Hi all. My first post ever on WS. I've read up somwhat on this and don't know much about these poor folks but I still just don't buy anyone staging a death in this manner. As its been stated-who wouldwant their kids to find thier mother like that? I'm pretty sure it was a double murder by pros. So sad for the family.!

Welcome! Where are you from? Just kidding...I like the flag. :)

I’m trying to recall Barry Sherman’s good points. Maybe we aren’t meant to speak ill of the dead, but I think he comes across as a bully and totally arrogant.
He corrects peoples grammar, is rude to visitors in his home, sues anyone he feels like, whether he is right or wrong. I wonder how many people actually liked him. I can’t imagine women liking him or enjoying his company.

I’d love someone to list his good points, apart from his philanthropy.

BS was brilliant. They think differently than us average Joe’s. Their contribution to the sciences are often a gift to us all. BS contributed by ensuring big pharma didn’t have an economic stronghold on us as they often do so he created an economical alternative. The brilliantly gifted individuals like BS often operate on a different plane than most of us & contribute to society in various ways, therefore I recommend judicial thought before casting judgement.

Well, just my opinion but I believe they were murdered. I think they were chloroformed, then strangled and hung (IF its a fact) onto the railing.

I think it happened after the meeting with the architect, as they were coming into the house.

Once the toxicology results are in, I believe they will find a drug, possibly chloroform, was used to incapacitate them.

I believe Barry was the target, Honey may or may not have been or she may have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Thats why they had 'jackets' on and they didn't even see it coming......attacked from behind IMO.

There are hundreds of questions surrounding this case, some may never get answered.

As I say, just my opinion.

Good point. I think you're absolutely right about him.

I have a feeling I wouldn't enjoy his company....and I have a feeling he wouldn't care! :)

I've been following the discussion on here for a while but just made an account to join the community!

FWIW, my dad worked at Apotex and only left the company a few months ago. He had regular interactions with Barry over the years and had nothing but good things to say about him. He would sit around with employees in the cafeteria and have lunch with them. He'd have conversations with the cleaning staff. He worked long hours and according to my dad, would spend his entire work day in the lab (my dad, also a workaholic would often stay late and Barry, even later than him most days). Definitely frugal - my dad & I joked about how the man is sitting on billions but refuses to get rid of the rust on the side of his beat-up silver Mustang. He finally got rid of the rust this summer! My dad is 100% set on this being a double-murder, says he wouldn't be surprised if it was someone from Apotex.. the higher-ups weren't happy that Barry was sitting on all this money and refused to go public. I'm on the fence. I think we can't rule anything out, really. We don't know what really went on in their lives and what happened inside that house. Murder-suicide is still very much a possibility. JMO.

Welcome! Yes, one of the first questions in the business sector was will Apotex go public.

Please google 'Canadians pay too much for generic drugs'. We are still in an economic stronghold, its just a less potent drug. JMO
There are plenty of articles about how Canadians pay almost 20% more than the worldwide market for the same generic drugs.

Not casting judgement, there are other generic drug companies but it may speak to motive. JMO

Dear Hodgepodge,

Thank you for your insightful and compassionate post! Greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Websleuths.

Many businessmen put the family home in their wife's name so that, if they or the business are sued or run into financial problems, that asset at least will be protected. This would be especially applicable to Barry, since he was more litigious than most, so having the house in Honey's name is to be expected.

This has been discussed before. It is just common sense really. :)

I think you might have to be a verified user to make some of these points. Might want to check with a mod. But, welcome to the discussion.

No, I'm saying that the police have already released their findings. They called this a murder suicide.

There is absolutely nothing to support a theory of double murder, so there's no reason to run down rabbit holes.

I'm not aware of anyone genuinely claiming to be falsely imprisoned in Canada. Can you offer a name of someone who claims to have been falsely imprisoned last year, or maybe, let's say, the last five years. I don't mean every person in the prison system, I mean someone who may legitimately be falsely imprisoned in Canada and where there are legal documents to read.

With all due respect, the police made that pronouncement before there was time for any evidence to be processed. IMO
