in Santa Clara County having been prostituted. There's now a lot of human trafficking fundraising going on here. (We've only lived here for about six months so I don't have all the info) but the girl was said to come from a good family, no drugs, into sports and activities. Freaked me out. I have kids and let me tell you, at this point, my girls are being driven to the bus stop and I wait until I see them get on before I leave. They are instructed to text me the minute their bus reaches our subdivision and I arrange for them to be met by me, my husband or another trusted adult. Scares the living daylights outta me.
