I wonder why that girl from his hometown wouldn't have reported something so serious? He could have been charged with making death threats.

I can, from 12 thou klms away answer that one. She didn't want to dob a classmate in. It's only words. Its a universal truth that boys say this to girls in highschool on a daily basis all around the world. He probably said to everyone in the class ( he was super into himself ) .. She says he said it, he says he didn't. And so on.

But she didn't forget it, and she didn't move on from the frisson of instinct that told her he was weird and not a person to attempt any more social interaction with that was unnecessary from then on.

ok, wait... I'm Canadian, and at 18, you are no longer a minor in the eyes of the law as far as I know. The young offenders Act only covers minors up to the age of 17, you turn 18, you are an adult. Drinking age and being considered a minor/adult are 2 different things IMO

As I said, minors can be tried as adults, even Young Offenders can be tried in adult court. Age of majority is 19 in B.C.

GILLAM, Manitoba (NEWS 1130) – As the nation-wide manhunt continues in the search for the two Vancouver Island men wanted in connection with three deaths in northern B.C., the Manitoba RCMP says it has found the vehicle the two were travelling in.

A woman who works near Gillam, Manitoba also says she spoke with them.

On Tuesday, the RCMP said they had “reason to believe” Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, and Kam McLeod, 19, had been spotted in the rural community in that province’s north.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Cpl. Julie Courchaine said the grey 2011 Toyota RAV 4 the suspects had been travelling in was found burned near Gillam on Monday night. bbm

Manitoba RCMP finds burned vehicle of men wanted in connection with three northern B.C. deaths

Age: Bryer is 18, too young to drink legally in B.C., where the murders were committed. Bryer is still a minor under the law. Kam is 19, fully legal in B.C.

For crimes committed in other provinces where the legal age is 18, they are both adults.

For our American friends, they would not yet be legal in your country, where 21 is the age of majority.

In other countries, drinking age is different from legal age. Not so in Canada.

In Canadian court, minors can be tried as adults, depending on how close they are to the age of majority and other factors.

Clear as mud now, right? Takeaway: Bryer is a minor and Kam is an adult in B.C.

ETA: some northern communities have voted themselves "dry". Liquor is not sold legally in these communities.

In Canada, anyone 18 and over is not covered under the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada. All individuals age 18 and over are tried in adult court. It does not differ by province like the age of majority for drinking.

I'm really curious to know if they did use or try to use any credit or debit cards of their victims. Seems a huge oversight in this day and age. Young people especially and those interested in committing crimes must know that can be a way to trace people.

To know enough to turn off their phones but not know better than to use your victims bank card.

This is all speculation of course.
I did not realize they used their victims debit or credit card, I must have missed that one.

Now that the duo are far away, the stories come out. So there were signs after all. Thank you.
Scary to think if that's what BS may have done to Chynna :(. I wish someone had spoken up to authorities on how BS was being threatening but then again if he was arrested and let out he may have carried out his threats on the girl. I think BS's father knew something was brewing as well but yet no one reached out to get BS any professional help/counselling? JMO

Not necessarily a worldwide conspiracy, but social media sites do have a tendency of completely blasting these kinds of profiles off the face of the web. It happens with facebook profiles all the time when the account holder makes the news.

I saw a youtube account by the "Illusive Gameing" name earlier that is definitely not there now. Can I prove it? Nope. The internet might not forget on its own, but it can be roofied.

And the photos were evidently sent in private messages, and there's no way of searching those, regardless.

Yea, social media sites could remove stuff, but they cannot remove caches. Given the dates that the stories were written, the accounts should be fresh in every cache in the world. Even if not there (which would be incredibly odd), they'd be showing up in some of the actual historical cache sites. Hell, I haven't even seen any of these pictures of Bryer in a Nazi uniform. The only reference I could find to that was a picture of him in a Camo jacket, and then another completely separate picture of a swastika with a knife, with no reason to believe the two pictures have any association with each other.

Now again, perhaps they, or Youtube deleted their account, but I've deleted MANY youtube accounts in a vain attempt to save myself from future embarrassment. I can easily find references to them. Anyone who understand the internet knows that it doesn't forget anything.

I'm still waiting for a citation. I've sorta asked around in a few places but thus far, absolutely nothing has been put forth.

Wow! So different from when I went to school in the 1970s. If some guy had dared say that to a girl, one of the other guys (or more) would have beaten the tar out of him. No need to tell parents or the authorities, as those kinds of things were taken care of by fellow classmates. Don't kids stick up for each other any more?

Someone posted the Nazi type pics here today. I don’t know what page.

It is unfortunate. His father should be more responsible and publicly urge his son to turn himself in and avoid confrontation. He should be delivering a very different message, in my opinion.

I agree, but I think the dad knows his son well enough to know that a plea to turn himself in would not do anything, and I think this was his "goodbye" to his son, and I will not judge the man for his statement. As a father, myself, I cannot begin to imagine the guilt and pain he is most likely feeling, and my heart goes out to him just as it does Lucas and Chynna's parents. He is another victim, imo.

Provincial police in the Northwest region of Ontario have issued a public safety warning in relation to the Northern B.C. homicide suspect.

[...]

The 18- and 19-year-old were reportedly last spotted in the Gillam, Manitoba area and a burned-out vehicle found in the area has been confirmed by Manitoba RCMP as the one they had been driving in.

[...]

No further details were given and a spokesperson for the RCMP said, “With respect to public safety, we understand the concerns being raised. This is a complex ongoing investigation involving multiple jurisdictions.”

“If we have a confirmed sighting, we will let everyone know as soon as possible.”

[...]

Deputy Mayor John McDonald said people in Gillam were also making sure their vehicles are locked while the RCMP search for the suspects.

McDonald said if McLeod and Schmegelsky are there, they are in country known for its thick bush, swamps and pesky insects, and where it’s easy to get lost.

[...]

OPP say it appears the suspects are headed in an easterly direction. They are considered dangerous and residents are asked not to approach them if spotted.

No sorry I don’t. But it’s probably not difficult to find, the one of the rear of the van with the big gaping hole in the back window.
Oh, you're talking about Fowler and Deese's vehicle. When you said 'camper' I thought you meant the truck.

Yeah the van has Alberta plates, was allegedly purchased from some Swiss person who worked at the ranch where Fowler worked. Given the province and the difficulty in identifying the bodies, I'd guess that plate was many years out of date and that Fowler never bothered making it legal and getting a proper plate or insurance before heading out. That might be why there's nothing in the registry.

<modsnip: quoted post was removed> I'm in Saskatchewan, I have asked (demanded lol) that my kids not stop for anyone on the highway until these 2 are found. I'm having a hard time believing that these 2 are still in Gillam, I have a feeling they burned the RAV4 when they got another vehicle, I just hope no one else has been hurt. :(
