If it's not his kid and he's posting the pics on his page, he's even weirder than he seems. Comments along the lines of "he's growing up, Rob."
I wondered if that was the correct guy. I know it says he's from Calgary, but the little kid photos led me away from that page. JMO

Good questions otto!!! The answer may be here:

Composting and Mulching | UGA Cooperative Extension

Do you agree that adding mulch to bodies could decrease decomposition time because mulch heats the organic matter at night, mulch could absorb the smell of decomposition while feeding on the organic matter?

"The soil environment beneath the mulch is favorable for promoting earthworms, which in turn are valuable for aerating the soil. Organic matter is gradually added to the soil as the mulch decomposes. ...

Complete decomposition of the compost is not necessary when it is used as mulch. In fact, partially decomposed compost applied in fall will help keep the soil warmer in winter as it continues to heat during decomposition."

Are search teams using ... what's it called ... sonar? Heat sensing sonar - the red lens? Is that the correct term? If they are not, I think they might be wasting their time. Once they are down to internal organs or bones, I don't think it will help.

Ever since I heard they were looking in Bragg Creek, all I could think of was pit toilets...FWIW.

ETA :shudder:

Snipped...
...A few trails remain, pit toilets and pump water.

Outdoor Adventure

That's gruesome!
I guess the searchers better prepare themselves and dig deep.

I'm curious about the mulch. Why mulch? What does it have to do with decomposition? Bragg Creek is near the mountains and I'm guessing there is lots of forest debris. There must be a specific reason why he had mulch at the same time that they vanished.

Thankfully no fires were reported in that area. Mulch burns very easily and is the cause of many residential fires started by a discarded cigarette butt. But if fire happened to his intent, newly bought mulch it’s usually really moist.

Police said Saturday they are looking for a man in his mid-30s who was driving a grey Mercedes SUV in the areas of Bragg Creek, Elbow Falls, Priddis and east Kananaskis between April 16 and 20.”
Calgary police release vehicle description, suspend search due to snow in suspected double homicide

Elbow Falls, I don’t like to see that. All I can think of is how vast, empty and wooded it is out along Hwy 66, total wilderness, and too early for most campers to be out.

Hazardous winter conditions are expected.

A spring storm over central Alberta will bring snow and blowing snow into southern Alberta this evening.

In the wake of the cold front passing through this evening expect strong northerly winds gusting as high as 90 km/h. These will lead to reduced visibilities in blowing snow and will produce local whiteout conditions, especially in places such as the highway 2 corridor and sections of the Trans Canada highway near Calgary.

Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are expected with higher amounts near 30 cm possible along the foothills. Heavy snow will taper off overnight and into Sunday morning.

###

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm.

It could be because it’s been a very cold winter, even by AB standards—the ground in the foothills is likely still pretty solid not far beneath the surface. Couldn’t dig very deep. He doesn’t seem like the brightest bulb, so he might have thought mulch would do for coverage or throw off dogs.

Interesting he claims they were not in a relationship yet were intimate. Could that be the motive. She was not interested. Is he worried if she is found they may find his DNA. Did the wee one witness the murder?

If you check the current real estate listing photos and even Google street view of the condo, the fencing is exactly the same as in one photos of the little boy with red hair--May 24, 2018 profile pic.

I think he might have killed the child first--while watching her, which he claims. Mom came back to the townhouse and he figured the only way he had half a chance of not doing hard time was to take her out, too...

That's what I'm wondering. From my layman's understanding, mulch added to decomposing organic carbon material (like people), will not only heat the organic material at night but give off a smell that will repel animals except for nocturnal animals, like bunnies.

There's a reason that mulch was used. What is it? I hope police are taking that into consideration in their search for the bodies of 25 year old Jasmine Lovett and 22 month old Aliyah Sanderson by air in the Bragg Creek area and all along HWY 22 and Route 66.

I'm worried that it's going to be a farce like the search for the missing cowboy Ben Tyner in BC - that police and SAR teams will stumble around like bumbling goons and then in 3 months they'll say hey, maybe we should have tried harder. By then, I'm guessing, that with mulch, it will be too late. By the time they look for heat sources they will be so deteriorated they will no longer look like bodies.

Okay, let's suppose he killed the child on the evening of April 16, that Jasmine went out alone and left her daughter with her "landlord". If that's true, what did she do and who saw her that evening without her child? All we've heard is that her family normally hears from her every day and the last day that they heard from her was April 16. Did she fake it and go out alone that night? Why would she do that?

The only way to avoid doing hard time after the accidental death of a child is to call a lawyer, fess up, and take the second degree conviction of 10 years. There's no way that murdering a mother of a child after accidentally killing a child makes any sense. Accidentally murdering a child is maximum 10 years. Pre-meditated murder of the next of kin is 25 years. It's completely illogical - stupid beyond comprehension.

In another report, CPS commented about similarities to the murder of Sara Baillie and her daughter. Sara’s body was found stuffed in a clothes hamper in her home but the child was transported east of Calgary. She was found through cellphone tracking, perps phone. The trial occurred only a few months ago. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with it but if not the similarity might only pertain to a mother-young child connection, but in that case the perp was involved with drug dealing and pimping. The child was believed to have witnessed her mothers murder. Sara was not involved in prostitution but was best friends with the murderers girlfriend and the motive was revenge because Sara influenced her friend to not get involved in the business.

That JL didn’t seem to be employed as it was her family who noticed she was missing, I wonder what was her means of financial support. I also question why RL would select a young woman with a two year old as a tenant, then it moves into an intimate but non-relationship arrangement with the mother while he sometimes babysits.

I did. The townhouse is 2 bedroom, property tax value is 300k, sales are down, unemployment is up, the market is soft. I can't see facebook because I don't have an account. If another child lived at the property and escaped with his life, that's good. I hope his mother can shed light on how it works with the UK heavy mechanic who arrived in Canada in 2013.

How does he make his money?

He's simply claiming that although they had sex, and she may have told her sister-in-law that they were in a relationship, it was just sportsex - no strings attached.

Jasmine told the sister of the father of her child that she was in a new relationship, afterward contact between Jasmine and the father's sister stopped (several months ago). Was this an abusive situation where Jasmine was isolated from friends over a period of several months, or was she still working full time at Nexen or another oil company per her professional linkedin profile and everything in her life was normal?

Too lazy to dig. That means too lazy to go far from the parking lot or road.

Police are looking in Bragg Creek, but any pull-off anywhere on the way is possible, probably closer to home is more likely because he's thinking the sooner he gets rid of the bodies and stages a happy day in Bragg Creek, the better.

That's interesting! Will cold temperatures slow decomposition, will mulch still get warm at night?

I wonder if animals will find the bodies faster than people. Hopefully SAR won't be traipsing all over the place like pretend experts. I suspect that animals will find them first, and if SAR watches the animals, they will find the bodies ... but that's just a wild theory.

This is so much easier now that there is snow on the ground. I really hope SAR, RCMP and all other investigators look first and move second.

Either they think he left the bodies and then went back out with the mulch, or they think she was out of touch with family on the 16 but she wasn't murdered until the 20th?

What exactly happened here?

Elbow Falls is an easy explanation. The child went over the falls, the mother jumped in to save her, they both died. There's a reason why Robert Leeming can't use this explanation.
