Case #: 1988-7764
The Missing Person Unit (MPU) is highlighting a case from Sunday, January 17, 1988, of human remains recovered from Lake Ontario.

The remains are from a white man, 20-25, 5'5", 185 lbs. or less, brown eyes, thick black hair, dark eyebrows and at the time one day’s growth of facial hair.

He had round scar on his left knee, his left ear was pierced and had a round ball stud earring in it.

He was wearing a waist length blue/gray or possibly beige “Westport” zippered jacket with a vinyl hood, blue/gray/green plaid long sleeve shirt, a white t-shirt with a black collar and black sleeves with the word “Rush” in green on the front. Also had on blue jeans (waist size 30 with shortened pant legs), a pair of black combat style ankle boots and wearing a Bulova “Set-O-Matic” watch with a black nylon band. His personal effects included a black lighter and a combination knife/bottle opener.

Recently the Ontario Pathologist’s office, with the assistance of the O.P.P., undertook to create an artist’s rendition of this man in the hopes that it will help someone recognize this individual and bring some resolution to both his family and the investigation.

The MPU ensures the investigative response of Missing Persons and Unidentified Human Remains investigations including historic unsolved cases.

This case is also featured on Canada's Missing website, which is the website for the National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains.

Wondering if the t shirt with "Rush" written on the sleeves is a band t shirt?
If so, did the uid male attend a RUSH concert?

Definitely a band name. From Canada but hugely popular in the states and the rest of the world. He might have attended a concert but I think a lot of Canadian young men wore the band's shirts, record stores carried them.

About 20% of young Canadian men at the time owned a Rush T-shirt. They were the most popular band among that demographic in the country.

My question is about the weight, which seems way out of sync with the UID’s height and jeans size - like a good 40-50 pounds out of sync. A 5'5" guy with a 30" waist would likely weigh 135-150 lbs unless he was Hercules-level muscular. Could a body absorb water (and therefore weight) while submerged?

The weight does seem kind of heavy for an approx 5'5'' frame- which is described as medium. Noting- fwiw- that the site says left ear pierced, but sketch shows it as a right ear piercing.
