I think their major asset was the business. IMO BS would draw his wealth out of the profits, as he needed it, along with funds for the foundation that funded charities (which was probably managed to reduce taxes.)

I think it unlikely he, at some point, withdrew a few hundred milions from the business and put it to just sit in a bank account for his potential future use, nor would he be all that likely to invest in something other his own company.

My question is, would he have made a will leaving the business to Honey? I'm not sure that he would.

People do it all the time.

His wealth would not only come from profits but from equity.

He invested in his son's business, Frank D'Angelo, his brother in law and other business so it was in fact entirely likely.

I'm sure he had significant holdings outside of Apotex.

Interesting that this is not the first time a psychic has been mentioned wrt giving tips in this case, imo.

Judge in Barry and Honey Sherman murder probe keeps police records sealed | The Star
"Court was told last week that Pringle sealed all the material and, each time detectives execute a warrant or production order, the “entity” ordered to produce the information also receives an order from Pringle forbidding them to tell the “owner” of the records that police are snooping around. An entity could be a bank, cellular phone company, or even an automotive company that stores GPS locational information, court heard."
...........
"Court heard that among the tips that have come into the tip line following the Sherman children's’ offer of a $10-million reward was at least one tip provided by a psychic. Court heard that 343 tips have been passed on to police by the Sherman children’s private team as of last July. The Toronto homicide squad officers review all of this private information, court heard. No tips have been provided to police in the last three months, court heard."

“... Yim said none of the information can be released at this stage of the case because detectives do not know which parts could harm the probe if made public...” Rbbm

This statement says to me that LE is gathering evidence, but they don’t have a real, legitimate suspect. If LE has identified a potential particular suspect they would know exactly how the disclosure of information would impact that party.
Jmo- it’s getting tiring always guessing at things or inferring or speculating in this case based on having minimal to no public information. There appears to be one set of special rules for the Shermans.

This isn't special rules for the Shermans. When the police want the evidence related to their warrants in an ongoing murder investigation sealed it is almost always going to happen. And they are always going to cast their net as wide as possible.

Thanks. I wasn't just referring to the warrant sealing issue, but to the entirety of the investigation, including having the Mayor talk to the families on LE's behalf; having the original coroner attend a second autopsy; convincing the coroner's office to declare a M/M; spending 6 weeks inside the house (unprecedented given LE's and the union's own announcements regarding the apparent shortage of manpower available to deal with crimes, let alone engage in crime prevention and/or community outreach ; etc etc etc.

What if it was not about the money? What if somebody was wealthy enough, in their own mind, or were not in-line to get any money from the Shermans anyways, who was angry enough at them to kill them?

Some of us are thinking that money and the estate were the motivators to the killings, and tend to look at family or friends who may have felt they would benefit financially from the deaths of the Shermans. That makes a lot of sense, but what if this was an exception to the usual pattern of murder?

Of course that’s possible. IMO it would seemingly sure take a lot of hatred for someone to actually murder them or have them murdered. Financial motivations seem to me to be the most obvious. I hope LE is following all leads or theories, although given that the police seemingly would have been prepared to take the “easiest road” - m/s - one wonders how much diligence they are applying to the ongoing investigation in terms of conducting a wide ranging search for motive and suspects. I have found more of the book online- another chapter or so. To access it, go to the link above and then press the following on your screen as the links come up

What I found- The delay in calling police for over an hour is not explained. But police and first responders were dispatched within 2 minutes of receiving the call. The bodies were found with no vital signs. First responders did nothing to avoid disrupting the crime scene, as their priority was to get to the bodies ASAP. The Sherman’s had been dead for more than a day when found, rigor Mortis had passed. Two daughters were in Toronto. Either the remaining daughter or js was in Mexico when the bodies were found- the book isn’t specific as to which one was in Mexico.

I followed your instructions to i books but didn't see an option for "Sample". Is it just me?

No option for any samples for me either.

That strange. After I press iBooks I get a page that loads that has buttons that say

Sorry for the confusion for those that can’t access. I can’t cut and paste the book excerpt.

There is an excerpt today, but it’s behind the paywall
Barry and Honey Sherman: how the second autopsy revealed it was a double murder | The Star
"The attackers could have injured Honey Sherman, for example, and for some reason not hit Barry Sherman. As some of the private team speculated, perhaps attackers had demanded something from Barry and beaten Honey to try to convince him. The fatal flaw in that theory was that the wound to Honey’s face occurred either immediately before or after death, as no bruise formed.

When Chiasson and the private detectives reported their findings to Greenspan, the conclusion was this: it was a professional hit. Some person or persons had murdered both Shermans in a deliberate and apparently professional attack, then had staged the bodies to make it look like they had killed themselves, or like one had killed the other"

Thanks dotr. I paid the fee to subscribe, but the story didn’t really tell us imo what really swayed the police to proclaim it a double murder. No conclusive info regarding whether their wrists were bound at some point (in fact the article seems to raise the possibility that these could be old markings on the wrists), and also no conclusion or definitive answer re what was used to cause the ligature neck compression- the belts or something else?

Turns out The Sherman’s house had been broken into within 2 years of the deaths, through a skylight. That may be why police were on the roof. Numerous breaking had occurred in the neighbourhood within a few years of the deaths.

Finally, my impression of the original pathologist based on the article was that he seemed relatively inexperienced. Did you get the same impression?
