Do you EVER want to get off the couch or have you become accustomed to the alienation and solitude?

I volunteer at an agency that helps young mother's. Many of them have gone through custody loss, addictions, abusive relationships, criminal charges, etc... The ones that get it together, spend years trying to get their kids back. Once a child is removed, the hoops one has to jump thorough are numerous. They need to show stability which includes holding a job for more than a year, attending various parenting classes, counseling, addictions treatment and staggered supervision.

While we don't know JRN'S history and struggles, it *appears* that she was making a valiant effort. Her family and friends are claiming publicly, that she was very excited and most willing to gain more time with her son. If she did leave on her own accord, there must be way more than what is being claimed, because it doesn't make sense that she would jump through all those hoops, only to bail the day before they paid off. One also has to ask, if she is the type of person that would willingly put her children through this whole ordeal. They must be very scared and confused. It would take a really messed up person to do that to one's own children.
Jump through what hoops though? Get a job? Live with an old guy? I don't see massive amounts of success, rather, what would be considered the bare minimum. Where was the child going to sleep? Would he have his own room? Two residences require two sets of clothes, toys, food etc.

He looks a little old for her, no? Unless he is this really great guy (who happens to primarily have strippers as friends), I don't see what would attract them. The question for me is, maybe he had feelings for her that were not reciprocated? Maybe he felt that after taking her in, giving her a home, driving her everywhere, that she owed him and when he tried to collect, tragedy struck.
I agree he is a little old for her......I cannot say what I really feel or think as I do not want a time out. I can definitely see it as he thinks she owes him after all he has helped her with.

My ego keeps me warm at night, goes for walks with me, holds my hand when I'm down, and is always there without question. I never feel alone!

Perhaps just getting a home where she could provide stable housing was a requirement? I would guarantee that one requirement was that the child had a seperate room. She obviously doesn't have much education, so her options were limited. I cannot imagine her making much money serving where she worked, especially if she worked the day shift. Alberta has laid off thousands of workers and the job situation is grim for many. With limited education and experience, jusy holding down a job like she did, would have been proof of some stability. It is reported that she never missed a shift and was a good employee. That is important - It shows that she has created stability in her life. I have no doubt that CFS made her jump through MANY hoops. As I stated, it is not easy to get them to agree to unsupervised access after having being supervised. She would have to possibly submit to random drug and alcohol testing, have letters of support, proof of employment for a long period of time, recommendations from the specific CFS worker, and a host of other conditions. I have a hard time believing that she went through all of that, and then bailed right before she was to be rewarded with the custody she sought.

"Self Sabotaging" was a great angle brought up by Krystine... and an all too common one...

...but so is young women in challenging lifestyles disappearing...

Untreated depression, unrelenting anxiety and known mental health disorders can be just as debilitating as serious addiction. Some are very practiced at covering it up, especially the socially gifted. Finding true understanding even among our loved ones is not always the reality, even in this year of "Having the Talk". Many still just want you to cheer up and smile, I would think especially if your world was small and revolved around working at a bar and grill.
It's possible that she was overwhelmed by her feelings or even tormented by her own thoughts that night and couldn't stand it another minute. I believe that was what happened to the young woman in St. John, NB that jellybean referred to.

Coincidence? A recent Calgary homicide led CPS to this guy:

"On Monday, April 20, 2015, Joshua Jayson Matechuk, 25, of Calgary, was arrested in a vehicle in northeast Calgary without incident. He was charged at that time with five firearms offences."

From the CPS Facebook page

Sleuthing the accused, he is ALSO from Quebec, close to where AP lived. Very small French community in Calgary... Also, the same age as AP.

One of Jessica's vocal male friend's is friends with one of JJM's "followers". This is the same friend who threw out accusations against her ex. KCR.

Indeed. The Fifth Estate piece detailed this, spoke to some of the girls, and highlighted many of the efforts of every day people trying to rescue them. It's quite shocking to think it's right outside your door.

The Calgary Herald piece is shocking in that it highlights that a market does indeed exist for underaged, non-consenting girls providing sex services, here in Canada. That part makes me cringe.

The article also says most are between 15-18, with a few as old as 30... in the case of Jessica, I am wondering if she fits the profile these predator pimps are targeting?

Good info!

If we look back on the investigation into the homicide leading up to the arrest, they had released that photo of the blonde that *I* suspected was an escort. There are quite a few coincidences between the two cases. The Quebec connection certainly has me intrigued. Too bad the accused has his FB friends locked up.... Will take some digging.

The type... perhaps... but the timing of the custody hearing is so very hard to ignore... be it running from it, or being kept from it.

Given that both JRN and Shannon Burgess have connections to Model Mayhem, a known site for HT, I wonder.... Both women have been singled out by LE for public help, and I suspect, both cases are now being handled by Major Crimes, the unit that would deal with HT cases. The lack of publicity for the countless other women has me concerned... Why were these cases singled out and what aren't they telling us?

It is, but stranger things have happened. Unfortunately, the area in which JRN went missing is the worst area for prostitution, sexual assaults and lately, abductions. *If* she wandered out after being dropped off, or went out with an acquaintance that evening, there is infinite possibilities as to the reason she disappeared. That is why I wish that family and friends would make the details public, as to the last time they saw her, what she said and how she acted.

There could be some sort of pleasure or business dealings that the two woman would have both engaged in. I think back to the pub near Value Village (can't recall the name atm). Shannon would go there for LARP Wednesdays or something like that. It is in the NE of Calgary by Value Village IIRC. Also I think they were both into karaoke for some reason. As well Model Mayhem.

Has anyone been into the restaraunt that Jessica worked at? I have heard that it is a gathering place for the HAMC. It is a very large building. I wonder if there are any back rooms that other services are offered.

That would break the nothing negative, pity party and saint making only rules though.
