Yes, you could be right. We never heard a missing person report pertaining to his companion, so perhaps the companion made his or her plans known to family. Had the two of them gone missing in Algonquin Park, then surely there would also be searches for the second person.

They had several shots of his car from the passengers side--the police equipment that should have been able to see if there was another person at the car at the time of the video.

Prefacing with this: It's been pointed out to me by a poster that the reports we get through the Korean news outlets are to be considered rumor. But, lacking any other word on what's going on in the investigation, I offer this for your consideration--or not.

So, from the article:
It says Eugene's father and son will go on a search in the Muskoka - Algonquin area again this weekend.
York Regional Police detective Patrick Brown said the York police are still investigating, but it also says, "We are waiting for the citizens to actively report."

Yet, on the Find Eugene FB page, there is no mention of a formal search for this weekend. There's only a lovely cake-cutting photo from his wedding, with the statement under it to pray and keep him in your thoughts this weekend.

Above, someone posted an article stating it was confirmed he made a call at 4:30 pm around the North Bay, and confirmed he bought the ticket. Then it says they find no forward movement from there.

He did not ever enter the park that they could find, and also not seen reversing away from it? Is it possible to enter the park undetected in any locations?

Even if the family was silent, wouldn't LE let the public know they had found his car so people would stop looking for it? I don't think they know where he or his car is yet.

I think his car is hidden, maybe in a garage or storage unit somewhere, or even possibly somewhere inside the park. That same location may have also been storing a kayak or canoe, thus not requiring him to rent one. He wouldn't want to carry a filled canoe very far, so I'd think the hidden location is relatively close to the water, more or less. jmo

Yes, in one of the original reports, he actually talked to his wife at 4:30pm saying he would be home late as the 'big' business deal was supposed to get done soon. That was the last they actually talked.

Signed for a permit at 5:00 pm

Around 9:30 pm there was a text of 'The deal is done. I'll be home in an hour' (since he was in the North Bay/Agonquin area, it is impossible to get back to his house in an hour. It is 3 hrs)

So I assume she texted him around 11:00pm since she probably gave him about 1.5 hrs. Which prompted his next response:

At 11:22 pm, he texted to say "I can't talk now"

Now for those whom haven't been to this park,a highway goes straight through the park. Basically the entrance is on the highway similar to driving through and through State lines. You don't even really know since you're driving through with trees on both sides and it says "Welcome to Agonquin Park". You don't need a permit to drive through.

However, about a 3-5 minute driving 'into the park, there is a small chalet type building where you can buy permits for a day pass or camping permit to camp overnight on a specific site. The sites and various parking for day activities are off this main highway. Nobody is checking for permits on that highway or getting into any parking lot. it's more for if you pull out of the highway and park your car at the various designated spot, you have to have the right permit on your dash. So it's very difficult to know where he went after. It seems like they don't really have any cameras set up.

So the neighbour last saw him around 10:30. Maybe left the house around 11:30pm to 12 pm. With traffic, likely got there around 3:30-4pm. Or even the 4:30 when he texted his wife.

My hunch is he was waiting for somebody for a bit, to go into the park to do whatever business it was.

It makes no sense to me though.

This is assuming he drove deliberately to North Bay/Algonquin to conduct this "transaction" that might have 'gone wrong'.

Why Algonquin? Why not somewhere else? A parking lot? A diner? A coffee shop? a hotel/motel? Someone's house?

He drove there because none of this happened. He drove there to evade everybody.

In my humble opinion, Eugene is gone. He drove so far off the map (probably wasn't even necessary), or made us THINK he drove there. He could be right under our noses.

But I don't personally believe he's alive TBH, and by his own hand.

IMOO.

Is this the area they will be searching? I wonder why Muskoka?

I wonder why Muskoka too! If he bought the permit then backtracked to Muskoka, maybe they figured out that's where the phone pinged during one of the later calls. They should be able to verify some of his travel, as the roads have tolls. (the 5 hourstravel time in this image includes backtracking to Muskoka from Algonquin Park)

I find it interesting that the partner of EK repeatedly displays symbols of love and marriage. I think they hope he just ran off with another woman.

It’s been long enough now, without any word from the family or the police that I believe information has come forward to them about the case. THe silence leads me to believe they discovered, perhaps, less than flattering information about Eugene or that they’ve come to suspect it is suicide and are keeping quiet until the body is found. If this case was still as dry as it was when he went missing, they’d still be making public pleas and speaking to the media. Both the family and the police.

This is what I suspect, too.

Muskoka to Algonquin covers a huge area. Maybe their plan is to talk to local businesses to see if he is recognizable to employees, etc? I do hope the family gets some resolution to this. I feel terrible for them. If they did find out less than flattering info, they still deserve to know where he is. I can't imagine trying to comfort the children and answer questions if you don't know where he is. :(

Muskoka covers a large area including the western border of Algonquin Park. Gravenhurst is considered the gateway into the Muskoka region which spans 6,475 km2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_Municipality_of_Muskoka

In this case, a map is not helpful and it leads to confusing ideas. The Muskoka District is HUGE. The city of Huntsville, seen on the map, is within the Muskoka District. I'm not sure where the toll idea came from, since there are no tolls on the route from Markham to North Bay.

Attached is a map showing the Muskoka District. http://explorersedge.ca/directions/maps-and-directions/

The only toll would be the short route shown in blue on the 407. No other roads have tolls in that area.

I suspect a gambling debt. Just looking back to one of his previous tweets in 2014:

Yes there is that option, but it's just about as quick to just head north out of Markham and avoid the 407ETR.

Not saying this is related, but a body was found in a river in Toronto.

Toronto police find body in ravine near Black Creek
Police say the death is being treated as suspicious

Toronto police say a body has been found in a ravine near Black Creek in North York.
Const. David Hopkinson, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service, said the death is being treated as suspicious. He said the nearest intersection to the discovery of the body is Finch Avenue West and Sentinel Road.
Police said a passerby spotted the body and they received a call about it at 8:53 a.m.
Staff Sgt. Warren Young, of 31 Division, said the body was found in a ravine off Derrydown Road near Conamore Crescent.
He declined to say if any signs of trauma were seen on the body. The age and sex of the victim has not been released.

Next of kin have not yet been notified.

:( It will be sad news for someone's family.

I just got a notice on my Facebook page from Moose FM that they are closed HWY 60 through Algonquin Park. From the MTO site: CLOSED AT ALGONQUIN PARK WEST ENTRANCE GATE TO EAST ENTRANCE GATE - ALGONQUIN PARK. UPDATED OCTOBER 21ST, 2017 AT 1800HRS. It doesn't indicate why and Moose FM said they didn't know why and for how long the closure is in effect. MTO site: http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/traveller/trip/road_closures.shtml Just noticed it said reason: collision.
