Ugh. Well if he wanted to disappear from his current life, surely he would still be communicating with his older kids. I hope LE are keeping tabs on that so that if he did return to his home country to escape his current life for whatever reason, at least people won't be wondering what happened to him. I'm not sure if I'm looking at his correct FB page, because I'm not seeing many pics or posts that have much to do with his present life with family.
Thanks for your posts crazyladi!

http://www.thespec.com/news-story/5215696-foul-play-suspected-in-burlington-man-s-disappearance/

On Friday, Det. Sgt. John Mans with Halton police homicide squad said six investigators have been assigned to the case full time and the 50-year-old's disappearance is being treated as suspicious.

"We can't help but to suspect, at this stage, foul play. We're proceeding on those grounds," Mans said.

"Looking at all the analytical work with respect to the phone data, financial data that we've been able to get our hands on, the witness statements that we've taken… there's nothing to indicate he's done this himself."

" Mans said there may be facts police are not aware of and encourage anyone with information, even if they feel it may be insignificant, to contact investigators.

“We would prefer that anyone that thinks they have something, no matter how small it is, to contact us and allow us to add that to the rest of the pieces we have,” Mans said.

“It may seem insignificant to them, but it may be the last piece of the puzzle we need to provide us with the right answer and the right direction.”

That looks like some gawdawful Google translation. I could probably make more sense of the original Latvian. I suspect "immature" just refers to her young age.

Yeah, that was a bit of a tough read JayFriend:laughing:

My eyebrows shot up when I saw the "military", but further reading would seem to indicate they meant LE. IF there was a military connection, that might be interesting.

I wonder what the significance of the "Separatist Street" sign is in this profile pic on JO's linkedin:

http://ca.linkedin.com/pub/janis-ozollapa/28/214/42a

JO was last seen leaving work on a restoration job on Weeping Willow Drive in Oakville. Did his company Oak Leaf have employees and was his business lucrative, or was he having financial difficulties? Thinking of a case from a few years ago in the USA (sorry, memory is failing with sooo many cases over time .. can see the faces but can't think of the names/thread) where a couple and their son disappeared and a couple of the husband's employees were ultimately charged in relation to the family's disappearance).

ETA: JO was a self-employed contractor, but I'm not seeing much online about his business (other than he owned it, but no reviews, complaints, general articles, etc)

Did JO get paid (partially or in full) by the person he was doing renos for on Weeping Willow Drive? IF so, did someone know he was going to be paid?

What was the nature of his relationship with the person he was hired by to do the renos?

Mild observation ... JO drove a nice shiney black vehicle to/from the jobsite .. but it doesn't look like a work vehicle (i.e. very shortbox, not a lot of room for tools/equipment)

Really good points.

JO's company name was reported as being 'Oak Leaf Renovations'.

I couldn't find anything online regarding that business either (which is pretty odd, isn't it??), however i did find these listings on kijiji for 'OakLeaf Carpentry', located in tottenham, which is only less than half an hour's drive from Orangeville, where JO and his wife reportedly moved from only months before his disappearance.

The company 'Oak Leaf Renovations' seen on kijiji as above also has a FB page, showing a lot of photos of the company's work. The FB page has been posting since sometime in 2013. It doesn't appear to be related to JO's business, however it's odd to have such a similar name within such close proximity, basically running the same type of business, MOO.

I wonder what JO did before the couple moved to Burlington/Halton.. if renovations, why would he leave his area where he may have gained customers with referrals? His Linked-In profile says he has been doing the renos since 2011.

I wonder if the 'Separatist Street' sign was just a gesture in regard to this:

Also, that is a very good point about his truck. If he didn't have employees/workers, and he just operated on his own, then... I don't know, is that a great work truck in which to pickup supplies, drywall, wood, etc? Unless he always gets his supplies delivered... but.. if he operated within a larger area, that would cost a lot of money to have the supply company delivering... or he would need to have various accounts with different suppliers in different areas.

Another case where things seem to have stopped dead in their tracks, nobody is saying anything, nothing being reported, no pleas, no posters, no news, just gone. So weird.

Also says on his linkedin profile that he is ex-president of the "Latvian amputee standing hockey federation":

http://ca.linkedin.com/pub/janis-ozollapa/28/214/42a

I believe he may have switched the order of the words, i.e. google brings up "standing amputee hockey federation" (as compared to JO's wording of "amputee standing hockey federation"):

from:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...g-ice-hockey-latvia+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca

The fourth European Championships of the International Standing Amputee Hockey Federation (ISIHF) will be conducted at the Zemgale Ice Arena in Jelgava, Latvia, from 11-14 May 2011.

Just wondering what his background is with them and if there are any political issues as a result of his involvement.

deugirtni, where'd you see that JO used to live in Tottenham? I can't find anything on it. Thanks !!

Weeping Willow Drive looks like a decent neighbourhood, but not rife with multi-million dollar mansions. I wonder at what stage of completion the job was, and how much money it involved.

IF JO was anticipating partial or final payment, had he told others about it? Was there a cash deal, or if by cheque, was it payable to JO personally or did he have a business account? If it was deposited to a personal account, is the account in his name only or does someone else have access to the account ???

Sigh ... still more questions than answers.

I'm in the Baltic area right now. It's a heavy topic---some of the pro-Russian rebels fighting in Ukraine are Latvian.

...

Though I'm not completely familiar with the details yet, to me, this case seems to be connected to organised crime. Though Latvia is not generally viewed as a corrupt place, JO's photo emphasises his connection to Russia.

Just wondering what his background is with them and if there are any political issues as a result of his involvement.

Me too.

Wondering about that possible military connection...

Looks like someone hacked into his FB and Twitter on Feb 12th...did they find his iPhone?

I know everyone reacts differently and you don't know what you would do in someone elses shoes but I would be plastering it all over my facebook to have people help me find him. Maybe it is her personality not to react that way but even the friends when I read their posts everyone seems to have carried on. JMO

Craziladi I would encourage you to share everything you know with the police. Sometimes it's the smallest thing that can break open a case.

Looks like a spammer, nothing sinister, just annoying. If he was an iPhone Facebooker, then whoever got his phone could have sold his personal information.

Confused as to why media referring to wife as Patricia Rose? Her Facebook is under a different name?

I didn't catch that, but see it in a CBC report. Neither Rose or Harris is her married name. Maiden name? Former married name? Maybe it's her middle name.

That is really peculiar (I think??) that his FB got hacked.. some one reported it to police, and his wife then said this in response:

" Thanks everyone for the notifications and all the text messages. The cops are still one step ahead and they're on top of this. I love you all for being so vigilant.

It's good to know the cops are one step ahead at least!
