Would be helpful to know more precisely where this rest area / outhouse was located in Deep River?

Would be helpful to know more precisely where this rest area / outhouse was located in Deep River?

I can remember years ago, when I first became interested in this case, there was a police youtube video out with a short documentory surrounding the case. It showed detailed pictures of the outhouse and a map of it's exact location, as well as a side view of the actual John Doe. I think it has been removed now, because I've tried to find it, but can't. It also used to be accessed at the bottom of his Doe Network profile. Maybe you might have better luck finding it?

FWIW, although the Koh Sakai frames are handmade in Japan, they are distributed by BADA USA out of Los Angeles.

BADA, OKIO, and KOH SAKAI

Distributed from Los Angeles, CA but handmade in Japan of the finest quality titaniums and zyls, this collection has a loyal customer base ...

Over in the Lachlan thread, we have had discussion about the movie "Mulholland Drive" (2001), produced by David Lynch (lives in Los Angeles, starring Naomi Watts (lives in LA); Mulholland Drive is in LA. Don't know dates, but some of the film was shot in Deep River.

Really can't go anywhere with it, but just tossing it out there.

A strange thing: it's a European brand, Pepe Jeans London. There are no Canadian stores, and I can't see any U.S. stores either. Could the clothing line be sold only in high-end department stores and retailers in North America?

The Replay brand also has no Canadian stores. It is sold in the U.S. (Los Angeles, NYC) and online, however:

http://www.replay.it/en/store/search

Both brands are available in the UAE.

I believe these socks may be the ones:

http://www.wigwam.com/Products/Iron...roductId=c71d74de-fa96-dd11-9fb3-001d091bb843

They were formerly known as Ultimax® Triathlete Ultra-Lite. The brand is sold online. They're not cheap, at about $55 US for six pairs on one website.

As for the Fundamentals T-shirt, is it this, or the kind sold at Sears?

Bret Stone -Unidentified Male found Deep River, Ontario September 5, 2001

Until my family or friends can identify me, you can call me Bret Stone.

On September 5, 2001, six days before the tragedy of 9/11, someone found me deceased in a wooded area near a cross country ski trail. Specifically, I was at Deep River, Ontario, on a bench in an outhouse, in a wooded rest area of cross country ski trail, in the Laurentian Hills.

It appears I had been there a couple of day before they found me. They say there was no trauma found to the body. So I guess I wasn't shot, or hurt that way. I didn't hear any findings on drugs or anything that could have been in the blood system.

I appear to have been traveling due to my possessions, well tanned body and sunburn face. Maybe I skied?

I was wear black cotton jockey shorts, faded button fly blue jeans size 30, a black leather belt and a black T shirt. I sported triathlon socks and black small size, fairly worn running shoes.

When they found me, I had plenty of personal effects but still couldn't identify me. Check this list out:

Silver ring with aquamarine gem stone worn on right hand, little "pinky" finger

Blue "Eagle CreekTravel" nylon knapsack containing hiking items such as:

Candle lantern

Mini mag flashlight

Water container

Matches

"Levi's" pocket watch with blue face and built in compass

Luggage tag from a Costa Rican domestic airline

Plastic laundry bag from Sutton Place Hotel, Toronto

Matches from Sheraton Hotel, W Hotels (American Chain), and Barclay Hotel in Vancouver

2 Protein Bars from a G.N.C. store, more than likely from the United States

Plus my Eyeglasses that are for a near-sighted person and are described as follows:

Frame is "Koh Sakai"Model # is " KS9365"Colour is " 6CPR"Size is " 46-23-145" Right lens prescription is "2.50 -1.75 X 182"Left lens prescription is " 3.50 -1.00 X 008" There is a reflective coating on the lens which is said to be expensive.

I think because foul play is not suspected they didn't try all that hard to figure out who I am. Yes, I'm sure they did the normal routines. However, I think more can be done to figure out my identity. Come on, I had all those personal items on me but no identification?

At first I wondered about Costa Rica. Then I learned that a group from Pembroke regularly travels there, and did so in 2001. People from all over attend their workshops. Perhaps this is one of those travellers?

Oh, I've worn those socks. They're popular with hikers as well as triathletes. You could get them at places like Eastern Mountain Sports, REI, ski shops, etc.

I've corrected my post about the jeans...apparently they were made in Canada at one point. Hard to say, with all the offshore contracting, if that was the case in 2001. Do any of the other articles of clothing sound like something a hiker would wear? Cuz I'm thinking not....

Not only that he possibly stayed at some expensive hotels. And why was his wallet missing ? That is what is strange to me.

The wallet missing seems weird.

He's not dressed for serious hiking -- good socks and shoes, but the clothes are more for "trekking" than hiking. He sounds like a tourist out to see a bit of the countryside.

I know all those other items still left with him but no wallet. If he didn't meet with foul play, why wasn't the wallet still with him? You are right it is weird.

I've wondered that as well RubyRed. His attire didn't sound ultra-cheap, his glasses are high-end, various items indicate travel which requires money ... yet no wallet or even a mention of a couple of bucks.

I'm also curious about the blood from the nose. What would cause him to bleed post-mortem? If it is not post-mortem, then what caused it prior to death?

With the minimal hiking supplies and no backpack or fanny pack noted, doesn't sound like he was out for a seriously long hike. The fat loss and caffeine pills are interesting. Someone wanting to lose weight, stay awake, change their description?

He had a backpack, with some minimal supplies like a flashlight and some energy bars. No mention of water, however.

Sorry carbuff ... i had forgotten about his knapsack.

I'm tired, so maybe it's just me not seeing clearly, but IMO the clothing in the post-mortem pic doesn't completely match the clothing description in the doenetwork file.

From: http://www.smh.com.au/world/agents-stick-with-oldhat-espionage-20100629-zjdf.html:

"But for the most part, they contacted each other the old-fashioned way, through furtive exchanges in city parks, bags of cash hidden along country roads, even by radio with Morse code."

It seems likely that this unidentified man was not from Canada. The clothes and evidence of travel, combined with the length of time he has gone unidentified, seem to indicate this, IMO. Did he come to Deep River as his destination, or merely a side trip? Chalk River has a nuclear reactor. Petawawa has a military base.
