The mother of missing Hamilton woman Emily Bailey is hoping a nightmare that’s gone on for more than a year may finally be coming to an end.Hamilton police say they’ve investigated extensively but don’t know where Bailey is and are now treating the investigation as a homicide.Lori Bevan spoke to CHCH News Tuesday about the anguish that followed the disappearance of her daughter and her struggle with the possibility that Bailey may not be coming home.Bevan said no parent should have to go through what she and her family have endured.“I’m losing hope. Every day those tears come more and more and the thoughts, and in 18 months nobody should have the thoughts like a parent should never have the thoughts of where their child is,” Bevan said.Bailey hasn’t been seen since January 1, 2022. She reportedly left her home on New Year’s Day and disappeared. She was 23 at the time and has two young daughters.Police said they’re now asking the Hamilton Police Board to approve a $20,000 reward for information. In their submission to the board, Police Chief Frank Bergen said investigators believe Bailey was murdered. He said they “believe there are individuals with knowledge of what happened to Emily Bailey and the location of her remains.”Police said they hope the reward money would provide an incentive for someone with intimate knowledge to come forward to help solve this murder.Bevan is struggling with the thought that her daughter may have been murdered … or may come home.“I go down to the beach, the lake, thinking ‘are you in there?’ What a horrible thing to have to think of,” Bevan said.“I had to tell her five-year-old yesterday that there’s a possibility mommy’s not coming back. And she was just so upset.”Bevan said she’s convinced somebody knows something about where Bailey is and hopes a reward could help.''

interesting! did anybody ask why they chose the location?
im also more interested to know WHO made the end decision for the location.
The location is just a large, historic well known public park in Hamilton. It’s a go to spot to organize such a thing

I agree.

IMO it seems highly likely that someone must have information regarding Emily's disappearance. If so, I'm wondering who has this information and why they haven't provided it to local LE.

Has anyone talked to Emily’s ex boyfriend or the father of her kids? Maybe they know something or maybe someone who was at the party on New Years Eve knows something

IIRC a close friend of Emily's indicated in a podcast last year that the only people at this New Years Eve 'party' were probably Emily and the man she was seeing at the time. The cab driver reported driving them both to his home on Weir St. that night. AFAIK, there have been no reports of other people at this 'party'.

''Almost a year and a half after her disappearance, a photo of a dog laying on grass with a stick in its mouth was posted on Bailey’s TikTok account. The song “Cupid” by the South Korean girl group Fifty Fifty is also playing.

Police told CHCH News that investigators believe her account was hacked
. Officers have contacted TikTok in order to receive information about the origin of the post.
“This requires judicial authorization and will take time and investigative follow-up,” a police spokesperson said in an email to CHCH News.
Anyone with information on Bailey’s disappearance is asked to contact investigators at 905-546-4863.''

'I felt numb,' says mom of missing Hamilton woman, after post appears on her TikTok account

Bailey, a mother of two young girls, would now be 24 years old. She was last seen on New Year's Day 2022 at the Weir Street North home where she was staying with her boyfriend, in Hamilton's east end. Police reclassified the case from "missing person" to "homicide" in March, and searched the Weir Street home in July, but haven't provided much information to the public on the investigation.

Investigators seek reward to aid in locating missing Ontario woman’s remains

A recommendation report reveals the homicide unit has “exhausted many investigative avenues” in a search for a body and identity of the person or persons responsible.

“Unfortunately, based on the evidence, investigators believe Emily Bailey was murdered and her body subsequently disposed of,” it reads.

Despite numerous interviews, homicide detectives say little has come out of them, stating that there have only been a “limited number of people willing” to provide information on the case.

Whatever happened to her phone? I don't recall seeing one mention of anything abt her phone, not even whether she had it with her when she went missing or not!

And did LE return JJ's dark colored truck to him after they impounded it? If they had enough reason to take his truck, seems they'd have reason to at least name him as a POI.

Am I correct in remembering that JJ is Emily's friend Nikki's boyfriend's brother? That sounded confusing! I think Emily's friend Nikki has a boyfriend, and JJ is that bf's brother. And both JJ and his brother had dark colored trucks. LE impounded JJ's. Maybe that was for something unrelated, but I thought it was due to Emily's disappearance. Did we ever hear what came of a search of his truck, if anything?

I wonder if they were able to examine JJ's phone. IIRC, Emily's ex, who she was still friends with, said he saw a "stack" of cell phones at JJ's home, when he went there to look for Emily around the time he reported her missing. Wonder if LE ever saw these phones.

Regarding the TT post made recently to Emily's account, don't they have location info on that post? And whose dog is in the picture?

Emily had another ex, possibly the father of her younger child? Emily's friend Nikki reported that he was "very physical"... I have to assume she's implying some level of DV with him when he was with Emily. I don't remember hearing anything about him in relation to her disappearance, such as if they searched his place or not, or even questioned him. I have never even seen his name or initials. Hope he's not been overlooked in all this. The report of DV is of course concerning.

Wonder what Nikki's boyfriend knows. His brother JJ could very well have confided something to him, if there is anything. Also Nikki herself may have heard some secret/s, and be torn between being loyal to her friend Emily and not wanting to ruin her relationship w/her bf. Seems like we may have stopped hearing anything from Nikki after those initial interviews.

@sunspun : Those are excellent questions. AFAIK we have no case insiders here on WS and LE/MSM haven't addressed many of these. It's been a while since I went through Emily's case in detail so hopefully I recall these events properly.

I do not recall any LE/MSM reports regarding the whereabouts of Emily's phone or what became of it. I would expect LE has information regarding her phone data and usage, but so far I've seen no confirmation of that.

IIRC, Emily's ex, who she was still friends with, said he saw a "stack" of cell phones at JJ's home, when he went there to look for Emily around the time he reported her missing. Wonder if LE ever saw these phones.
Per the podcasts linked earlier in the thread, this is my understanding as well. I do not recall seeing any MSM reports that LE examined those phones or who they may have belonged to. It's not clear whether Emily's phone was among the "stack of phones" there, AFAIK.

This is another of those loose ends that was brought up after Emily's disappearance, but AFAIK it wasn't mentioned by LE related to her disappearance. I would hope LE located and interviewed this person, but as with many facets of this case, it's unclear whether this happened or not.

Wonder what Nikki's boyfriend knows. His brother JJ could very well have confided something to him, if there is anything. Also Nikki herself may have heard some secret/s, and be torn between being loyal to her friend Emily and not wanting to ruin her relationship w/her bf. I often wonder the same thing. MOO, but it seems like she is one of the few people willing to come forward with specific information and details regarding Emily's disappearance. Per the podcast, she's one of the last people to have seen and spoken with Emily, so her contributions to this case are crucial IMO.

Unfortunately I've not found any recent updates in MSM regarding Emily's disappearance.

''Bailey, a mother of two young girls, was last seen on Jan. 1, 2022, at a home in Hamilton's east end where she was staying with her boyfriend. She was 23 years old when she disappeared and her friends said she had recently told them she was pregnant.''
''In the new report, Det. Sgt. Sara Beck — the lead investigator on the case — says the unit "has been continuously investigating the disappearance of Emily Bailey" but is running out of "investigative avenues in [the] effort to locate her body and identify the individual(s) responsible.''

"Sara Beck … indicated to us that they were moving along on that case," he said. "In a situation like that, we back off. We usually focus on cases that have gone cold… I believe when she says, 'Yes, this is a very active investigation.'"
