I must be losing my mind but I find myself having some sympathy for them, seeing as they dropped her off safely. I know that is silly to give them any credit, but after such horrible cases like Jennifer Ridgeway, I find myself almost thanking people for not killing their victims. :cry:

Regarding the little girl's memory, this is following the same pattern as the little girl who was abducted from her classroom in Philadelphia a few months ago. She would be interviewed, then they'd give her some time to rest etc, then a few days or weeks later, interview again, and it took a long time for her to give more and more details. She was also badly traumatized. The great thing was that over time, she was able to give enough specific details, that they were able to find the house she was taken to, and there's been one arrest so far, and there are up to 3 more suspects they're looking at. The case is going to a grand jury. So I have great hopes for this case too. They use forensic specialists who work with children on these cases, and they're very careful with the children because of their emotional state. These little ones are very brave, and very helpful to LE. :heartbeat:

The ONLY thing we know is one is 18 years old, right? That's so weird to me. No mention of race, hair color, tattoos, facial hair, size...but a guesstimate that he's 18. Huh?!

Your post brought up an interesting thought that just occurred to me: Why aren't they giving an age range? They are very specific/sure that he's 18 years old. Now, I'm in my 30s and there's no way I would be able to look at a kid nowadays and be able to pinpoint their age with such specificity without hedging my bet a year or two in either direction ... which brings me to my point: The only way a 10-year-old can be so certain of someone's age is if they are associated with someone the little girl already knows who is that same age. So I'm going to assume that the little girl has an 18-year-old brother or cousin?? And they have 18-year-old friends who could possibly have threatened her before dumping her off, and that's why she's telling LE she doesn't know who they are and that's why there is such a police presence guarding her in her home for the "foreseeable future."

They said approximately 18.

In one of the videos where the brother and the aunt are getting into a car shortly after she was found they say her brother is 13.

In one of the news videos today they said the police presence at the home is to protect her privacy (I'm assuming from media) and they expect them to leave by the end of the weekend.

Sorry I didn't bookmark either video, so I will just have to say IMO unless I find them again.

OK ya'll, after reading through all of the pages in the thread, i'm ready to post. lol. i just hope i can remember everything i wanted to touch base on.

first, many were questioning the gang unit that was brought in. i have a couple of different thoughts on this. growing up in southern california, i knew many many gang members and plenty of them were white, in mostly hispanic gangs, so it's not so surprising to me. but what does stick out in my head is having gang motivation to sexually harm a child, whether it's initiation, or some other sinister desire. if this was a gang initiation thing, i don't see the perps being over the age of 18/adults because in prison, there is NO LOVE for child predators. NONE, even for gang members. however, if the gang members were also minors, this wouldn't be a problem. (i'll say now, i do realize that gangs are involved in trafficking.... but IMO, those are entirely different kinds of gangs, and the chances of those who run them being arrested seem so slim to me, so they're not afraid of dealing with the consequences of prison).

what this seems like to me is a couple of small time criminals who are looking to take it up a notch. they seem very inexperienced to me. they took this sweet girl to multiple locations, used multiple vehicles, were out and about during daylight in locations where video cameras are very much present, and wearing a PINK shirt. ??!?! either they're trying to play games with LE, or they really just have no idea what they're doing and how easy they're making it for themselves to be caught. i'm leaning towards the latter because LE has already found one of the vehicles. these perps probably have experience in breaking into homes, etc... which is how they knew about the abandoned home they took sweet girl to. (they may have even broken into her home before when no one was home, but it was never realized) it sounds to me like they wanted to take the next step in the criminal world, but not the full leap into murderer world. this was probably their first kidnapping. (MOO tho)

one thing that has stuck out to me. they haven't given ANY info on the second perp. my guess is, they have an idea about them, but all that has been released is that this perp was "also male". they haven't said it was another "man". could it have been a younger boy? maybe they don't want to release more than they have released because they believe it's a minor? i'm not sure how this type of thing would be handled. if the second perp is a minor, then perhaps the gang thing COULD come into play, and maybe the older perp was just assisting? thinking out loud here.

don't storage facilities usually have pretty good surveillance? i'd like more info on how they are managed. is anyone and everyone free to come and go at all hours of the day and night? are there strolling security guards? i wouldn't think that there would be a ton of people at these facilities at any one point in the day or night (unless they were there for a storage auction, of course).

one more thing about the age that's been released about the 18 year old. perhaps sweet girl heard the two perps talking and one said "i'm 18, i could do a lot of time for this", etc etc. my guess is, it's either something like that, or LE is on to them and know who the perp is, so they know his age too. for an 18 year old to have access to multiple cars? my guess is, the cars are stolen. at least one of them anyway.

Seems to me if they found a black truck at the storage facility that they're pretty sure was used by the perps, that they'd also have located the storage room that was used (by now). With more clues found there, you'd think.

Wonder why we haven't heard more about that?

ETA: We have a redhead. Gorgeous, and utterly unexpected. (And, yes, I think the identity factor is probably strong, here--at least in my case.)

At this stage of the investigation, I think anything's possible. But I keep thinking back to how confused she seemed when found. And keep thinking about how there is a certain drug out there that guys sometimes get hold of and use illegally, that virtually wipes away all memory of an 'encounter.' Her descriptions are SO vague, it makes me wonder if she weren't drugged.

ETA: On second thought, though, I'm not sure she'd remember being taken to different locations and the two different vehicles used if drugged...so I'm not sure about the drugging, thing. Maybe more likely blindfolding and trauma contributing to vague descriptions.

makes sense. they're trying to figure out how she was "lured" to leave her house with them. maybe they drugged her first and waited. I think that drug works fast.
it would also explain why she didn't go into the hospital. being confused, or not knowing what happened to her, she might not have realized she was supposed to go in.
as much as I hope she had no awareness of the attack, I know these things get stored in the body and emotions, and it's better for her to have a clear memory and deal with it than to live with the unconscious defense mechanisms that result from repressed trauma.

i think it's definitely a possibility. seeing how haphazard this whole thing seems, i could see the perps thinking they could probably do something like that and get away with it. i just don't know if they'd really know how to actually get money in their hands for it... unless they have a friend or relative that could lead them in the right direction.
